Dear Sangat Jee Please see below for details of a first by way of events. “PARENTING: THE SIKHI WAY” Sharing Good Practice Saturday 21st May 2011 1.00pm – 6.00pm Venue: West Midlands For most parents life is a daily struggle to balance work and family commitments, whilst at the same time trying to practice and learn more about Sikhi. With the frantic pace of modern life it is becoming increasingly difficult to find the time to juggle everything. Whether amritdhari or not, most of us will have asked ourselves: “are we bringing up our kids the right way?” “what should we be teaching them about Sikhi?” “where can we take them to learn more about Sikhi?” “how…

taken from sikhyouthslough emails: The Economics of Seva! Just reading a Journal for my Economic Theory of Incentives exam tomorrow (well today!). its about how to incentivize workers to put in more effort, the most common technique used by firms is the use of money, as it is a money motivated world, people would and do, anything for this poisonous snake. My habit is, (don’t know if good or bad) is that whatever I read or do, I tend to relate it to Sikhi and current situations, and I apologise if this offends anyone! I thought came to my mind that, all the seva which we do is (or should be at least) “selfless” i.e. there is no return, of monetary value. We do it volun…

Like someone said on another thread, it's only a few weeks to the rememberance freedom rally on the 5th June at Hyde Park London. I have noticed on here that sometimes people complain that we do not do enough as Sikhs. I was wondering, is it worth getting an idea of how many people are attending the justice rally? Why don't we all ask as many people at our local Gurdwara in the UK if they are attending the rally or not. Let's just ask them the question striaght... Are you going to the remember 84 march on 5th June? We could then report back our experiences on here? We could tell people how many said Yes, No, or just looked at us with a blank vacant stare and walked …

This Doctor says we are cannibals (see the 9th Paragraph). He also says we kill loads of little creatures in our own bodies. (para 9 again) He also says Milk is Meat! (see the 8th Paragraph) I think he's missed two really obvious points: Re his Milk being meat claim - you don't have to kill an animal to get milk (big difference in cruelty there!!). Just to give a comparison.. If a mother gave her milk to her own baby, that would be very different to that mothers baby, killing his mother, chopping her up, burning her, and eating her flesh. To me that's the difference between drinking the milk of an animal, or killing and eating that animal. I am not having a go…
