Shaheed Bhai Amarjeet Singh Billa (6.11.67 29.6.93)

Bhai Amarjeet Singh was born at Begowal,Kapurthala on November 6,1967. He got involved in the insurgency by first joining the AISSF, he then went on to become a member KLF. He had the chance to escape from India as he had two brothers in USA, his family pressured him to leave India, thus went to Nepal in preparation to leave India. But he couldn’t leave, his heart was really in staying and he returned to Punjab. He had a 5 Lakh reward on his head and on the 29th June 1993 near Sri Hargobindpur he had an encounter with the Police and attained martyrdom. Bhai Amarjeet Singh Billa had the chance to have a settled life but his commitment to the freedoms of Sikhs could not deter him and he knew of the risks of staying and in the end his did not falter in his principles and stayed true to his true love – to fight and die for the upholding righteousness and freedom.
