Firstly does the same problem occur on both computers? if so then the XP installation disks are bad. If it only happens on one of the computer then i think ur hard disk drive is messed up, i had that, my disk was almost dead, it let me install windows and then after rebooting it would just hang.

From wat i see you can do a few things,

detarmine whether the hardware is currpot (mainly Hard disk drives), i think bad memory can also cause problems, so check either of them.

Secondly detarmine whether the software disks are bad.

ok

balait

umm its the same problem on both computers

i used to different recovery disks

although they are from the same company

so maybe it could be the recovery disk?

but i also tried my own copy of xp professional and it never worked

so that leads me to beleive that it is hardware....so how would i go about checking if it is a hardware problem, considering both computers were working yesterday

well its hard to imagine it being faulty hardware on both computers. but make sure there is no external hardware attached to the comps.

ok start from begining

dont format ,

delete the partitions, then format in NTFS format, windows xp setup lets u do it

then install xp on it.

see if that works.

if not you may want to install somehing like win 98 to see if that works.
