~*~ Butterfly Wings ~*~ One day a small opening appeared on a cocoon, a man sat and watched for the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through that little hole. Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could and it could go no further. So the man decided to help the butterfly, he took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon. The butterfly then emerged easily. But it had a swollen body and small, shriveled wings. The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected that, at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to be able to support the body, which would…

Question: What happens to old saroops? I have a friend who has many saroops of Sri Guru Granth sahib and one of them I viewed had many scraches on it, he said it was from handling when bringing over from India. The Saroop is Gold and has scarches on it, I advised him to get Gold spray paint, however he said it was too risky because what if it didn't match the right color and the smell of the paint he said would be bad, so my question is what happens to old saroops when they can't be used anymore, and does anyone know places in Toronto, Canada, where they fix up bindings of saroops, can someone please let me know how bindings can be fixed up, or what are the options, to fi…

Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! The Improbability of God by Richard Dawkins -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Much of what people do is done in the name of God. Irishmen blow each other up in his name. Arabs blow themselves up in his name. Imams and ayatollahs oppress women in his name. Celibate popes and priests mess up people's sex lives in his name. Jewish shohets cut live animals' throats in his name. The achievements of religion in past history - bloody crusades, torturing inquisitions, mass-murdering conquistadors, culture-destroying missionaries, legally enforced resistance to each new piece o…

THE ROOM OF LIGHT PART I Each soul, in this vast creation of the Lord Waheguru, comes to this world as a thirsty traveller. The thirst is so intrinsic that it often takes a lifetime to realise it before it can be quenched. No one is free from that thirst, no matter what one's beliefs or personal convictions. Sometime during our life on this earth, the presence of that thirst must be acknowledged. The trees thirst for rain, animals for food and man for Light - the Truth of their existence and of their Maker - that will free them from the bondage of an illusionary, probationary existence on this earth, and unite them once and for all with the Source of their existence. …

Special Analysis: Who Is Iraq's KPS Gill? May 2, 2005 12:59 AM JK: Roublen Vessau is a frequent commenter here at Winds of Change.NET. He sent this to me as a back-channel email. We have a tendency to turn really good emails and comments section entries into Guest Blogs here, so here it is with Roublen's permission. Wanted: A Few Good Arab Iraqi Sunnis. Who is Iraq's KPS Gill? by Roublen Vessau I was reading about the latest car bomb attacks in Iraq, and read with disappointment the spokesman of the Sunni clerics basically shrug his shoulders and say, in essence, "we're not going to lift a finger to try and restrain the insurgency" because "we don't see any hope". W…

Become the Ant ************** My Lord is like sugar scattered in the sand. The elephant cannot pick at it. Says Kabeer, the Guru has given me this understanding: become an ant and you will feed on it. Guru Granth Sahib, 1377.

This is not about sikhism or any -isms for that matter ! But , religion in general seemed to have lost its grip from both its original ideals and its influence on people , ofcourse if we are not talking of that tyrannical middle-east , but living in the west where you have freedom you wouldn't have in say Saudi , and since freedom is good and even tastes good ! then what is the future of religion (which itself has become a list of dos and donts ) ? People are beginning to question the existence of god . I was myself a shraddhalu sikh just a few years back . However , today I have become almost an Atheist . I even find it difficult to lift a pothi now , to be honest ! …
