  3. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! hmmm this is an interesting topic. :T: I've often wondered about taking medicines etc and whether it's right in accordance with Bani. After all Guru Ji says "maira baed guru gobinda" my physician is God But then I read that Guru Har Rai Sahib jee used to have a dispensary and actually cured Dara Shikhon using medicines. I know that that is probably to do with the power of Bani - Maharaj can cure ANYTHING! but i've come to the conclusion that taking medicines is fine, so long as Simran/path is done as well. It's a bit like praying to Guru Jee to make the medicines work! I'm not sure if any of that actuallly make sense :T: , but just my two cents! vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  4. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! LOL!!! I'm female jee!! But as far as more info goes, see this link http://breaking.examiner.ie/2004/05/17/sto...tory148058.html I was almost in tears this morning when i read it. It really is heartbreaking to see that all the work that Gurmukhs are doing to encourage their brothers and sisters to wear dastaars is being compromised by some stupid law. Please let's unite and do something about this (rather than do what I'm doing - sitting here complaining!!) Bhul chuk maaf Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  5. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! Well, Sikhi isn't that great if we've allowed our French brothers and sisters to wear a hair net instead of a proper dastaar. Sorry but that news has made me sooooooo angry! @ Please, we need to unite even more to prevent this from spreading. Sorry to be the pessimistic one, but I feel that this is really important vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  6. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! I'm absolutely SHOCKED! In that report, it said that the Sikhs had reached an "agreement to wear a hairnet". What happened to our Dastaar - our CROWN. I mean, i know that there are different styles of dastaar/dumallae, but a HAIRNET????? @ @ @ :umm: @ :umm: @ @ vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh 3;!
  7. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! Bhaji this is wonderful!!!! Would it be possible for you to put the SGGSJi Angs up as well? I recognise most of the shabads, but i'm still not sure of the Gurmukhi of a few  Keep up the brilliant seva jee! vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  8. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! This is probably gona sound really stupid, but I'm sure there was a link in some topic to the website of Gurdwara Sledgley Street, Wolverhampton, uk -but I cant find it anywhere now! Could someone please post the link asap as we're hoping to travel down for the rensabhai tomorrow and I saw some info on the site (which i thought I'd look at properly later lol) Thanx in advance vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  9. And there are a lot of people doing Sehaj Path with both English and Punjabi meanings (from Bhai Manmohan Singh's senchian) and we will all do Bhog on 1st September 2004 with Guru Ji's Kirpa. I think that's the best way to raise awareness - doing path with meanings. Even doing 2 Angs every day with understanding is better than doing 50 Angs and not having a clue about what it means! It may take a lot longer than a usual Sehaj Path - many families started in 2002 and aim to complete by 2004, bt it's certainly worth it!! Just my thoughts! Bhul chuk maaf

  11. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! No, I mean like an overdose of medication. In the SGPC maryada, it's pretty clear that it's Tobacco that's the kurehit, but it says later on that you musn't take intoxicants. But if you take a one off overdose and aren't addicted to the stuff, then is it classed as intoxicants? :T: I'm a bit confused! vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  12. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! Ok, after reading the topic on intoxicants, i'v got 1 qn. I agree that taking intoxicants is wrong, but what about if an Amritdhari took an overdose? Would they have to re-take Amrit? I know that this shouldn't happen, but it does, so i'm just curious. Bhul chook maaf vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  13. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! Ok, after reading this topic (rather browsing thru it!) i'v got 1 qn. I agree that taking intoxicants is wrong, but what about if an Amritdhari took an overdose? Would they have to re-take Amrit? :T: Just curious Bhul chook maaf vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  14. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! After reading a few posts, this question came to mind, How many of us have actually taken Khande Bhatey da Amrit? Just curious vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  15. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! Yes Jee - 45mins is about right. Japji Shib takes abt 10mins, Jaap Sahib 15mins (once u can say it properly!) and then 25mins for Chaupee Sahib, Tv prsaad Swayaai and Anand Sahib. Mind you I only do the chaupee sahib as per SGPC maryada - if u do the full bani, it mite take a bit longer! But its not about how fast can we do the banis, it's about how much pyaar we have when doing them. There's not alot of point if there's no understanding! Bhul Cook Maaf vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  16. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! They should have a dumalla tying institute too!!! :e: vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  17. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! Well, good luck mailing him!!! I'm ashamed to say that I know him personally (not well though!) but i don't think he'll take any notice. Just as an aside - his dad is the Pardhan of the largest Gurdwara in Glasgow. :T: It makes me soooooooo mad @ :D @ Bhul chook maaf vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  18. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! That's brill, but it coincides with the Derby rensabhai Jee!! Ok so I wont be able to cum for either , but i thought that i'd point it out Bhul chook maaf vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  19. Vaheguru Jee ka Khalsa Vaheguru Jee kee fateh Ok - iv been into sikhi from a young age and iv always loved everything about it, but now, i sometimes get really scared when reading Gurbani. i'm fine if i do/listen to Simran, but some Gurbani tuks just scare me. I know it's wrong to feel like this, but i don't know what to do about it. i mean Gurbani is supposed to give you strength and courage- not make you feel scared. I read Gurbani and think "omg, what is Guru Sahib saying and what am i doing" and i get really really scared. I would be grateful for any suggestions to get over this!! Bhul chuk maaf Vaheguru Jee ka khalsa Vaheguru Jee kee fateh
  20. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! Carrots, Eggs, & Coffee Beans A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved a new one arose. Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water. In the first, she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs and the last, ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil without saying a word. In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl. Turning to her daughter, she asked, "Tell me what do you see?" "Carrots, eggs, and coffee," she replied. She brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. The daughter did and noted that they were soft. She then asked her to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg. Finally, she asked her to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled, as she tasted its rich aroma. The daughter then asked. "What's the point, mother?" Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity - boiling water - but each reacted differently. The carrot went in strong, hard and unrelenting. However after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak. The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior. But, after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened. The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water they had changed the water. "Which are you?" she asked her daughter. "When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg, or a coffee bean?" Think of this: Which am I? Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity, do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength? Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat? Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff? Does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and a hardened heart? Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor. If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you. When the hours are the darkest and trials are their greatest, do you elevate to another level? How do you handle Adversity? ARE YOU A CARROT, AN EGG, OR A COFFEE BEAN? Don't tell GOD how big your storm is. Tell the storm how big your GOD is! vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  21. Mkhalsa Bhaji, wats up with your site? I managed to access the first time, but now it says that it doesn't exist!! What am i doing wrong? :T: I hope you havn't taken it off - it was really amazing
  22. VJKK VJKF Veer Jee, please don't do anything silly!! Believe me I have just been through thinking about suicide myself. I mailed a Gursikh and this is the reply I got. It helped me - I hope you can find sense in it!! But the only way out is to do SIMRAN and KEERTAN. Put a cd/cassette or whatever whenever you can and try to focus on what Guru Jee is saying. Let us know how you get on! "According to gurmat suicide is a very great sin! it is a selfish act, how many people do we hurt by taking our own life!, "pey prapat manukh dehoreeya gobind milan kee eho tiree bureeya" This life is very precious that we have been given, it is given to us to jaap naam, do sevaa and we should do our upmost not to waste any breath in this life, evey breath, every action, every thought should be a positive one, Suicide for a gursikh is not an option, Guru jee gave us the beautiful mentality of TIRAA KEEYA MEETA LAGAY" guru jee didnt just give this to us! he showed it in himself! guru arjan dev sahib jee was abused too such an extreme but did not once think to give anything in cos he had the "secret" to eternal bliss! VAHEGURU!! For us to take our lives is to not accept guru jee's hukam, whatever happens guru jee does for his reason's we are puppets in his show! but the gursikh has been given through the amrit bani the power to accept all his hukam and not feel anything such as pain, all pain and pleasure are one and the same, a gursikh should be on only one track of thought, VAHEGURU VAHEGURU VAHEGURU! We dont cut our kes as they are living so what makes us think we can take out own life, think about the penalty of that 33; taking your own life is a slap in guru jee's face, guru jee has given us this life to enjoy the fruits of his naam and we go and give it back to him and say no thanx, what a waste!" I know that life often feels like @ !! but remember, everything is in Guru Ji's Hands - our job as Gursikhs is to meditate on Him and then leave all our problems to Him. I hope that makes sense!!! VJKK VJKF
  23. Vaheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Vaheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Hmmm interesting question. I agree that ppl should take Amrit when they feel ready to give their head to Guru Jee and age shouldn't matter - we've all been through the 84 lakh joons, so spiritually, we are all old!!!!!! But we do have to realise what a big commitment we are making to Guru Jee. I took Amrit when I was 9 and the reason was that i was inspired by all the Sakhis. But know that i'm learning more and more about Sikhi, i sometimes wish that i had waited till i was a bit older. I find myself feeling guilty about all the wrong things i've done even having taking Amrit. I guess all i want is another chance. Saying that, i know many kids who are much higher spiritually than i am and to deny them the chance to take Amrit is wrong in my opinion - were the Sahizaday not amritdhari?!! Bhul Chook Maaf Vaheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Vaheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
