Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji and the Akaal Takhat.

When the Akaal Takhat was first constructed it was built by the hands of Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, Baba Buddha Ji and Bhai Gurdas Ji. It was in the shape of a Tharra or platform and once it was complete it was suitably decorated and strewn with flowers.

Baba Buddha Ji and Bhai Gurdas Ji came over to Guru Sahib Ji and said that now that the Takhat was complete it would be fitting if Guru Ji took their rightful place upon it. Guru Ji walked over and sat down on the floor next to the Takhat. Then Akaal Purkh spoke to Guru Ji “Why do you not sit on this Takhat that you have prepared?”

Guru Ji said in all humility “ O’Lord, this is the Akaal Takhat and has been prepared in Your name, how can I sit upon it?”

“There is no difference between you and Me” AkaalPurkh replied ”We are one and the same” Upon hearing this Guru Ji Mutha take’d and stepped upon the Takhat and sat down to the great delight of all the Sikhs present.
