What has to stop ? The picture you have as a jpeg looks like a rubbish tip. Do you want water to flood this with water as well ? grin.gif such waste land is common in towns and it has nothing to do with the water problem.

60% of Punjabi farmland is not even irrigated by canals. So rather than make such a big hoo haa, build the infrastructure to make better use of river water. There is only so much water you can use for 40% of the land.

How many water

table recharge bore holes have you ever seen in Punjab ? Is it not time you started campaigning for these to be built rather than crying over river water ? Remember 60% of Punjabi farm land is not irrigated by canals so unless the ground water level is recharged then this 60% of land will turn to desert.

Under the Akalis and when Gujral was PM, the bufoons started pumping factory discharges and other toxic waste through a canal in Jullundhar which was previously used to irrigate fields with clean water. Now some farmers use this dirty unhealthy raw waste to irrigate farmland.

Badal and co make a hue and cry about stopping Haryana from having access to so called Punjabi water (the rivers actuallynow originate in Himachal, so Himachel could accuse Punjab of raping it) yet are happy using it on the large farms they own in Haryana and Rajasthan. They should set an example and stop using Punjabi water on such farms.

even the UN has said Panjab will become dessert in 20 years. y simple, India keeps takin water from Panjab, first they split it in to little pieces then keep takin all the water for other parts.

China has seen sand storms this year, this will be panjab in 20 years. dessert will cause mass migration out of panjab and then u will get ur independence in land which is useless.

have u listend to the audio? yeh u prob have,

 )))) ha ha GOI lover. It is you who is the GOI lover. Fact Haryana and Himachal were part of Punjab prior to your Punjabi GOI Akali bumpkins demanding Punjabi Suba so they could get into power. Haryana and Rajasthan have large areas where Sikhs are the major farmers, these areas are irrigated by water from rivers that originate in what is now Himachal. Lets stop water to these areas so our Sikh brothers suffer from drought and die from starvation this will help your GOI brahmin biggots achieving their goal of stifling the Sikhs.

Large tracts of Chinese farmland became desert due to overfarming. Similar thing going to happen in Punjab

. Perhaps people like you want this to happen. Water alone will not save this from happening. When soil is overfarmed it loses the ability to support crops. What will more water do when the soil is useless ?

Akali bumpkins demanding Punjabi Suba so they could get into power.

My gosh it was nehru who promised punjab her autonomy and soverignity before indpenadence otherwise britishers were going to create independent punjab(Sau sakhi by Sardar kapur Singh),and while he was giving language recognizition to all other states so why step motherly treatment withPunjab?

PEPSU under nehru was never allowed to have non congress govt, Surprisingly In the first genereal election Nehru and congress were defeated under the leadership of Sardar Dhyan Singh Dhariwala, but guess what nehru dismissed this Punjab govt in one year. Why?

Sikhs wanted to have sovreignity what a grave sin have they committed?

If you see the real map of punjabi Suba it had lot of HIndu population also , it extened to almost delhi,(but some hindus denied to write punjabi as thier mother tongue and punjabi was left to sikhs)sikhs wouldn't be in majority as they might be today in punjab, carved out by Nehru. Either nehru would have given language recognization and allowed non congress govts to function in punjab,it wouldn'y have had happened. Still, he kept major dams out of punjab.

A lot of people died for the autonomy and sovereignity of punjab , telling those who died and were tortured by police were bumpkins is not only pathetic but also would be considered inhumane by many. You probably look like a young person who hasn't be f

amiliar with the punjabi history viz a viz transfer of chandigarh to haryana. No body is denying water to haryana or rajasthan if punjab had its autonomy of old punjab. Would we have seen this problem created by nehru?

Also it was only in punjab after 1984 that sikhs were not killed otherwise we would have been up rooted there too. Having a place where some can call our home is not a sin.

http://www.onlypunjab.com/latest/fullstory...newsID-567.html

The soil of rajasthan is different from punjab and is not irrigatable, Also Haryana lies in non riparian basin. Playing with mother nature is not a good thing. Over farming occurs under highly mechanized farming where soil is forced to producve more then it could and most of the farming is relied on ground water. Punjab's ground water are depleting as other states are taking the river waters. Right now punjab can't even produce crops becasue it doesn;t even have water.

Punjab requires a minimum of 52.5 maf, but only receives 5 maf from the rivers. (forcibly relying on depleting water table).

SO yes punjab would become a desert if we go by the solution given by you.

Well if nehru would have created the real Punjabi Suba or autonomy of punab, this water problem wouldn't have been here today, and sikhs and hindus of rajasthan and haryana could have enjoyed waters.(provided punjab has water)But No, the gameplan is to label punjab as culprit and anti national taking all the water rights away from people.

But why to blame nehru, blame ourselves, we should have got our punjab back during independance.

Again you are being ignorant about the history of Punjabi suba. For you they were all bumpkins. Sikhs were tortured, it was not only akalis. They were harrased and beaten up. Thousands were jailed it was not only akalis. Commom man also.Punjabi suba extended upto karnal and lot of Punjabi speaking parts. You are also failing to bring in prospect the then promises of govt before independence to Punjab. Tell me how would akalis would have been in power when hindus would have been in majority in Punjab Suba?

I gave you example how Nehru dismissed the govt of Akalis which was voted in majority in the then PEPSU state. Hindus also voted for them, but why govt was dismissed by nehru?

why nehru singled out Punjabi hindus upto karnal? Punjab doesn’t need sovereignty?

You are labeling your own kahlsa panth people as hateful when it was congress who has cut the pie of Punjab.

Leave akalis, why didn’t Nehru include all the Punjabi speaking areas of that time (which now speak hindi and this was the demand of all) including upto karnal?

Once again you are for no reason I don’t know trying to crop up hate between Khalsa Panth. Why would Sikhs hate Sikhs, the question is about depleting waters in Punjab who is just getting 5 maf out of 52 maf since independence, where are Sikhs hating Sikhs here?

This is completely rubbish Give us the proof that Punjab was using rajasthan or harayana’s natural resources without even paying a penny.

Watering Down the Constitution

http://www.sikhnn.com/modules.ppa?op=modlo...article&sid=212

Veera groundwater can’t be relied for irrigation for a lot of time and Punjab not only has river water but also depleting water table. Deserts become where there is overuse of ground water. If according to you 60% of land in Punjab is not canal watered, so why would then rajasthan/harayana want land to be canal watered(even it is in non riparian basin) on the depleting waters of Punjab? Punjab lies in the riparian basin of sutlej and beas,(lawfully it can do what it wants with its waters, build canals, give water to other states or whatever) haryana and rajasthan lie in the non riparian basin why play with mother nature? Now please fpr waheguru's sake don’t try to say Sikhs don’t want to give water to Sikhs, this is rubbish, and right now they don’t even have water for themselves.

And this was the major issue of militancy , are you also going to say all our freedom fighters from Bhindrawale also hated Sikhs.

Moreover why someone wanna give water only to Sikhs, there are also hindus living and this problem needs to be tackled with the unification and autonomy of Punjab as a whole(including the old one, which Nehru not Sikhs kept out)

Haryana is also much prosperous than Punjab with highly industrialized state whereas Punjab was denied all the loans to the industry builders.

You failed to mention the step motherly treatment of Indian govt but mention about SGPC. Well SGPC also step motherly treats own Sikhs from Punjab. It is not any basis of any argument . You should talk at the level of sikh panth not any Punjabi or non Punjabi panth.

Anyway if that doesn’t helps you yes all Sikhs of Punjab are crazy and hateful towards all people living outside, they hate so much that they would give all waters to India after independence for free.

Looks like my id has become corrupt so have to revert back to my original stopsingh id which was also corrupt a few months ago but appears to be working ok now.

Firstly nice to see that freedom to express ones views still prevails and my post to which paaji Harmeet Singh replied has vanished.

No I labeled Punjabi farners as being hateful, they resent the fact that Punjabis in Haryana are economically better off than them. I have seen this on my own travels in Punjab where Punjabis have a stereotyped view that we live in backward jungle areas. Well they can dream on with the grace of Waheguru, Sikh farmers in Haryana are doing very well (most without access to Himachal river waters).

The Anandpur resolution demands back certain areas of Haryana but hey I for one am happy in Haryana. Cross the border into Punjab via Jakhal and you will see how neglected southern areas of Punjab bordering Haryana are. I do not want our areas to become an extension of this neglect.

Yet again you harp on about depleting ground water which just further highlight the need for the possible solutions I have put like extending the canal water to cover the 60% of land without canal water access. You want canal water yet Punjabis themselves and their bumpkin politicans have reduced the areas that can be irrigated by canal water by converting canals into open drains (see the lovely drain (once a clean canal) that passes near Dhana Mandi, Pind Ghakal etc from Jullundhar. dont see anyone complaining about the loss of canal water here.

Also if Punjab does not want to give Haryana river water they should keep their flood waters within Punjab instead of Punjab authorities deliberately makin

g cuts in the Narwana branch of the Bhakra system and the SYL canal in their territory so that the flood waters from that state could be drained out to Haryana. On the one hand they say we will not let any water flow in the SYL yet are happy using it to flood Haryana.

Here is some good news for you, some people share views echoed by me and oters about recharging the groundwater.

Water harvesting systems in new houses planned

Tribune News Service

Gurdaspur, November 20

Water harvesting systems will be made compulsory in new houses being constructed in Punjab. The Department of Soil Conservation has decided to write to PUDA, municipal councils and corporations against approving maps of houses that do not have any provision for rain water harvesting.

Mr Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture and Cooperatives, gave this information while talking to The Tribune here today.

He said the water level in Punjab was going down 30 to 100 cm every year. If the situation continued, there would be a severe shortage of drinking water in the state after 15 to 20 years.

The department had drafted a proposal to make rain water harvesting systems compulsory in each new house built in the state. A Bill in the regard would be presented soon.

Experts are of the opinion that rain water harvesting should be taken to recharge the depleting groundwater in the state.

Mr Randhawa inaugurated a rain water harvesting system in the Dhar bloc of the district.

Responding to a query, he said the department was taking measures to ensure proper DAP fertiliser supply in the state.

    • Definitely the Guru Sahibs would be a heavier Scriptures to handle. Dasam Granth is more towards Bir Rass, Guru Gobind Singh showed his Greatness (of course, they would never say this) by separating his own Baania.  And the BIGGEST test of all?? Do we try and read Dasam Granth, Understand n show respect like we do to SGGS? Or... Do we QUESTION it? Guru Gobind Singh Ji is testing us.
    • My wife will be going for an MRI scan next week but her Kara won’t physically come off.  Is there any way the mri scan can be done with the Kara still on?  The alternative is we will have to try to saw it off before the scan.
    • was researching this and came back to this thread. Also found an older thread:
    • Net pay after taxes. If you don't agree, think about this: If you were a trader and started off in China with silk that cost 100 rupees and came to India, and you had to pay total 800 rupees taxes at every small kingdom along the way, and then sold your goods for 1000 rupees, you'd have 100 rupees left, right? If your daswandh is on the gross, that's 100 rupees, meaning you have nothing left. Obviously, you owe only 10% of 100, not 10% of 1000. No, it's 10% before bills and other expenses. These expenses are not your expenses to earn money. They are consumption. If you are a business owner, you take out all expenses, including rent, shop electricity, cost of goods sold, advertising, and government taxes. Whatever is left is your profit and you owe 10% of that.  If you are an employee, you are also entitled to deduct the cost of earning money. That would be government taxes. Everything else is consumption.
    • No, bro, it's simply not true that no one talks about Simran. Where did you hear that? Swingdon? The entire Sikh world talks about doing Simran, whether it's Maskeen ji, Giani Pinderpal Singh, Giani Kulwant Singh Jawaddi, or Sants. So what are you talking about? Agreed. Agreed. Well, if every bani were exactly the same, then why would Guru ji even write anything after writing Japji Sahib? We should all enjoy all the banis. No, Gurbani tells you to do Simran, but it's not just "the manual". Gurbani itself also has cleansing powers. I'm not saying not to do Simran. Do it. But Gurbani is not merely "the manual". Reading and singing Gurbani is spiritually helpful: ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਭਾਖਿਆ ॥  ਗਾਵਹੁ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਪੜਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੈ ਤੂ ਰਾਖਿਆ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ The Lord's Bani and the words are the best utterances. Ever sing hear and recite them, O brother and the Perfect Guru shall save thee. Pause. p611 Here Guru ji shows the importance of both Bani and Naam: ਆਇਓ ਸੁਨਨ ਪੜਨ ਕਉ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਲਗਹਿ ਅਨ ਲਾਲਚਿ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਰਾਣੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ The mortal has come to hear and utter Bani. Forgetting the Name thou attached thyself to other desires. Vain is thy life, O mortal. Pause. p1219 Are there any house manuals that say to read and sing the house manual?
