  1. No one is probably gnna answer this lol But do you live up to your name? If you have a Sikh/Punjabi name then it has a deep spiritual meaning behind it, have you lived up to yours? I certainly haven't ! My name is a half Sanskrit and half Punjabi, I won't give the exact meaning but another meaning can be one who has conquered their desires. One should try to live up to their name, after all it was Guru Sahib that chose your name/the first letter. It should inspire you.
  2. My name wasn’t decided from taking hukamnama when born (cos my family didn’t follow sikhi then) So when I take amrit do I have to be given a new name? I mean first name cos I already use Singh to my surname

  5. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! What is "NAAM"? Gurbani.org in an article basically states that Naam is knowledge Link to article: https://www.gurbani.org/gurblog/gurbani-defines-naam/ While other sources state that Naam is just the name of god. My question is simple: What is "NAAM"??
  6. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Found this article, and I do think it relates to some things going on among Sikhs today. As much as 70% of Thailand Sikhs have Non-Sikh names there. http://m.timesofindia.com/city/chandigarh/sikhs-adopt-thai-names-to-gel-with-local-populace-in-thailand/articleshow/59994438.cms

  10. I was reading "Harmander Darshan" by Dr. Saroop Singh Alag, where he beautifully explained in couple of lines, why "Harmander Sahib" is called "Harmander Sahib". He says, where there is hanuman moorti/idol, it's called Hanuman Mander, if they have shiv moorti, it's called Shiv mander, so and so. But Sri Harmander Sahib is the house of Hari - hareya hoeya, saareyan nu hareya karan wala, har tha vasan wala, har-ik di paalna/daya karan wala, har-ik de layi khula, thats why its called "Harmander Sahib". The writer has also shared real-life stories of the sikhs and non-sikhs having amazing spiritual experiences in Harmander Sahib. I'll try to post them in short as I read along. waheguru
