Converting Videos.

I use AVI when I want to make the videos DVD compatible.

I haven't ever converted DV files to AVI as I have only converted straight from the camcorder to avi using WinDV. But, there is this and this that you can try.

I'm guessing your DV files are 12GB~. After conversion, I guess they will be of similar size. In order to make them DVD size (and playable on dvd players) you need to use software such as TMPGEnc. I used this tutorial (step 4 onwards if you're interested) for making my DVD's. The software allows you to create menu's etc too :)
