  1. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! I made this thread as a way to give my own personal tips on how someone can limit the influences of massive increase in Kaam, these being pornography and masturbation, (Note: not doing these 2 does NOT mean you beat Kaam, but that's where the problem is started.) This is also the male version of the problems, I don't know the causes of females going towards these things, so I won't discuss too much on it, but; hopefully I can assist them as well. Also I'm not an expert on any of this stuff, just felt the need since it's a big topic to provide legit assistance. I will be adding more on, the first post is just intro. Some important things to note: 1. Why does someone have Kaam? Since the beginning of time, you have been carrying the power of Haumai, and from Haumai comes the 5 evils, one of these being Kaam and Kaam especially effects us, because of we have usually wanted to stay productive with reproduction and so in possibly many animal lives, we've been having sex like crazy people, these traits carried on till we became human, (which in a way tells us why some people have crazy fetishes). 2. Is Masturbation and Pornography related? My experience on this has been that they are only slightly related, but the reasons for them are different. Porn acts as a depresent; which means it's meant to take something from you; while masturbation happens due to circumstance-based. You can do both exclusively, but due to the nature of porn both usually go together. 3. Is there hope? This is the good news, and something we can be grateful for. That is the blessing of the greatest Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji holding our hands and freeing us from all our past deeds, and gives our life true meaning instead of being Ghulamis to our own problems. The greatness of being a Sikh can not be comprehended into normal thoughts or words, and even Kaam himself surrenders at the name of the blessed Guru. This is just a tiny intro on the basis of the issue, I plan to delve further into it, what my experience has been, why it's not going to be easy, and why there is hope for anyone if there can be hope for someone like me.
  2. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! How exactly did the Missionary Jatha get it's influence especially among the majority of those who aren't Amritdhari? Is there a reason why true Gurmat is being attacked by our own people? Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

    Meaning of Vaisakhi

Wjkk wjkf, I am curios to understand what does Vaisakhi mean to those that are not Amrithdhari/have cut their hair/don't exactly identify as Khalsa per say. This question stems from my understanding of Vaisakhi which is basically the birth of the Khalsa. And while many identify as Sikh, not all Sikhs are part of the Khalsa (do note that many have subjective views as to how they identify with being Sikh).

  5. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Any solutions? It happens a lot, don't know how to fix my weak focus. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

  7. WJKK WJKF I was reading some gurbani quotes on feminism etc and one quote stuck out: jit jameh raajaan Guru Nanak empowered women by saying "from her kings are born" and previously within this Bhangti Maharaj empowers women through the experience of men, noting that when a man's wife dies he seeks another woman so he is bound to woman. During the times of Guru Nanak these words were revolutionary... but now is it not fair to say that empowering woman through powerful men is somewhat outdated? And therefore should we read GGSJ in the context of when it was written. Bhul Chuk Maaf karo
  8. Hello, I am a Sikh, or at least i think i am. I followed Guru Nanak all the way. I followed the 10 teachers who never taught hatred, but when the last teacher trusted us to carry on our own, i found hatred as my companion in all the upcoming years. I cannot bear someone arguing with me. I cannot be a SIKH who learns, teaches, inner peace. I am tinier than the tinniest particle when compared to the vast universe around me. My gurus showed me the scope of things but i chose to be arrogant and full of ego ignoring my small place in the universe. This could have stopped me from actually expanding my position in the cosmos. My people [correction: All people] faced adversities one way or the other at times. My Guru gave us a reaction strategy. This was supposed to be a small problem that was to be solved and we had to move on. But i mistook that skill as a new world order for my people [thats right, some people became my people now, rest were not even close to equal like me]... ...to be continued
  9. These are Sampardaic and in English. The opportunity was taken to translate and promote Sikh books and literature not available. If you are interested they can all be found ont he link below. Please take a look and if interested you can order directly off the site. If you have any questions please contact me on kam1825@hotmail.com http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/Kamalpreet_Singh_Pardeshi Thanks
  10. Why do some Pakhandi Babas use Sikh Gurbani to brainwash the innocent? Recently on Youtube I looked-up: "bahut janam bichde the madho", and saw so many Pakhandi Babas on the list of recommended, ranging from Radha Swami, Ravidassia, and some random Pakhandi Babas there and there. If they want to use Sikh bani they should at least promote the idea of Gurmat to bring people to Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib, not themselves.

    Hate

For some reason I don't like Christians and I know Sikh talks about loving everyone but i really don't like Christians and its is annoying me that I don't like them, maybe because most of the population is Christian and people I used to look up to are Christian
  12. I must say one impressive thing about muslims is their numbers, atleast here in india ! the way they multiply sends shivers down these right-wingers lol Why are sikhs so shy ? Why don't we have many kids . Most governments today are democratic which means numbers is power. No politician cares for sikhs because we don't have numbers But at the same time if you look at jews, they have lesser numbers but still power. Muslims, christians and hindus have quantity, Jews and parsis have quality. What about sikhs?
  13. State govt of maharashtr allocates 3600 crore rupees to build a memorial of shivaji , their god (who ironically doesn't have a temple, unlike other actual dieties of hindus) . His old forts are being repaired by allocation of hundreds of crores of rupees. RSS and hindutva does love this warrior king WAY TOO MUCH for too reasons 1) He was hindu king who fought mughals and other muslims , and most importantly, 2) He didn't challenge existing brahmin supremacy and rather appointed 8 brahmin heads in his council of ministers and called it "asht pradhan" (eight cardinals). No wonder everyone loves him so much here and more than god . But brahmins still won't allow a temple be built in his name. They just used him and his ignorance of religion to usurp power. Meanwhile, same maharashtr govt made changes to hazur sahib act so that the president of Hazur sahib would be directly appointed by the govt and not the board . They appointed a "sikh" MLA as new president of hazur sahib who wears tilak on his forehead and worships hindu gods. How could we have allowed this to happen right under our noses is BAFFLING ! Rather we welcomed his appointment with open arms and felicitated him . What has happened to our sikhs ? There's definitely a maratha revivalism happening right under our noses right since BJP came to power in 2014 in center and also current maharashtr govt is BJP ruled headed by brahmin chief minister. Marathas agitate for reservation but looks like CM (brahmin) isn't giving them any , but just pretense that he will . It is obvious even at superficial observation of things that brahmans just want to use maratha warrior clan to their own benefit . I am now wondering the ways these evil people have been manipulating "apney" in punjab (badals) . As our own state punjab is in disarray like never and our kaum is confused and lost like never, while the ones we thought as our brothers have now come to back stab us , I feel very uneasy Does anyone else here getting my thought process ?
  14. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Can anyone explain logically why caste still exists in our Panth? Especially among those who tell everyone caste doesn't exist to the outside, but when it comes for actually putting it into practice they forget everything about the right side. There are Hindus today who value their personal caste less than some Sikhs which is just depressing if you asked anyone. Also how can we logically combat this idea in some old-aged Pakhandis minds. Especially among Pakhandidharis, (those who took Amrit yet still keep Non-Sikh practices), which makes people question the need for Amrit. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
  15. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Why is there such a bad gender ratio of fewer female Amritdharis than that of male Amritdharis? Do the parents teach the daughter about the need for Amrit or what? (Also I seem to notice that some of them seem to be told off that if they want to take Amrit to wait till marriage; which only hurts this ratio more.) Is there a way to get both males and females interested, in the olden days people begged to take Amrit, now pracharks are begging for others to take Amrit. (Also if someone falls in Prem with Guru Sahib; what stalls them from taking Amrit.) Just wanted to know these questions with the answers. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
  16. How to remember Vaheguru 24/7?
  17. Okay, this is something that happened a couple of years ago. It was summer and I was just going to a friend's house, to play some Playstation, the best way to pass your 3 Month Summer Holidays. I was passing near this small medieval Byzantine Church AND I noticed some shoes outside, near the door. Well, that actually surprised me, because it was very weird for Greeks to enter barefoot their church. (Even the nearby living Gypsies don't go to churches without their shoes on) So, I decided to open the door and see who was in and what the hell was going on. To my surprise, 3 Indian aunties from Sikh backrounds, who lived just some blocks away, were doing "matha tek" of the murals and images of Jesus and Orthodox Saints, and were singing "κύριε ἐλέησον- kirie eleison" meaning "lord bless us". They saw me and I asked "auntie ji, tusi ithe ki karde a?". They replied "kush nahi put, we were just going to the super market and we decided to stop here". These were the same aunties who performed yajna in the nearby mandir and also perform pilgrimage of Saint John the Russian (this is a crazy thing, every year apnay will ask us whether they could park their cars in our yard in order to walk 20 kms uphill to receive blessings from the mummified body) but would only once in two years spend some petrol to go to Gurdwara. Why so little trust in Guru sahib? I have tried to convince many people, but all end up saying "meri dadi vi shiv de mandir jandi si" or "my bhapa have received murad from the sai".
  18. I'm not going to rant about congress badal AAP etc and the apparent stupidity of the panjabis. Same jail, new jailer. Putting the obvious negatives a side, can we focus on the few positives? 1) badal drug mafia raj comes to an end. For today. 2) As far as I'm aware, captain is against SYL (??) 3)....?
  19. Disclaimer foreword : I don't intend to spread any kind of animosity between two communities but will just share the kind of things hindus said about our sikh gurus, about our dastaar , etc. This is my first hand experience. I joined my current office in July 2015. I wanted to get along well with everyone , but soon realized my distinct appearance (turban and beard) didn't go well along with some of them. In lunch table I started getting ridiculed I remember this motherfucker started mocking me. He was a south indian 1) Why do you tie that thing on your head ? to keep your head from exploding ? 2) Why do you people wear that dagger ? *after I explained him , "So if a sikh woman is gonna chop vegetables, but forgets her knife in kitchen, can she use Kirpan?" 3) What do you do if you gotta ride a bike ? how you going to wear your helmet ? 4) What you gonna do if you got an itch on your head ? how you gonna scratch ? *laughs* One of them other , when I showed him a pic of Guru Gobind Singh ji made a face of disrespect and said "What has he done ?" . then finds and shows me 'santa banta jokes' . "this is only thing you're good for, this is your only history lol" He's a loyal far-right winger "nationalist". All the while, these people always kept praising shivaji , their hero , even this south indian guy kept praising shivaji .They would talk of going to temple together. So it proves they do have some hindu sentiment in them . They're not truly atheist ! I had heard of RSS people in my earlier years, but this was first hand hate experience of hate from hindus ! When I told them of sacrifices of sikh gurus, they usually went in denial mode. I was honestly very revolted. I once cursed one of them "may you die with maggots inside you " . Once these people also called Khalsa terrorist ! And mocked sikhs right to wear kirpan ! Also , these people always united , even if one of them said wrong to me . I didn't used to hate hindus, but after these experience, I would say I don't really call them "brother" as I used to !
  20. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! What's the best online version of Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji to read online with simple searching? I used to use Srigranth.org but that's fallen with this message: MESSAGE TO USERS: A number of websites, including srigranth.org, on this server are currently not working as the server machine had completely failed (in the beginning of Feb 2017) while machine managers were on vacation. While we are back it will take time to restore the websites. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please bear with us, as it will take some time.

    Distracted During Amrit Vela

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Can anyone tell me how to stop being distracted during Amrit Vela; (sometimes I get sleepy, or other times I think about what I'll do during the day when the sun is up, or other nonsense while doing Gurmantar Jaap). Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
  22. Looking through historical paintings related to Punjab, in general, and Sikhs, in particular, I have encountered a turban style that looks like the patkas/keskis that small kids war but also has some similarities with dumallas. This style can be seen from very early Sikh paintings of the Gurus and also in late British paintings. The turban helmet of the Sikhs was also based on this style. I think that it stopped being used in the 1850s because the triangular shaped turban; that actually had developed as a cover for the smaller turbans; became immensely popular.
  23. While travelling through pakistan i came across these scriptures (pics attached) , can someone help me here with identifying these ? Are these of any historical or spiritual value to Sikhism ? (These are currently not in my possession, but with some Pakistani antique dealer) would it be worth getting these from him ? Any help translating these would be much appreciated !!
