  1. just for a short answer... the more authentic story is that Baba Deep Singh Ji had his head chopped off and then picked up with his left hand and kept fighting with his right.. many might think thats not possible, however that is the power of amrit.. and we can see many other times where amrit has made people immortal such as Bhai Mati Das Ji who was sawn in half but even after he was cut, one could still hear japji sahib coming out of his mouth.. as soon as he was done japji sahib he left his last breath, not when his body was physically cut in half hope it helps, if u need more details plz run a search as the above stated, u will ifnd ur answer, if u dont plz reply back in this thread, and welcome to the forum by the way

  5. amazing posts but the the thing is he doesn't know a lot about sikhism thats why he sed he cut his hair, which w.e i guess i can understand.. so i just want something thats about amrit, or any other topic cuz he wont know whats going on nah even the 5ks.. i just want an inspirational story for kes if anyone has one srry for being picky thx
  6. Sangat ji, i need an inspiring story as to the importance of our kes, why we shud keep it,n the history n stuff one of my buddies recently cut his hair n i just found out today.. i just want to email it to him so he knows what he really did. The thing is that he isn't stupid or anything he just actually didn't know why we kept kes n why he himself kept it all these years. so he's like since it didn't really have a significance to him, he jus cut it.. fair enuff
  7. eww. nuts outta manuer.. i dun tink thats hygenic or healthy lol.. but its a guy tryn ta prove HE AINTA bahman so i guess its possible lol (jus kidding) nice post
  8. i aint judgin ur avastha or nuffn but.. the longer u spend on this earth the more bhagati u can do.. if u do less bhagti on this earth u'll be farther away from maharaj... this life was given to us to do bhagti, if u die early then u can't possibly be closer to maharaj... why dont u hope for a long healthy life so u can do as much bhagti as possible so u dont have to come back to this earth at all like Bhagat Fareed Sahib Says.. Die such a Death that you won't have to die again
  9. he pronounces everything but only to himself kinda thing.. like he knows he has to pronounce them so he kinda says them but there isn't a WHOLE lot of emphasis on it \ so if u closed ur eyes n tried ta follow along n see the shabad in ur head, u wouldn't be able to cuz u wouldn't be able to make out if there is a siharee at the end of a word or if its just a mukta
  10. obviously it isn't so getting darshan of the shabad inside, is nirgun saroop then i guess
  11. think what u want b.. think im rss? cool.. think im a hindu? cool..think i have an agenda? cool think what u want .. all i know is i aint any better than them.. n that post is just my opinion, not the truth "what we deem to be" our guru's body .. well maybe u didn't understand what i was trying to say.. i was just saying that the pics represent our gurus so when i look at the pic i can get reminded of my guru.. like how royal, humble, amazing, pure, beautiful.. w.e u wanna say .. the only way to actually see ur guru's face is to get rid of all other wants, other than bathing in the dust of ur guru's feet.. only when that is the last thought in ur mind, ur last want.. only then will guru sahib come and give u his darshan, cuz he will see how much u love him.. until then just keep remembering guru sahib as often as possible.. pics help remind u to remember them oh n yea ur right the 4th para does sound like a pro argument for hindus.. but the difference is that im trying to state a fact that yea IT IS EASIER to love someone when u can see them, which is why not many people are on the path of sikhi, despite being born in a sikh family.. the pics just HELP with the feeling that ok look my guru actually was on this earth. like going to Sri Harimander Sahib .. at the baba deep singh thing in the parkarma there is a pic of him.. to show that yo he ACTUALLY STOOD HERE.. like it would be hard to imagine it.. so they made the pic to represent the the fact that he did stand there.. just to be clear tho.. I AM 100% AGAINST IDOLISING ANYTHING BUT AKAAL PURAKH, AND AM 100% AGAINST AARTI OR ANY TYPE OF IDOLISING TO PICS.. sry for the confusion, hope i sound less like a missionary or w.w now lol
  12. didn't get the joke.. bad joke :D
  13. ok basically the pictures aren't wrong.. they represent our gurus.. not saying they are our gurus but they represent them in terms of its a way of parchaar.. say im walking down the gurdwara and i see a pic of a shaheed or a guru or something then i'll ask my dad who that is n he can tell me.. if the pic wasn't there i prolly wouldn't have asked in the first place.. our gurus could have taken any body so their particular body didn't really matter but paintings and pics are to represent certain acts they did such as like the pic of Guru Nanak doing Sacha Sauda.. we see it n we get an idea of history.. like what happened, n how it happened.. once again if we find it interesting we ask someone whats going on.. if it wasn't there we prolly wouldn't have asked as well.. its easier to memorize or "love" something when u can physically see it.. which is why its so easy to love our son/daughters/wives/husbands/families/friends .. yet its so hard to love vaheguru because "we can't see him" .. he's everywhere yet we're so ignorant that we CHOOSE not to see him.. so the pics just kinda give us an idea of ok our gurus were this mehamaan u know.. plus (i know i've sed this before but still) a love loves every aspect of his guru, mental, physical, soul, everything.. a lover aint gonna say oh i love this part about u but i dont care about the rest.. a true lover loves the guru in whole, from head to toe including the inside. as far as respecting the pics, yes i do it.. it reminds me and gets me thinking of my guru again, so i respect anything that does that, even a person.. dont preform rituals on the pics such as aarti n stuff, just respect the pics n use it as a reminder of ur guru is always with u and watching u.. n as far as the caldendars go.. i say its a good thing that people dont throw the pics in the garbage.. i mean i doubt they're doing it cuz their afraid of rituals or bad luck.. its just satkaar.. its something that helps u in sikhi, have some respect.. burn it or something.. do proper satkaar.. its is wat "we deem to be" our guru's body
  14. as far as i've learnt.. getting the darshan of the shabad is the biggest darshan u can get.. like when u close ur eyes guru sahib sends u shabds and u can literally see the lines written like ur looking at a piece of paper.. i think thats much bigger than getting darshan of the body or face (plus u never know if its maya's khed).. i aint saying getting darshan as in just seeing guru sahib's beeerd or a gutka or anything with bani.. i mean literally when u close ur eyes u see the shabad just like it is in the gutka sahib n stuff.. its like u've done prakash of Guru Granth Sahib's beerd in ur head.. amazing avastha.. n like just randomly guru sahib is always sending u a bani tuk or shabad to ur head so ur always in essence imbued in the love of guru nanak or in other words always imbued in bani and then of course there's nirgun darshan.. could that be shabad too (what qualities does the shabad have?) .. infinite
  15. Here's the common sense of why we pronounce every laga matra (letter) 1) if somene were to ask u to write jap(u)ji sahib on paper off by heart, would you be able to do it exactly how it is written in Guru sahib's beerd. well if u don't pronounce every letter, how will u remember its there (like the so called silent siharees n onkars at the ends of words that we dont pronounce) when it comes down to writing it? 2) guru sahib got us away from doing pointless things so why would he put the sihaars n onkaars n so called (silent) letters there if they had no point, it would just be there for no reason, but in fact adding or excluding letters often changes the meaning of the entire word or even the entire sentence 3) when Guru Gobind Singh sed all bani off by heart at Takth Damdama Sahib after the war was over, he did not write the bani. He had two sikhs of his write the bani, namely Baba Deep Singh and Baba Mani Singh. Neither of these two sikhs had previously memorized all the bani so even they did not know where the laga matras went. Now if Guru sahib only spoke the words and Baba Deep Singh n Baba Mani Singh wrote them down well then how come they added sihaarees and onkars at the end if they are supposed to be silent.. obviously Guru Gobind Singh sed the siharees and onkars n other so called silent letters, which is why they wrote it down.. thats why the laga matra are in bani in the first place.. because thats how guru sahib used to say it.. they wrote down every single letter they heard come out of Guru Sahib's mouth Remeber this is Dhur Ki Bani (Bani sent from above) .. so who are we to say something is silent, when is written right there in front of us, is nah like there's instructions on the first page saying dont pronounce so and so.. say it like its written.. don't miss even a letter.. cuz that single letter is a bakhshish of guru sahib.. I like to look at it like this.. say we have a math formula Ax +Bx = Cx .. well if we sed the x's were silent n only did A + B = C.. we would get the wrong answer.. just like in bani.. i treat bani as a formula to attach myself to guru sahib's feet (through his loving words).. if i miss even one part of the formula, i might not get the answer or might nah get all of the correct answer, maybe some parts lol.. i tink u get the jist of it.,
  16. Does anyone have any Shud Paath where they pronounce siharees and onkars?
  17. i heard its another word for gurmukh lol
  18. of course the body doesn't really matter but at the end of the day, a lover aint gonna say the body aint important.. for instance when Nauve Patshah gave his shaheedi, why would Bhai Jeta Ji take his head to Dasve Saroop... to me every guru sahib's body is a form of a sargun saroop, like vaheguru himself came in dem bodies through the jot of guru nanak... so i mean the body REALLY doesn't matter but a lover aint gonna put it so blantly, they love every aspect including the physical aspect of the guru n its nah about guru sahib having the need to come back n give someone darshan, its about what the mind wants.. guru sahib fulfills everything people want n when someone comes to a point where all he wants to do is get imbued in the love of gurbani and just wants to see his guru's face, then guru sahib comes and shows it.. it aint nothing big.. its a game of love
  19. I know dis mite sound a bit weird.. but its been botherin me for a while now.. WHY/HOW does lint get on my gatra lol..it doesn't get wet or anything..the thing is i got a new gatra a little while ago n its nice gatra (nice material).. but a week later there's a bunch if lint on it, n all it does is touch ma skin n ma clothes (cuz i wear it under ma clothes).. any suggestions?

  23. who cares.. let em make the temple.. i respect em for it.. whether it be out of jelousy or whether it be JUST because they want to attract more people to their dharam.. it is funny how he keeps comparing it to darbar sahib tho lol i aint gonna judge.. but all i know is even if they did make places worth billions of dollars worth more harimandir sahib and all sangat starts going there instead.. well i guess i get to enjoy all the keertan at harminder sahib without the rush of people pushing me around lol.. better for me :D
  24. i'll admit.. heera's officially black pshh.. dumb kaala lol
