if you want to take the laha then listen to sant giani gurbachan singh jis katha of the Sri guru Granth Sahib Ji which is so deep that it leaves and individual exhausted due to the glory of god while Giani Ji's katha is a real let down from what was expected of him.

End of the day why just sip the malai of your milk when you can have the milk as well to gain fulfilment!

Giani Ji's Katha is so reletively poor in that complete katha that anyone can understand the meanings without his katha. It is so simple that is is no different to the meanings found in the english translated pdfs you can get off the internet. it does not add anything to it. It does not tell you where the shabads are recited, who is being the discourse, why it is taking place, the inner meanings?

Before Giani Ji started the katha he said it would be based at an intermediate level so its not too basic and not too difficult with the uthanikas present. All i can say is save your time and listen to Sant Gurbachan Singh Ji's katha and if you find that too difficult then listen to Sant Avtar Singh Jis Katha at least you will gain something Adhyatmik which is the whole point of katha and not to give basic understanding that does not assist the atma meeting parmatma
