  1. Gurfateh I was just wondering, is there anybody i can contact who represents Damdami Taksaal in the United Kingdom - someone who could pass my thoughts, ideas, comments, on to the head? I understand with other jathebandhis there are representatives but im wishing to contact someone related to the official Damdami Taksaal / Akaal Takht. Im not as learned as most of you so please forgive me if i have made any mistakes.
  2. Maybe. I think more akhaaraas could be involved. There are many more akhaaraas around the UK which should be involved in this. At the moment, they are mainly the ones supported by Bhai Boota Singh - but hey, maybe in the future, we can look forward to more blood sweat and tears
  3. too many haters - too many people who want to bring others down - too many people who just cant bear to see others doing more for the panth than they are doing. There are too many youths out there who havent a clue of what Sikhi is truly about. It is really annoying me to the max now. Get back to your roots people and pehlo pyaar karna sikh lo.
  4. So back to the rehansbhai, will there be any transport from Birmingham at all?
  5. Nothing wrong with communicating the message through different genres as long as the message comes accross loud and clear and educates people on the events of 84

  8. Heart attack baby back from dead http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/west_yo...ire/6403389.stm A baby boy who was pronounced dead after a heart attack came back to life 30 minutes later as he lay in his grieving parents' arms. Medical staff at Leeds General Infirmary had tried in vain to resuscitate two-week-old Woody Lander. He was handed over to parents Jon and Karen Lander so they could say goodbye. After half an hour the couple heard the boy cough and doctors started his heart. Now 14 months old, Woody has been given a clean bill of health. Mr Lander, 34, a civil servant from Farsley, Leeds, had been travelling with his 32-year-old wife to his parents' house in Norfolk in December 2005 when they noticed their child turn white and cold. Woody was rushed to the emergency ward at Leeds General Infirmary where he had a heart attack. It was later discovered he had a blocked aorta. The doctors said they had never heard of anyone coming round after 30 minutes of apparent lifelessness Jon Lander, Woody's father Mr Lander said: "We were in bits. After what seemed like an eternity the doctor came out and said 'I think we have done all we can'. "They reached the cut-off point for resuscitation and said 'that's it' and handed Woody to us to say goodbye. "They started taking tubes out and that's when he started twitching. "They managed to get his heart going and he came back to life in front of us." Full recovery Brain scans have now shown no lasting damage and the Landers have been told their son can expect to lead a full and active life. Mr Lander said: "We still don't know how it happened. We just know he's a little miracle. "The doctors said they had never heard of anyone coming round after 30 minutes of apparent lifelessness, let alone a young baby. "But the people at the hospital were unbelievable and they made the miracle happen." Mr Lander is hoping to thank Leeds General Hospital by running in the Leeds 10k Run for All, set up by fund-raiser and terminal cancer sufferer Jane Tomlinson, later this year. He is raising cash for the Children's Heart Surgery Fund at the hospital.
  9. Congratulations to Aman Kaur jee on this great achievement(!) lol
  10. If someone has CHOSEN to emrace Islam, who the hell are we to go and start a vendetta against that person or the religion or people who wish to spread the word of their faith? If someone has been FORCED to embrace Islam, then hell yeah, lets sort them out. But i think here, the case is CHOSEN not FORCED... AND its not as though Sikh Socs dont bad mouth Muslims in their talks and cuss down their religion!!! If you cant take it, dont dish it in the first place either
  11. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa! Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh! send me that album please Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa! Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh! Ahhh can be found here http://www.ektaone.com/audio/Keertani%20-%...20ki%20jaan.mp3 found on page http://www.ektaone.com/audio/index.php?q=f...ana%2C+India%29
  12. Cov Sikh Soc this yr is not yet set up formally as said, singhs are not at the uni to do the seva. Not many people opted to do the seva due to the sanatan influence in previous years. Talks are underway with the uni to resolve and re establish the society for the coming new academic yr. THe numbers above are direct to the students union, they have a responsibilty to now investigate. The above was only discovered today, AFTER the event had taken place. What attempts do you suggest, awareness needs to be made, hence the need for the prevention of this happening again in other unis. Sikh Soc still has nothing to do with this. What response have you had yourself from the SU? Why not talk with them first, meet with them first, before going and spreading fone numbers and emails on forums, etc? The SU will see it as a <admin-profanity filter activated>-for-tat thing, the way you guys have gone about this. You could have tried to sort this out humbly with the SU first. "When all other means of communication have failed, it is then righteous to withdraw the sword". You begin with basics which is liasing with the SU first on a smaller scale and get bigger if those actions do not work. In terms of awareness... well, its our own fault for not having a Sikh Soc setup there, no one elses really. We should tackle the issue of parchaar on its own merit, not do it because he is saying this or she is saying that. I am just giving my suggestions here, please dont take it the wrong way that im dictating to you what to do and please forgive my mistakes.
  13. What attempts have been made to sort this out without spreading this all over forums and text messaging everyone? I know Student Unions and I know they are normally professional about such sensitive matters. I cant believe all these telephone numbers have been pasted above without the Cov Sikh Society themselves trying to sort the situation out. Whats done is done and its too late to stop the events which have past but i am sure that if this is carried out in a professional manner, the SU and the University will give us a bit more credit. Just my two cents.
  14. Whats happened? Seems to be working...

  20. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/6331033.stm Google blurs key images of India Google has agreed to blur some satellite images of India viewable via the Google Earth service. Citing security worries the Indian government has asked Google to reduce the detail in a selection of images. The government is drawing up a list of places it considers sensitive, which is expected to include military bases and government buildings. Many other areas in Google Earth have been blurred or censored at the request of other governments. The agreement to censor some locations viewable via Google Earth came out of a meeting between science and technology ministers from the Indian government and the search firm. In a report in the Times of India, the Indian government said that detailed plans of buildings and accurate maps could prove a boon to extremists. India's fears were first aired in 2005 - soon after the service launched. Other governments have asked Google to remove or blur images. Sites obscured in this way have included nuclear power plants, official buildings and the offices of security services. This has prompted many people to scour Google's virtual Earth looking for the places where this blurring has occurred. As its name implies Google Earth is a downloadable program that gives users access to a database of satellite photographs that have been stitched together to form a vast composite image of the planet. Image resolutions vary from 15m to 15cm. Google has also started annotating parts of some images with 3D representations of important buildings and places.
  21. I think the way they perform keertan is absolutely mind blowing. Absolutely beautiful and so damn unique i listen away in awe. I hear they (baljit singh, gurmeet singh) actually do not bow down nor follow the naamdhaari sect anymore. They have not changed their dastaar styles so look distinctively naamdhaari. As for the bani - please take this up with the keertani seeing as you are able to visit them and discuss with them. Everyone makes mistakes and thats all it could be. At least make the attempt to resolve the problems first before u go starting threads on a public forum. I go to rehansbhais and so forth and hear enough mistakes in bani that is sung - and if i get the chance to meet the keertanis afterwards, i ask them and then tell them what i know to be correct - this way, it helps me learn and them learn too. Forgive my mistakes on this post as well. Request this to be moved or removed if the above resolution for this issue is not partaken.
  22. Some fantastic replies, thank you all so much. I think theres a subconscious effect that amrit has - people dont realise it. I dont think Amrit is powerless. I think its empowering. But if your mind isnt ready for it... if ure soul isnt ready for it... it can can bring out ur vices more. Thats kinda something ive been picking up on with a lot of people i know. I was out at programmes all weekend and i still see it. I think "before u took amrit, u went around saying and believing that you were the 'dust off the sangats feet'... but now u dont go near anyone who has not taken amrit or you talk down to them". I didnt mean to say it has an effect on everyone - but ive seen it a lot nevertheless. Please forgive my mistakes and its always good learning from you all
  23. Nah they arent. Theres a lot of good in this world and soo much beauty -- we just need to do enough bhagti, naam simran to be able to appreciate it...
