I think Bhagat kabeer ji is saying, he is the henna, the mehndi, the orangey stuff brides apply to hands and feet at weddings, he is saying he crushed himself, he made himself the mehndi, ready and waiting to be applied, but God did not apply it/him to His feet i.e. bhagat ji did everything he could, everything he should, he is talking in humility, he is saying like stilllll after doing everything he possibly could he’s not good enough because God still didn’t apply him to his feet, i.e. give him darshan/glance of grace etc, mehndi is used as imagery (correct my mistakes please!!)

He Himself grinds me, and He Himself rubs me; He Himself applies me to His feet.
