SSA, all I’m looking for the Sikh demographics in Birmingham I made a website that has lists of all organizations that can help such as sikh awareness society ect. That will educate Sikhs about grooming issues. And I wanted to hand leaflets out to Sikhs/Hindus on the issues of how to prevent grooming ect. Its not a leaflet about anyone one community and does not mention Muslims or anything like that. It just has helpful websites to educate issues of bullying/grooming ect. The website just has links and is not extremist site or anything like that. I would like to target areas where there is particular problem of this. I’m presuming that there are particular areas where…

Unique solution to bullying

Sikh boys attending public schools in Western Countries who keep uncut hair covered by a patka are often teased or ridiculed for being different and in severe cases, physically assaulted. I was thinking of the Central Khalsa Orphanage in Amritsar which admits male orphans under the age of ten regardless of religious background, once admitted they are required to grow their hair until it grows long enough tied into a bun covered by a patka; which they can cut their hair again until they leave the orphanage at the age of eighteen. I was thinking, in cases of extreme bullying of Sikh boys in public schools, a Sikh charity should approach the parents of the male bully who is …

I am 14 and i've started tying my parna, but i can't stop my joorah from sticking out. I've tried arranging my hair in different ways but those ways often fall apart or just don't work (like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9R2waCxBZd8) my hair is too short for the final knot, it goes down to my waist and i'm 5'5. This is an update on my post on 19th sept. A lil bit background about us, I’m 21 year old kesadhari sikh male and she’s 20 years old atheist white female, we met through mutual friends. Turns out she didn’t have any objections with me having an unshorn beard. She was very respectful and understanding. that being said, I made a dumb mistake. We’ve been seeing each other everyday now and have come really close and she was inquiring about my religion and stuff, so I told her about our gurus and some stuff briefly like what do we believe in what are our values. She liked what she heard. Anyway we had a long talk and I gave her a spare kara that I had ?♂️ She…

Gurfateh ji Below is an article i read on sikhnet few years back.Hope u find it inspiring! In the mid-eighties, an international seminar was held on the Sikh faith in Detroit, Michigan, USA. The speakers were invited by the president of the gurdwara to address the Sangat briefly on Sunday. After morning kirtan, the author and other speakers gave lectures for seven to ten minutes as planned by the management. The Sangat was emotionally charged when one of the speakers (European-American having adopted the Sikh faith) described his experience of adopting the faith. The key part of his lecture maybe summarized as below: Sikhs receive their turbans as their inheritance an…

Sikhs Need Role Model Leaders

Hello All Sangat Ji, I find lot of discussion on Gurchan Singh defection & Rai’s standing in Southall election. I understood following lessons are learned to me as sikh while living in UK 1> To make sure Sikhs are identified are separate ethnic minority, the voices need to be put in each major party. This can be possible if Sikhs join all parties 2> Sikhs should vote as sikhs and NOT as Asians. Voting for single party may have been for good reasons in old time but no longer now. Support Tories, lib dem or labour based on candidates 3> Standing as independent candidate will only be viable if a constinucy have around 50…
