  1. Waheguru! An amritdhari, rehetwaan, nitnemi Sikh with an 'ucha-sucha' jeevan is a 'chalda-firda' parchaarak. I believe that it's not the lack of parchaar, rather a large quantity of low-quality amritdhari sikhs.
  2. I think it's one of those things where people pass a judgement, without having experienced it...all based on a third person's experience. Life doesn't work like that. I genuinely do not think that one can understand the bond between a mother and a child without actually having experienced it. One could have experienced how it is like, to have a loving mother (if one's fortunate enough)...but cannot understand what the mother feels until the woman becomes a mother...or in men's case - a father. Similarly, until one starts contemplating upon Naam (which one can only get after being blessed with Amrit), one starts to notice very seemingly-trivial things in life and starts understanding the bond between themselves and the SATGURU. The point I intend to make is that until, those people who pass judgements over Amritdharis, don't become Amritdhari...they cannot understand what it actually is like to be one. If they still do have such views, it's their minds and their karams. Satgur Saheb is generous enough, to bring the deserving, close to Himself. Those that are not Amritdhari...It's THEIR karam...We shouldn't bother about what someone else's view about us is....because deep within....everyone knows what they are...(not spirituality-wise, but character-wise).
  3. No, not that part bhaji...the "my sant" bit. :biggrin2:
  4. LOL! it's SO cute the way you say it, Bhaji.
  5. With due respect, Bhaji, whilst an ongoing investigation, I don't think you should expect answers to these questions on a public forum.
  6. If the names are true in the news article... The Singhs have both got families and little babies back home....The Khalsa Panth should pray for their chardikala!
  7. Erm...Nahi Bhaji...I think Darwin is mostly talking about the chemical and physical aspect of 'Evolution'.
  8. I think they refer more to the reincarnations than the Darwin's theory of evolution. The evolution theory in simple words is how very simple molecular structures got evolved to become complex organisms like humans and animals etc.
  9. Guru Gobind Singh Ji have written in Akaal Ustat: "Ek shiv bhae ek gae ek fer bhae raamchandr krisan ke avtaar bhi anek hain ll" translation: A Shiva was born, he passed away, another Shiva was born again (such gods took birth several times and expired), Likewise, there have been many incarnations of Ramchandra and Krishna. If a confused sikh asks you...then reply with the quoted Gurbani andask him which Shiv ji is s/he talking about? If it is a Hindu...simply inform that if everything was supposed to be replicated from their religion...there wouldn't have been a need to form another one. Guru Saheb could have simply inspired the good Hindus to be better Hindus. :dry2:
  10. Waheguru! I wish I could be of more help...but isn't there any Taksali or Nihang Singh around you, who could help you with translations? Also, to understand most of it one has to know quite a bit of the Hindu (so-called) mythology. Through out the bani, Guru Saheb talk of various warriors, saints, Devi-Devte etc. etc. only to explain that the basic of everything is Shakti...and that It is all Akaal Purakh's Shakti that is being occured!!!
  11. Erm...Luckily, my Singh had a puratan Gutka Saheb and I got to read it from there. But I'm sure it should be uploaded somewhere online too. http://www.scribd.com/doc/49223632/Ugardanti-Sri-Guru-Gobind-Singh-Ji
  12. Reading Gurbani and with the help of Gurmantar whilst meditation can help open and activate your chakras. We have been extremely blessed with the Gurmantar 'Waheguru' and the Gurbani that we've got...because it is said that if one is not entirely ready for experiencing the Kundalini Shakti...one can become insane. I firmly believe that such an instance wouldn't occur with someone meditating with the help of Gurmantar.
  13. http://www.studiesincomparativereligion.com/uploads/ArticlePDFs/74.pdf Linked above is a very interesting article about Shakta and Shakti. From what little understanding I got: Shakti is the Power of Akaal Purakh. Durga, Chandi, Laxmi, Annapurna, Kali etc. are Adi-Shakti's incarnations that have been formed when in need. Reading the Uggradanti bani helps to understand how the 'Shakti' phenomenon really works...and the bani's simply beautiful! P.S. The above linked article is more inclined towards the Hindu philosophy of Adi-Shakti. So, obviously it does not entirely fit the Sakhi of Sri Dusht Daman Avatar...
  14. How come they still allow scum-heads to enter the country then?
  15. What if Gurbani is being read whilst preparing Langar? (rather than the usual chit-chat) I s'pose the effect of the thoughts or sukhna and stuff should be cancelled by the gurbani being read, shouldn't it? S4NGH, Bhaji I don't think the rule's THAT strict but the maryada says, "Pehle pangat, paachhe sangat". Although I must say that I do feel a bit guilty and embarrassed if I sit to eat without having had Guru Saheb's darshan.
  16. I do not get this bit....Why would a complete stranger come up and propose? If someone knows you, they'd also know that you're married...
  17. Satguru Guru Naanak Dev Ji Maharaaj were 'Paarbrahm Parmeshar' themselves. The question of being 'mukt' should not arise because they weren't engulfed in anything...no vices, no Karam-chakkar...nothing. They were born a perfect being. The 'Mool Mantar' received later in life, was probably simply a matter of when it was supposed to happen. It does not indicate of Guru Ji's imperfection because they had the 'Guru-Jot' right from birth; i.e. they weren't given Gurgaddi as the other Guru Ji were. They were the avtaar of Akaal Purakh Himself. Hence, they were/are perfect.
  18. one pehar is 3 hours. so there 8 pehars in a day starting from 12am to 3am and so on. about madhyan....are you sure its madhyan and not madhya'm'? anyways, english transliteration can be very difficult. Madhyam means medium. and maddham means slow......i seriously do not know which one you mean.
  19. I know of someone who had a haircut earlier and has recently got amrit from Sri Anandpur saheb. His wife on the other hand obviously still has a haircut and wasn't ready yet for amrit (i dunno what future has in store for her) anyways...all i know from seeing them recently on vaisakhi nagar keertan is that this singh does a lot of sewa and my singh had noticed him doing paath all the way....and his 2.5year old daughter had worn a chola....so who knows what's next! guru kirpa!
  20. Bhaji, Je dekheya c tan rokeya kyon ni?...darr gye?
  21. Talikhaak ji, what the bhai saheb above means, is the proportion of everything required.
  22. HardeepSinghJee, every amritdhari has the name singh or kaur after their name.
