  1. I aint a veggie...but i love veggie food...as most of my family are veggies. Quorn is such a great brand. Get some Quorn chicken style fillets and some llyod Grosman Chilli Madras sauce... Go for quorn, soya based stuff...etc...get my drift?
  2. Paaji, your sons have proper sardar names.I love them, so oldskool. And i like the sound of Sardar Singh
  3. I was thinking last night when i was out about babies names, and what i would name my son/daughter. Totally random seeing as i dont see myself having kids or being married for atleast 10 years. Anyway these are a few of the names which i love and were held by my ancestors. If I have boys: Shamsher Singh Bhagat Singh Bahadur Singh Baisakhi Singh Har Ditha Singh Ram Ditha Singh Kehar Singh Sucha Soorma Singh ( I LOVE IT) If I have girls: Channi Kaur Laila Kaur Thanthi Kaur Naraini Kaur What do you guys think and what would you choose...and please no-one start an arguement about Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji blessing a child with a name. Because this topic is just about names YOU like for kids. PEACE

    Uni

I dont know about those uni's BUT i got into Leeds Collage of Music...the BEST Music Uni in the uk. I started last week and it is damn amazing.Loving. Congratz to all of you who got into uni aswell hope it all goes well for you
  5. Ez evryone. Basically I know y personal statement worked cus the people at Leeds Collage of Music loved it.basically make it into a story about yourself.Simple.the uni basically want to know about YOU rather than your grades in the statement. hope that helps. by the way LCM is like the best music uni in the uk if not europe so...just shows how making a story can help.
  6. Damn...you lot still moaning about this. I love the way sitar girl breaks down exectly what everyone says. yes i have just come back from a great night out...kinda early cus its only 1.30 but still. i had a great time...at a drum and bass gig. so kool man dj hype, lemon d and dillinger were there. Sitar girl, i duno what kinda bars you been to...but me being a music student i go to all kinds on clubs/bars.Heres a few breakdowns of to how, generally, clubs are and whats goes on in em Dance/Trance clubs - generally a lot of tablets being thrown around, great music, normally kool people about to chill and chat with Reggae/Dub Bars - ALWAYS chillout, loads of weed there but atmosphere is amazing, again loads of kool people to chat with...thats how i met the band i am composiong music for now. Retro 70's/80's Bars - I find most to be generally full of middle aged women looking to get lucky, which is always fun to watch...music is ALWAYS kool. Never any weed...never any drugs...just kool people out for a good night with no harm. Drum n Bass Nights - Where i have just come from now...and it was amazing. Generally drum n bass nights never have fights, always have mad music...with drum and bass night dont expect to talk to anyone...just enjoy the bass and enjoy the music. General Student Bars - Student bars are the BEST for cheap drinks. Always a wicked student vibe, a few fights kick off but never ruins the night. Thrash Metal Gigs - The best gig i ever went to was a midnight Metallica gig in Birmingham where they did a Private gig. Such a kool atmosphere, always kool people cus they all got the same love for music as i do. Jazz/"Slient" Bars - If there is one place you must go, it is the rainbow in birmingham on a friday night when they have main bands on. They have the most amazing jazz bands their ( i know cus ive played there countless times) always a kool vibe, few weed smokers, no pissheads, AMAZING music. there are loads more but its now 2 am and i can't be arsed to write anymore. I love that this whole thing turned from a question into a full on arguement. Just makes me laugh at how serious people take minor things that are insignificant. anyway, im going to stay awake cus i gotta do some work for a bit.PEACE jah bless

  10. You lots moan to much man. Theres never going to be a right or wrong answer to this whole debate becuase only god knows what is right and what is wrong. Yes there are pros and cons to going out 2 clubs n bars but everyone has got their own opinion. Sitargirl, i respect your views on he whole clubbing thing but i disagree with them. i think that you should also respect other peoples views, cus at the end of the day, YOU don't know what is right and wrong and you never will.none of us do/will. Also im going out tonight to revolutions in leeds so join me cus its Pop night!!! Chardi Kalla
  11. I have still to meet an amrtidhari sikh women in a club. I haven't met a single one of them BUT amritdhari men I have met LOADS. I don't even think they know what they are doing. I can kinda understand non amritdhari cos they don't know anything about sikhi but surely once you've taken Amrit you have better sense. That's why I am so saddened cos these people are the future of our panth and they are the ones who tell other people to go clubbing.....people who are vulnerable, people who don't have the giaan but they themselves are so brainwashed by media and hype that they cannot see beyond that. please do not generalize people... u don't know how much or how little a person knows about sikhi... In this world you gots to generalise........its not a bad thing. I see a gora and I know I am not gonna talk in Punjabi to him purely because gorey don't know Punjabi.......and so its through this generalisation that when I see a gora person I talk in English to them. EVEN YOU DO THIS otherwise hoe do you know when to use punjabi or english?????? Likewise the general concensus is that if your amritdhari you have better gian on sikhi than the non amritdhari....I haven't taken amrit and I see no offence in this statement cos I expect those who take Amrit to be better than me and have better understanding. Aight i Know i aint the most religeous person in the world...but i KNOW about my sikhi. And the MAIN reason why sikhi was formed was to see everyone as equal and appreciate everyones individuality, correct? Now you generalising IS a bad thing...you throwing around all this anti sikhi stuff that only god knows the answer to isn't looking good on ur part. You're trying to speak for god and tell us what is right and wrong, where YOU have clearly said somthing "anti-sikhi" by generalising people.STOP
  12. I admit...that i am the koolest and sexiest...mr singh ever...and i aint the only one to have ever said that :D
  13. I'm kinda really interested in this statement.....you meet new people and you get to know someone for real?? Surely if your serious about meeting people there are better ways such as through youth work, volunteering...You sure you don't have other psychological reasons.... listen.you know nothing about going out to bars and clubs so you DONT know the atmospere and the diversity of people that do go out to bars. I love chilling n chattin n dancin with people that are amazingly refreshing to talk to. and no...to me..there is no better way to meet new people. If someone don't enjoy clubbing then thats their choice, i dont see them as doing somthing wrong by not going out. if you dont enjoy it then u dont enjoy it...thats fair enough.but for the love of god dont try and preach to me and tell me what im doing is wrong. I swear to god, paaji...you are the ONLY person on this whole website to have made absolute perfect sense. thank you.
  14. Kiddah People. Me im a Kesh Dhari Mr Singh just moved up to leeds to study Music Composition/production and Jazz for Uni ( at leeds collage of music). Me Personally i have been going out 2tobars/clubs for...a hell of a long time. one of the MAIN reasons for me going out is to meet new people and getting to know a little bit more about someone. and before anyone pipes up NOT ALL PEOPLE WHO GO TO BARS ARE PISSHEADS/CRACKHEADS/COKEWHORES etc. yes that goes on but not everyone who goes out to bars gets involved in that...in my experience most people dont. I love the atmosphere from a buzzing club. and i dont see the problem with dancing dude. everyone always brings up that "issue" and the same recycled crap is said over and over again. THERES NOTHING WRONG WITH DANCING. My point is enjoy yourself, dont <admin-profanity filter activated> about,go out meet new people and TRUST me...you'll be a more open person for it.
  15. I got 2 A's and a B A - Music Composition/Production A - Graphic Design B - Art and i got into the UNI i wanted...Leeds Collage of Music. Now all i gotta decide is if i take a year off now ...or later  Badiyan to everyone else with their results.
  16. I kind of agree, no-one HAS to embrace their punjabi roots, but you shouldnt knock people who do. Because tome being punjab is just as important as being a singh...same applies to most of my family ( most of whom are amritdharis). personally i dont think a lot of people understand tru punjabi culture...it isnt about drinking, women etc...thats just bull.tru punjabi culture is morels, respect for your family, courage, bravery, love for everyone etc yes there are some bad points to punjabi culutre but thats just with every culture . No culture is perfect
  17. bhai what your talking about isnt bhangra...thats whats known as "uk punjabi <admin-profanity filter activated>"...has nothing to do with true bhangra as much as people think it does...and i agree...the songs with meanings arent about anymore...song by chamkila, manak, shinda, faqir, ashiq jatt, asa mastana, Rangila jatt, yamla jatt etc....they aint about anymore.
  18. Ideally one cant be a singh/kaur before taking amrit bai..but its sad to see how singh/kaur are being misused. but chalo lets not discuss this here, let us tackle the dancing issue first :umm: . actually singh thats if your drunk(legless)...alcohol is known to give a person the feeling on invincibilty...ever noticed how the irish would drink before fighting an english man and 99pct of the time win...beacuae alcohol gives that feeling...its not the alcohol that makes them stronger its gives as they say "deutch courage"....trust me on this i know
  19. well true in a sense...but guruji gave singh and kaur as last names to promote equality omong us. so in that sense anyone should be able to have the name singh/kaur weather you drink/cut hair/eat meat etc....correct me if im wrong but that makes logical sense to me
  20. true someone said earlier...you cant be a singh and drink.me personally i think its wrong to be an amritdhari and think its right to drink but i think you can still be a (non amritdhari)singh and drink.
  21. yes i agree but in that case i am weak....beacuase i enjoy somthing that is against sikhi. but i aint going to forcemyself to stop somthing i enjoy yet...i do want to have amrit...eventually...but i dont feel ready ...anytime soon.
  22. thats all nice n good mate but how you say you a singh then keeping my identity...walking down the street proud with my Paghri and dhari. Having to fight against gorey/kaley and others since ive been born who have touched my kesh, touched my pagh...i think that warrents it
  23. thats pure narrow mindedness right there. 1stly Yes i am proud of being a son of punjab, just as much as i am proud of being a singh. and yes punjabi culture and sikhi go hand in hand. if there was no punjab there would be no sikhi. besides, Sikhi is my religion and part of my culture, just as punjabi shaat is part of my culture just. and no one said that bhangra is art of sikhi . cause it isn't its punjabi culture ... i think most people know that mate. Just cause sikhi doesnt state somthing...doesnt mean its wrong. Sikhi doesnt say anything is wrong with mendhi, so why you ripping on it. sikhi doesnt say theres anything wrong with rakhrian but yet people say its wrong...with no proof or backing why, only reason they can come up with is beacause its punjabi tradition.whats wrong with that, our roots lie in punjab don't they? And yes you hit the nail on the head you said sikhi doesn't "promote" dancing, doesnt say you cant dance. and i have seen people pull up certain bani's that say somthing about dancing, but i asked my babaji for a translation and he says it says nothing about NOT dancing. And im gona tell you how it is, i do like to drink, yes in that sense i am weak. but i dont live on alcohol. But alcohol doesnt make u a bad person, i hold my morels close and uphold them. And im confused about this whole "Handzworth Boyz Need to calm down", calm down about what? what has handsworth got to do with this conversation? Not reali!! Ther's loads of songs out there which are classed "bhangra" but has nothing to do with...bibia....alcohol...clubbing etc There's loads of songs about panjabi di dharti and their rich panjabi virsa...It may not be religious lyrics but atleast its got nuffing 2 do wiv alcohol and clubbing.. So true...i agree. i think that people "Think" they know about bhangra, but actually dont. Bhangra isn't purely about alcohol, women etc. bhangra is joyous music to uplift you. i feel that not everything has to be religeous. i think people need to find a balence between punjabi cultjure and sikhi...and not twist the bani 2 suit them...i think it can be interpreted in many ways but only god knows the tru way.
  24. Nothing better than going to a party and seeing a propa sardar dancing. I dont see anything wrong with it. Being a Sardar and a musician is a big thing...it promotes sikhi. sikhi and punjabi culture go hand in hand...neither would be what it was if it wasn't for the other. Plus i love seeing my dad (who's an amritdhari) dance and attempt to play dhol and baja n sing. Pricless. Plus Us singhs look the best when we dance :umm:
  25. No offence intended but, why are all the important topics forbidden. Such as...alcohol use, music, culture, etc...This is meant to be a Sikh Discussion site right? where sikhs can openly discuss with their brothers and sisters about issues they are having right?...well 99% of the topics i have started have been banned because they have been to do with issues in sikhi which involve stuff like drinking, meat eating, music etc. To me this site seems well one sided...like it is only meant for people 100% into sikhi and nothing else. I just wanted to know why the site is like this...rather than just getting banned and my topics from being deleted...if thats how you treat you own people, thats completely "anti sikhi".
