  1. lol bechara this is his 3rd year cos he had to change college twice cos of house moves - so he doesnt want to spend another year studying cos that 4 years in college!!!
  2. OK basically let's keep this short... has anyone on SS had to go to Uni with only 2 full a-levels? My cousin will also have 4 as-levels on top of these 2 a-levels but he's a bit sceptical that he'll be able to get into a good uni with all this... I think he can - cos that means (if he does well) around 380 UCAS points... but what do you guys think?? :6 Because the usual is 3 a-levels and probably an extra AS but becuase of stupid circumstances by the end of the year my cous will have the above....
  3. lol if you lot spent the same time and energy on simran/paath ... not that I'm much better but you get the gist

  5. lol slough is the biggest pain in my neck at the moment...hmm lemme think about this one... :gg: ok, idea... youth are still allowed to go to gurudwara...and I've seen on a number of occassions a bunch of them young or old sitting in the wedding diwan chatting and listening to kirtan on their mobiles and some doing paath etc. The committee probably sees that as annoying but youth do it anyways... Therefore, instead of timepassing...why not have a day where we have a explanation/discussion/debate/forum about bani? I know half of you probably have sikhitothemax on your phones/blackberries/pda's...so make use of the time, resources and sangat... :D
  6. llol forget it - goin off topic as usual, the heart and significance of the thread gets lost and it's an important issue, not a joke :umm:
  7. My point is Waheguru is everywhere... here in this shabad IMO Bhagat Kabeer Ji explains this and how to reach Waheguru in stages but that's goin off topic Perhaps I should have explained my original post - but I was tryin to say that Waheguru is everywhere...even in our hairs...I dunno about CHANNELLING naam...all I know is that through simran, you can feel naam reverberate throughout your body - including your hairs...this part of the shabd just reminded me of this...
  8. lol i can never tell if you're gettin sarcy or are actually serious
  9. waheguru reminds me of this: rom rom mih bsih murwir ] rom rom mehi basehi muraar || and on each and every hair, the Lord abides. Bhagat Kabeer Ji Raag Gauree 344
  10. i dunno some punjabi singer My point is pahji...don't wanna do one off things...if we have katha / veechaar on an ongoing basis then the interest/knowledge in sikhi increases...not everyone get's inspired in one hit...sometimes it takes time... there's no point in me taking my brother to see Sukha Singh Ji if he has no interest int he first place...gotta build it up..start off with katha/veechar on paath and stuff...you know keep it simple then move up like how you get at sikhi camps and stuff...it works well there...people enjoy it and are always goin on about how they love those 4/5 days learniing and meeting sangat...why can't we make it a weekly thing??
  11. lol pahji agreed, but you know what I mean... I ask my brother who Akali Nihang Bhai Sahib Bhai Sukha Singh Ji is and he'll laugh at my face...I'm better off asking him about snoop dog or miss puja
  12. ok never mind it's been explained...my mind must have been asleep to misunderstand
  13. Totally agree...amasing Gursikhs but let's be fair...we can't expect one singh to this all by themselves, can we? lol
  14. waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh I came across this in Bhai Gurdaas Ji's Vaar's and I don't REALLY understand it...I mean I get the gist of it but it's a little bit confusing and :6 This Shabad is by Bhai Gurdaas Ji in Vaars Bhai Gurdaas on Pannaa 1 puCin gl eImwn dI kwzI mulW iekTy hoeI] pushhan gal eemaan dhee kaazee mulaa(n) eikat(h)ae hoee|| Qazi and maulvis got together and began discussing religion. vfw sWg vrqwieAw liK n skY kudriq koeI] vaddaa saa(n)g varathaaeiaa lakh n sakai kudharath koee|| A great fantasy has been created and no one could understood its mystery. puCin Poil ikqwb no ihMdU vfw ik muslmwnoeI] pushhan fol kithaab no hi(n)dhoo vaddaa k musalamaanoee|| They asked Baba Nanak to open and search in his book whether Hindu is great or the Muslim. bwbw AwKy hwjIAW suiB Amlw bwJhu dono roeI] baabaa aakhae haajeeaaa(n) subh amalaa baajhahu dhono roee|| Baba replied to the pilgrim hajis, that, without good deeds both will have to weep and wail. ihMdU muslmwn duie drgh AMdir lhix n FoeI] hi(n)dhoo musalamaan dhue dharageh a(n)dhar lehan n dtoee|| By being a Hindu or a Muslim one can not get accepted in the court of the Lord. kcw rMgu kusuMB dw pwxI DoqY iQr n rhoeI] kachaa ra(n)g kusu(n)bh dhaa paanee dhhothai thhir n rehoee|| As the colour of safflower is impermanent and is washed away in water, likewise the colours of religiosity are also temporary. krn bKIlI Awip ivic rwm rhIm iek Qwie KloeI] karan bakheelee aap vich raam reheem eik thhaae khaloee|| (Followers of both the religions) In their expositions, denounce Ram and Rahim. rwih sYqwnI dunIAw goeI ]33] raahi saithaanee dhuneeaa goee ||33|| The whole of the world is following the ways of Satan.(33) Can somebody please explain it to me? I just can't get my head around it for some weird reason... thanks in advance waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh!
  15. When I used to read about sikh history etc. I used to be surprised to read that Gurudwara's were used not just for politics but open forums of debate and explanation/interpretation... Nowadays they are (like you say) used for akhand paaths (which are good) and politics on a Sunday...Katha is done but if you can't speak Punjabi...it makes little difference. What's the point in someone sitting there speaking for 2 hours when their words land on deaf ears? We should be able to involve sangat in discussions and hold question and answer forums and stuff... The problem is, people spend too much time looking to eachother to lead, to bring the solution, to do SOMETHING...and noone steps up...
  16. look how organised they are - and this is 7 years ago... http://www.geocities.com/hindutvapics/action4.htm
  17. what's the point in khalistan if core issues are left unsorted....sort the issues and khalistan will be yours...
  18. I kinda understand what you mean bhenji...it's a bit of a dilemma...I think the first and easiest place to start would be our own homes. I mean, I know for a fact that I'm not the only one here whose siblings and parents or other relatives or friends are starting (or have started) to slip down a very slippery slope away from Sikhi and Guru Ji... I suppose a start would be just to do some paath (with them) everyday, or start a group up at gurudwara , and try and go through what you learn...ie. what are the meanings behind the shabds you read etc.? That way as a group, youths and even elders would be more inclined to learn, want to join in, find out what is sikhi about - because from these meetings, people will discuss wider issues/topics in sikhi...so it becomes more like a forum... if you will lol dunno how to explain
  19. where will those recordings be up? and also is there any recordings of his asa di vaar?
  20. that is the most annoooooyin thing ever.... makes me cringe... someone did that with my fruit the other day i was like :o ended up giving her the whole bowl...
