    Hukam meaning

Waheguru I'm looking to loose weight and looking at diets or food plans. I asked Waheguru for advice first as it seems I need to eat more to gain muscle and more importantly lose weight. I was blessed with the Hukam below ਸਾਰਗ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ Saarang, Fifth Mehla: ਬਿਖਈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਨਿ ਇਵ ਹੀ ਗੁਦਾਰੈ ॥ The corrupt person passes his days and nights uselessly. He does not vibrate and meditate on the Lord of the Universe; he is intoxicated with egotistical intellect. He loses his life in the gamble. ||

What is the optimal nutritional regime for health & longevity? (this is not a vegi vs meat topic or anything like that, so dont start) I believe in Gurbani it says to talk little, sleep little and eat little. Is this just from a spiritual perspective so one can concentrate on bhagti or is this also best for optimal health? I know that intermittment fasting is popular these days and caloric restriction studies have shown positive effects on health and longetivity. I've heard in some samparda's they eat only twice a day, is that true? Can anyone shed further light on this that may
  4. Do you know how many vitamins there are? If you thought four... there are actually 26 in total. A person's body and health can improve hugely if we eat the right type of food. Brazil nuts, eat three and that'll be over 60% semolina in you. Eat 10 grams of pumpkin seeds that is the same amount! Raw carrots have vitamins A. I can go on BUT... It's important to consume one portion of steamed vegetable a day. A good portion in fact. Broccoli, cauliflower, sprouts, parsnips - NO saabji isn't right. It's good, should be consumed but defo not right as it's a hardcore effort to kill all the vitam
  5. HI all, I am looking for someone whom I can ask Sikhi question to? I have questions about diet and history in sikhism and would like to discuss it with someone knowledgable and qualified. The questions involve eating meat, drinking, and sex from a scientific perspective and historical perspective I am also looking for someone whom I can debate with on Sikh Channel TV on these issues.
  6. It's a well known fact that a correct diet ensures longevity, long life and resolves health issues. Youtube "Okinawa long life" and "Japan long life" for evidence. Over there since no pollution and junk food exists people aged 80 to 105 live lives like they're no more than 40. Even Gurbaani states "My appetite is simple daana paani" (simple cooked food like rice, steamed saabjia and water) or nature grown food. However, it's interesting to note that education fails to teach us of healthy living and benefits of it like after aged 80 the effects. The consumption rate of unhealthy food is hi

They will help you diet better and use your time efficiently, if wanting to lose weight through exercise. You should be able to get them from the local library like I did.
  9. I'm 23 and Mona. But the last year or so iv become really interested in sikhi. Iv stopped eating meat about a month back, stopped drinking, I read paath in the morning sometimes, do simran and have started going gurudwara 3/4 times a week, I only use to go like 3 times a year before! My parents have noticed the change too, dad thinks it's funny while mum is supportive. I have had the temptation to drink(I use to drink everyday) but each time I remind myself of trying to become a better sikh and not ruin it, which does help. Last few weeks iv been thinking of not cutting my hair anymore but I'
  10. This has been bothering me for some time now. It is as the title says, why does our respect for life stop with vegetarianism? When I suggest Sikhs should consider becoming vegan, it is become of the horrendous atrocities that occur within the dairy industry. Cows are forcefully artificially inseminated so that they get pregnant and lactate (produce milk) Their calves are taken from them so they don't drink the profits and then slaughtered for veal. They spend their whole lives in chains and being abused. Becoming pregnant and producing milk so often that raw milk is full of blood, puss and
  11. I have recently started going to the gym to gain some muscle. I have noticed that rather than finding it difficult to actually lift weights because they are too heavy, my problem is I become very fatigued over all very quickly (lack of stamina). I think it may partly be due to a VERY unhealthy diet. Could anyone please advise a simple diet plan which would provide me with enough energy needed for training? If you could incorporate punjabi foods into that that would be really nice of you . Obviously purely vegetarian.
