101 Children Need Help.

16 students have been denied entry into school and 85 students are at high risk of also being denied entry if we can not maintain payments.

An urgent matter has come to our attention on Monday 4 March 2013.

There are currently 101 children belonging to families who survived the 1984 November Genocide who are in need of support for their education. £7500 is needed to ensure that the education of these children continues. Registered charity Seva84 and other organisations have highlighted many times that drugs and crime is rampant in Tilak Vihar, it is believed that 200 children belonging to families who survived the November 1984 genocide have already died to drugs since 1984. For this reason it is pivotal that these students remain in education.

Issues similar to this have occurred the previous years, where sangat have intervened and helped families to pay the necessary fee’s, but this year more students then previously have been unable to pay their fee’s which is partly due to the population in each home increasing which puts pressure on household spending, particularly if there are family members in need of health treatment.

All week, Seva84 have held a number of meetings with respected elders of the community, key figures in the Delhi youth, representatives of other organisations in Delhi, members of the school – including the head teacher, and of course the respective parents involved.

Together we drew up a plan of action, which effectively will stop mass problems like this from occurring in the future. This plan is a part of our wider scope to make the families independent and self sufficient. The head teacher is key in this and has agreed to implement the measures we have put before him.

There are many families who survived the 1984 November genocide who are living in severe poverty. There are many students in other colonies who’s education stops after the age of 10/11. Almost 600,000 RS is needed to pay the overdue tuition fee’s of 101 students in Tilak Vihar (which is around £74 per student on average).

We plan to release a video highlighting the reality of this situation within the next 7 days.

Please Note: Such a mass scale problem regarding education will not occur in the future due to the preventative measures we have put in place, however in order for the children to continue their education, a payment of almost Rs 600,000 is needed.

Please support Seva84 in raising £7,500 to ensure that the education of 101 Sikh children continues.

Seva84 have agreed to give regular payments directly to the school until the overdue amount is paid, on this basis the 16 students were allowed entry back into the school.

THIS is EXACTLY the root reason for the start of 'Educate Punjab Project' penn ji, please read on

It was the
dream of our elders…

The young generation are the future of a nation and
it was the dream of “Nation Jewel”: Giani Jasbir Singh
Ji (from Khanne) that where students should learn about Sikhi and
involve within the service of their Guru’s house, they should also progress
within an academic career to as high a standard as possible. Where a practising Sikh is sitting in a recognisable position
within the broader society, the Sikh faith will be automatically preached to
the wider population.

Through the blessings of our guru this
mission: ‘Educate
Panjab Project’ has started with the aim of progressing the 1.8% Sikh
minority within the rest of India through a foundation in Sikhi and a backing
of academic excellence. The big problem is the poverty being faced by young Sikhs
within cities and villages across Punjab and the mountain of tuition fees which
is blocking their chances of receiving an adequate education. This is urging
more and more young Sikhs to quit education every year and this can only ruin
our chances of progressing further as a nation. This project has a mind blowing
database of over 90,000 citizens reading Guru Granth Sahib Ji every day and is
now looking to help those thousands of students who are
all achieving over 70% within their examinations whilst daily reading sehaj paat.
However, due to a lack of financial availability, or support from parents,
students can only afford to study up until year 9 at the most.

Through this project, Guru
Nanak Multiversity is offering these intelligent
students that financial support (and career guidance, Gurmat Skills…) through scholarships with the condition of students having to achieve above 70% in
all examinations.
This helps student’s to be able
to stretch their academic careers as far as desired to reach a ‘top job’
position within India. This is where we need your help because this huge task cannot be completed
successfully by one person or group but rather requires the entire Sikh nation
to help their own Punjabi nation: “Sikhs helping Sikhs”. With two hands
joint clasped together, we request you that where we are paying for our
everyday expenses let us try to help these children however possible so that
they can reach the tip of academic excellence and we
can preach our guru’s message of world unity and oneness whilst looking after our own nation. Just a donation
of less than £1.00 everyday, £5-£6 a month or £60-£70 a year can pay for one
student’s yearly fee.
