Dissapointed Again

Recommended Posts

I recently viewed Mrsikhnet's blog like a usually do in the morning, and as usuall there is something new and interesting to see. I must say that his blog is often very inspirational and nice, yet on the rare occasions, there is a rther odd posting, and it strikes me that something as contraversial and edgy as the Jakara movement is being supported by the website: Jakara Post grin.gif

While it is a good movement in terms of "trying" to promote sikhi, some question the video and the actuall "sikh" participants that are seen in the video. Not to mention the odd layout of the agenda for these events. I think the movement is legit, but could use some fine tuning and at least there should have beem some amritdari women shown (the last time i checked, amritdaris wear dastaars??).

and one comment really struck me, it's at the 2 minute mark in the video...

The whole point to this thread is why is a amritdari promoting or even showing links to such an event without at least any concern for the lack of sikhi heritage in it??

I don't think alot of people would be impressed by this post... :@

I don't wish to comment on the topic at hand (I'm sure we can all do with one less opinion in this beehive of potentially volatile self-expression... :@ ), but I will say that these types of reflective and insightfuly posts that are made with open minds and pure hearts are what gives me inner encouragement that the philosophy of Guru Nanak Dev Ji is on the verge of being rediscovered and reborn in a way that is more pure and untainted than it has been in almost three centuries; a way that will allow it to fit into and accomodate the modern world in the perfect unison that it deserves to.

Rock on.

Lionchild i do believe with you that there should be more amritdaris in the videos, and suprised as are you, that Mr.Sikhnet is posting this on this website, because it has nothing to do with sikhi, but with how women should be treated, bz theres no amritdaris in the video.

Dont get me wrong, i do support the cause of the Jakara, bz Guru Nanak Ji said that "without women there is nothing" so i dont support the beating or the abusing that women recieve. I do like that women are getting together expressing there felling and how they should be treated.

It must have been a rude comment then.

He doesnt have to post things Amritdhari. Its his blog. That means you cant say/post anything that is Amritdhari because you are not. Get real.... all you do is critisize everything to do with them.

Go and state the rules of what we can post or not post on our blogs.

You make me wonder what your pupose is being a Sikh grin.gif To make us look bad?:<Edited>: or uneducated? :@ or rude? ohmy.gif

Your just mad :'( because its a women thing and you couldnt fill out the poll. blush.gif

well you did post up those usueless threads and critisise the mods/admin didnt you??

Anyways the reply simple stated that i was dissapointed that this movement lacks amritdhari women and that bhangra was being performed or was in the plans, on the same day the remember the shaheeds! is this how we remember them? not only that, the video did not give mich insight into amritdari life nor demonstrated very good dress codes... this is not critisism so much as it is being concerned... you have the right to voice a concern, like so many people have... i also mentioned that the concept of gathering sikhs was good, but the ledership and way the presented it was not so good...

Your not a person to question things are you pritam singh??

Aw, what the heck...yeah, sexual discrimination has about as much place in Sikkhi as a fish does flying in the sky.

Makes you wonder: if such simple corruptions as sexual discrimination, assault, etc, what else have we allowed to creep in over the last three hundred years?

Thinky, thinky...

If the sangat does not question, propose and reform, outside forces will do it for them.

That didnt sound like a question.I see what you mean but that was put wierd.

I see what you are saying because I saw this 3 months ago and emailed the girls about when she said "I wear a short skirt and when she dates a guy he doesnt want her to wear one."

I emailed saying women in Sikhi shouldnt wear those kinds of clothes anyway no.gif but I didnt say it rudely.

They have a right to gather. Sikhi also is social and not only religious gatherings. But the should have Ardas before and after so it has God in mind at this youth event.

    • Definitely the Guru Sahibs would be a heavier Scriptures to handle. Dasam Granth is more towards Bir Rass, Guru Gobind Singh showed his Greatness (of course, they would never say this) by separating his own Baania.  And the BIGGEST test of all?? Do we try and read Dasam Granth, Understand n show respect like we do to SGGS? Or... Do we QUESTION it? Guru Gobind Singh Ji is testing us.
    • My wife will be going for an MRI scan next week but her Kara won’t physically come off.  Is there any way the mri scan can be done with the Kara still on?  The alternative is we will have to try to saw it off before the scan.
    • was researching this and came back to this thread. Also found an older thread:
    • Net pay after taxes. If you don't agree, think about this: If you were a trader and started off in China with silk that cost 100 rupees and came to India, and you had to pay total 800 rupees taxes at every small kingdom along the way, and then sold your goods for 1000 rupees, you'd have 100 rupees left, right? If your daswandh is on the gross, that's 100 rupees, meaning you have nothing left. Obviously, you owe only 10% of 100, not 10% of 1000. No, it's 10% before bills and other expenses. These expenses are not your expenses to earn money. They are consumption. If you are a business owner, you take out all expenses, including rent, shop electricity, cost of goods sold, advertising, and government taxes. Whatever is left is your profit and you owe 10% of that.  If you are an employee, you are also entitled to deduct the cost of earning money. That would be government taxes. Everything else is consumption.
    • No, bro, it's simply not true that no one talks about Simran. Where did you hear that? Swingdon? The entire Sikh world talks about doing Simran, whether it's Maskeen ji, Giani Pinderpal Singh, Giani Kulwant Singh Jawaddi, or Sants. So what are you talking about? Agreed. Agreed. Well, if every bani were exactly the same, then why would Guru ji even write anything after writing Japji Sahib? We should all enjoy all the banis. No, Gurbani tells you to do Simran, but it's not just "the manual". Gurbani itself also has cleansing powers. I'm not saying not to do Simran. Do it. But Gurbani is not merely "the manual". Reading and singing Gurbani is spiritually helpful: ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਭਾਖਿਆ ॥  ਗਾਵਹੁ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਪੜਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੈ ਤੂ ਰਾਖਿਆ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ The Lord's Bani and the words are the best utterances. Ever sing hear and recite them, O brother and the Perfect Guru shall save thee. Pause. p611 Here Guru ji shows the importance of both Bani and Naam: ਆਇਓ ਸੁਨਨ ਪੜਨ ਕਉ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਲਗਹਿ ਅਨ ਲਾਲਚਿ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਰਾਣੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ The mortal has come to hear and utter Bani. Forgetting the Name thou attached thyself to other desires. Vain is thy life, O mortal. Pause. p1219 Are there any house manuals that say to read and sing the house manual?
