This question has been bothering me for many weeks now, to the point where its interfering with my simran/nitnem, making me look at faith from a perspective which is making me question it. Why is there so much suffering and evil in the world? God is something that we can never know but we can experience it or have a relationship with it, other than that we are told that God is "caring" "provides for all" "doesn't send anyone empty handed" "our father" "God is love and love is God" etc all that stuff. If God is all of the above then why are there so many people suffering in the world? Why is God allowing the suffering and not doing anything about it? Why are there millions of starving children in the world, dying out of starvation? why doesn't God, our father, provide for them? letting them starve to death instead? In poor countries like India parents are selling organs to corrupt doctors so they can feed their starving children, if God is the provider then why hasn't he provided for those children? but instead leaving parents with no option but to sell their organs? Which loving God puts his children through that? how is God caring and providing for them? Why is God letting toddlers get sexually molested and raped? Countless children around the world are getting raped, why is God letting that happen? that's a very funny way for a "loving" God to show his children that he loves and cares for them. Last week a 6 year old dalit girl from U.P was raped in Hoshiarpur by a Sikh man and his Grandfather, they told the little girl they will buy her sweets and she followed them and that's when they raped her. Why didn't God intervene? when this evil act was about to take place? Between the location where they offered her sweets to the location where they raped her, why didn't God intervene? There are millions of children who are raped like this around the world. Did God not love this child? if he did then that is a very messed up way of showing her that he loves her. When a 5 year old child is about to get gang raped why does God not intervene? why does he let it happen ? does he not love them? You can say it was "Gods will" well that's a very nasty and fcked up thing to write in someones will by a supposedly loving God, no offense to anyone .... I don't know why a loving God would write that in anyone's will. Its very easy for us here sitting in the west harping on about how Great God is and how God=Love etc try telling a father who is deciding which organ to sell next that God "cares" and "loves" his child, try telling a 12 year old girl that has been trafficked and sold to a red light district that God "loves" her and "cares" for her. Try convincing a mother whose 3 year old has been raped and killed that God "cared" and "loved" her child. Why would a "loving" "caring" and "all providing" God put his children through all that? For us in the west poverty is just a documentary or a news segment not reality, the biggest thing we have to worry about is having to work with someone you don't like, breaking up with your partner, annoying neighbors etc Why am i living a comfortable life here in the west, lazy and care free, while a man my age in India is deciding which organ to sell next to feed his starving children. Why ? Another thing, why does crime take place in the most holiest of places? like Harmandir Sahib? women get sexually assaulted there and children get kidnapped. I was once reading reviews of Amritsar and a White tourist wrote how his wifes bottom was groped by a man at Harmandir Sahib, he said he complained to the authorities and the authorities said it's the medias fault and how they portray White women. This kind of behavior at holy places is not unheard of. Its been in the news how children have been kidnapped at Harmandir Sahib, I'm guessing their either sold, trafficked or used as sacrifices for black magic. Why does God allow this to happen at these holy places? Guru RamDas ji is said to reside at Harmandir Sahib, then why did Guru Ji let these crimes take place at Harmandir Sahib? What hope is someones prayer who has traveled to Harmandir Sahib from 100miles away, when people are getting assaulted and kidnapped at the very place? Why is the West which basically has highest % of atheists and irreligious people the most comfortable place to live in, while places like Asia and Africa where most people believe in God are some of the worst places to live in, war zones, poverty and disease ? people are crying out to God for help in those parts of the world, while here in the west people openly mock religion and God, that's a very funny way for God to show his believers he "loves" them! why ?

Looks like things don't change in the 'Land of the Free' http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/sikh-uber-driver-passenger-gunpoint_us_5a85e21ae4b004fc319027dc Sikh Uber Driver Claims Passenger Pulled Gun On Him, Said, 'I Hate Turban People' Gurjeet Singh says he is traumatized, the Sikh Coalition reports. By Carol Kuruvilla SIKH COALITION Gurjeet Singh, a Sikh religious leader from Illinois, claims he was assaulted while driving for Uber in January. A Sikh Uber driver claims he was held at gunpoint on the job by a male passenger who asked questions about his national origin and allegiance to America. Gurjeet Singh, a religious leader from northwestern Illinois, said the passenger put a gun to his head on a nighttime ride on Jan. 28 and stated, “I hate turban people; I hate beard people.” Singh wears a turban and a beard as signs of devotion to his Sikh faith. The Rock Island County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the alleged assault but has yet to make an arrest. In the meantime, the local Sikh community is troubled that the armed suspect remains free, according to the Sikh Coalition, a national advocacy organization that is representing Singh. “We do still remain concerned that no arrest has been made and the State’s Attorney’s Office has yet to file hate crime charges,” the Sikh Coalition’s legal director and Singh’s lawyer Amrith Kaur said in a statement. “Mr. Singh and the local Sikh community have the right to feel safe. The reality is that hate crimes are not only attacks on individuals; they affect the entire community. They make all of us less safe, and everybody should be outraged by this.” Singh came to the U.S. three years ago to serve the Sikh community in the Quad City area on the Mississippi River as a granthi, an individual who helps lead Sikh congregations through hymns and prayers. He’s a legal resident of the U.S., Kaur said. In late December, Singh, who has a wife and a toddler, started driving with Uber to supplement his income. SIKH COALITION Gurjeet Singh has lived in the U.S. for three years. He has a wife and a toddler. At 10:39 p.m. on Jan. 28, Singh reportedly picked up two passengers ― a male and a female ― next to a tavern in Moline, Illinois. According to the Sikh Coalition, the man started interrogating Singh about his origins, asking questions like, “Which country do you belong to?” and “Do you serve our country or do you serve your country?” Singh, who speaks limited English, was “confused and scared” by the questions. He explained that he was Sikh and that he serves both the U.S. and his home country of India, since his parents still live there. “The attacker’s behavior escalated more and more as Mr. Singh tried to inform him about his religion, about the tenets of Sikhism, why he wore a turban,” Kaur told HuffPost. “As that went on, the attacker became more and more incensed, to the point where he pulled out a gun.” The woman in the car then “forcibly removed” the male passenger from the vehicle, the coalition said. She then apologized for the male passenger’s behavior and told Mr. Singh to drop her at home and to avoid taking the same route back to eliminate another encounter with the man.

Hello, I am a Sikh, or at least i think i am. I followed Guru Nanak all the way. I followed the 10 teachers who never taught hatred, but when the last teacher trusted us to carry on our own, i found hatred as my companion in all the upcoming years. I cannot bear someone arguing with me. I cannot be a SIKH who learns, teaches, inner peace. I am tinier than the tinniest particle when compared to the vast universe around me. My gurus showed me the scope of things but i chose to be arrogant and full of ego ignoring my small place in the universe. This could have stopped me from actually expanding my position in the cosmos. My people [correction: All people] faced adversities one way or the other at times. My Guru gave us a reaction strategy. This was supposed to be a small problem that was to be solved and we had to move on. But i mistook that skill as a new world order for my people [thats right, some people became my people now, rest were not even close to equal like me]... ...to be continued

For some reason I don't like Christians and I know Sikh talks about loving everyone but i really don't like Christians and its is annoying me that I don't like them, maybe because most of the population is Christian and people I used to look up to are Christian

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh, Is there any gurbani quotes/bhangtis where it states that it's bad for gursikhs to have hate towards each other/be rude to each other? Anything along those lines. I'd really appreciate it. Thank you! Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.

Out of interest was Muhammad a good logician? He established his own criterion (apparently from Allah) via which he commanded Muslims to recognize his so called divinity and integrity, but where is the subjectivity in that? What non-Islamic principles can prove his authenticity? Put simply, other then Muhammad's word what else is there to say Islam truly is the veracious path to God? Isn't it a defeatist mentality when da'wah givers penultimately proclaim that for not accepting Islam you will burn in hell?

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Sangat Ji, I am posting in the Gupt section because I have a very big concern I need help with. Before I divulge into the details of my problem, let me introduce you to myself and my background. I live in Canada, I am a university student, and am kesdhari. I'm in my early 20's and believe to have a good head on my shoulders. I come from a religious family who are amritdhari (I am not at the moment). Alright, now onto my query. For quite some time, my parents have been asking me to find myself a girl for marriage. At first, I never gave it much thought; many of the girls I know and am friends with are already seeing people, if not, they have been in prior relationships and have a "history" if you know what I mean (as far as rumours go - that in itself is another thing). Anyways, about a few months ago, I met this girl online. She's from a White, Catholic family. However, she gave up Catholicism and converted to Sikhism (has not taken amrit, but has adopted the Sikh way of life as much as she can). Her and I have been talking for quite some time now and decided to move our relationship from friendship to dating (I know many of you here may oppose this, however, I am fine with this notion so if you have any comments regarding your opposition to dating, please refrain from doing so). We have not done anything inappropriate at all (no kissing, inappropriate touching, etc). Even before we were dating, I found myself liking her, however, held back since I did not want any negative emotions to overcome me. Therefore, I took a hukamnama from Guru Granth Sahib Ji. In my ardas, I asked Guru Ji to let me know if it was okay to move the friendship further, however (and obviously) to refrain from any negative emotions that may come between her and I. So, ideally, to be in a relationship, however, not doing anything that would make her and I deviate away from Sikhi. The Hukam I received was "Santha Ke Karaj Aap Khaloya, Har Kamm Karavan Aaya Raam" - which comes in Raag Suhi, ang 783. Having read the hukamnama, I believed Guru ji to be informing me that her and I meeting was destined to occur (also, do note I do not consider myself a Sant by any means, however, this was my interpretation of the hukamnama). Now, when my parents ask me if I found someone, I've suggested the idea of marrying someone non-Punjabi (i.e have said White person). My parents flipped out, and my dad went on a huge swearing fit saying he'll never let it happen, and if it does, he'll kick me out of the house and disown me. On top of that, my parents have been really rude as of late, with my dad still swearing at me. I do not know what to do. I have taken 2 more hukamnama's asking for Guru Ji's help, both times Guru ji has said to meditate on Waheguru for my desires to be fulfilled. I do not know what to do. I trust in Guru Ji and believe everything will be fine. However, I do not want to leave my family, or get kicked out, for something that isn't that big of a deal (in my opinion). She's a devoted Sikh, and wants to take amrit in the near future. Sangat ji, I guess what I'm asking is, can you please give me some advice, and also do ardas for me, so that everything goes well and that her, my family, and I can live under one roof happily? I apologize for the long post and for taking your time (though, I appreciate you reading this). Thank you!
