Every sikh is meant to train in martial arts from an early age.Khalsa is flawless. But today not all people follow what Guru ji taught us. If the singh had smacked them 2 idiots round the head a few times it might have gone differently...who knows. the police wud have seen that as self deffence. There are few people that have the courage to fight.....but the few that do fight are allways condemned by idiots in society.....so what are they to do? Bhinderanwalle used to tell sikhs to fight back. 2day no1 is even actively tellig us to do that even. Instead sikh leaders are teaching us to be cowards, get our turbans knocked off and come home with beats. True sikhi isnt being preached in the soldier department. No1 has ever been thrown out of the Gurdwara by the sikh youth of southall. No Sikh youth friend of mine has ever initiated an attack on any1 with their mouth, fist or sword. i see a flag buring because of what happened in 84, and it made peopel angry... can't blame them, family, kids house all gone.. today, the anger is still there, even if it's unhealthy in some cases, this flag burning was not in itself uncalled for, i have a hard time understanding why people question and disregard other peopels pain and life experiences... oh im sorry lionchild.forgive me. just 1 question. are u sikh? i ask u this because u dont support the sikhs in a minor little protest in trafalguar square even. right now theres only been a little protest in which a flag got burned. i wonder what u wud do if there was a real battle. the only people i see being true are Militant singh, Pritam singh khalsa and Narinder Singh. may waheguru ji bless u. waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji kee fateh. to answer it short and simple.......>> a sikh beleives every living thing has a soul. we are against killing animals therefor and must live a vegetarian diet. howerver if there is no vegetation available e.g. in the state of warefare (i.e in a jungle) then it is ok to hunt and eat meat as a warrior may have to if no vegetation is available. i wud say its ok 2 hunt and eat the pig to survive. and the whole thing u said about "any animal that doesnt give milk" ?????????????????? i dont agree with that. A sikh does not differentiate between cow and chicken. both are equal, both are souls. if there was no vegetation available and a chicken and a cow was infront of me, i wudnt favour the cow over the chicken. both are equal souls. i wudnt mind eating the cow. Hindus say dont eat beef cuz they pray to cows....... sikhs dont see cows as anything holy, they are same as a chicken or pig. so what if a cow gives milk?? most animals give milk to their young!! BUTTT we must stay vegetarian as long as there is vegetation available cuz the guru banned eating meat. waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji kee fateh. amritdhari sikhs have to live according to the way a sikh shud live. going to church is ok. going to mandir is ok. going 2 mosque is ok. As long as u pray to the 1 true god. guru nanak prayed with hindus and muslims alike. but guru ji prayed to waheguru ji and did not direct prayers in any given direction nor pray to idols. going church and mandir is ok. dont pray to statues/ idols though. or any other so called god. there is 1. god of all. praying to idols is strictly prohibited, bear this in mind. if u go to mandir what will u do? u can sit and pray to the 1 true god, but people may look at u oddly. so sometimes its best to go only gurdwara. also the mandir is full of superstitious and ritualistic activities that sikhs are against. so to keep your mind pure u shud go gurdwara. fateh.
