^ Staff likely won't tell you off at a University. If anything, they will simply call campus security and have you escorted. Check with the Uni authorities where they stand on this.

A word of caution: I remember when I wore a 12 inch kirpan on the outside at a Sikh event held at Uni. As I walked down the hall, people coming from the opposite direction made room for me! I was high on cloud nine thinking "wow, I must look really impressive today" until I realized the reason people were getting out of my way because they saw my 12 inch kirpan and got scared  Last thing you want to do at Uni is scare people and alienate your self; tread carefully.

EDIT:

Can you walk around with your kirpaan out in Aston Uni or do staff tell you off for it?

u sound like such a wimp!!!so what if staff tell u off!!!!!!!!ur not at primary school. jeeezzz

The University i go to i wear my Kirpan 13.5 inch kirpan on the outside. I usually get a lot of looks but usually don't care.
That's not a good attitude to have, you will learn this once you get a little older.
But this guy instead of asking me about the Kirpan went and snitched to security. Who snitches in university lol?
If you see where he was coming from, he did the right thing. For them kirpan is nothing more than a weapon.

I see what your saying but u dont understand. Im from the Brampton/Toronto area. Here you can wear a kirpan and nobody gives you a second look. Cops drive by u and don't look at u twice or anything. In Brampton/Mississauga basically the whole GTA area nobody no matter what their skin color or religion gives u a second look for wearing a kirpan (most of the time) because of the huge # of Sikhs that live in the area. That is why I was so shocked that at the University somebody got scared and called security (because im so used to getting no looks). The place I go to University is only a hour away from Brampton and its so weird that only an hours drive away people are so unaware of what a Kirpan is. But yea i guess he did do the right thing from his point of view.
