  1. What makes one a SIKH? i don't know.. even if i do know, i won't go out and tell others that who are sikh or what are the requirement for being a sikh.. Im not perfect in anyway.. first i need to define the correct and real defination of sikhi to my soul then maybe i can explain who are Sikh ! I hate when one person say to other.. "Hey, you are mona, YOU are not sikh" .. WE (YOU & ME) have no right to tell others who are sikhs and who are not.. Don't judge.. Rules (rehit) are set and it's rite in front of everyone, go and read it.. If he choose to disagree, then good luck, but don't go on and say "External" roop is not required etc.. If agree then Welcome to Sikhi ! Either way I will still have the same respect to that person no matter what.. Request to singhs and kaurs.. PLZ stop the judging part.. It's better for our community ! If anyone(Sikh) ask who are sikh, Just give him/her link of Universal rehit meryada and let it be on him/her to decide.. Bhull chaak Kaeyy maaf Karna

  10. General Says He'll Tone Down Rhetoric War on Terror Framed as Religious Battle; 'Enemy Is a Guy Named Satan' By PAULINE JELINEK, AP WASHINGTON (Oct. 17) - A top Pentagon general has said he will tone down his rhetoric after being criticized for casting the war on terror as a religious battle, officials said Friday. But Defense Department lawyers, public affairs officials and others were meeting Friday to try to figure out whether that would be enough to calm the storm of criticism surrounding Army Lt. Gen. William G. Boykin, who has said the counterterror war is a battle with Satan. His comments came in speeches - some made in uniform - at evangelical Christian churches. Critics said the remarks could undermine a more than two-year Bush administration effort to promote good relations with Muslims in America, as well as play into the hands of those who have fanned anti-Americanism abroad by casting the counterterror war as an attack on Islam. Boykin, the new deputy undersecretary for intelligence, has told Pentagon officials that he will curtail his speechmaking, officials said. He was expected to issue a written statement Friday. A decorated veteran of foreign campaigns, the three-star general said of a 1993 battle with a Muslim militia leader in Somalia: "I knew that my God was bigger than his. I knew that my God was a real God, and his was an idol." He did not respond Thursday to a request for comment. Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld said Thursday he had not seen Boykin's comments, but he praised the three-star general as "an officer that has an outstanding record in the United States armed forces." Despite repeated questions at a Pentagon press conference, Rumsfeld declined to condemn Boykin's statements or to say whether he would take any action. Gen. Richard Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said he had spoken in uniform at prayer breakfasts, adding he did not think Boykin broke any military rules by giving talks at churches. "There is a very wide gray area on what the rules permit," Myers said. "At first blush, it doesn't look like any rules were broken." But Sen. Lincoln D. Chafee, R-R.I., said that if media reports accurately quoted Boykin, the general's comments were deplorable. And a Muslim rights group called for Boykin to be reassigned from his job, which includes evaluating and providing resources for the intelligence needs of military commanders. "Putting a man with such extremist views in a critical policy-making position sends entirely the wrong message to a Muslim world that is already skeptical about America's motives and intentions," said Nihad Awad, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations. Awad's statement noted that a verse in the Quran says Muslims believe in the same God as Jews and Christians. Boykin's church speeches, first reported by NBC News and the Los Angeles Times, cast the war on terrorism as a religious battle between Christians and the forces of evil. Appearing in dress uniform before a religious group in Oregon in June, Boykin said Islamic extremists hate the United States "because we're a Christian nation, because our foundation and our roots are Judeo-Christian. ... And the enemy is a guy named Satan." Rumsfeld on Thursday repeated the Bush administration position that the war on terrorism is not a war against Islam but against people "who have tried to hijack a religion." The defense secretary said he could not prevent military offici als from making controversial statements. The Bush administration has gone to some lengths to court Muslim organizations since the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks set off the U.S. war on terror. Muslim leaders have been invited to the White House, and President Bush declared late last year that Islam is a peaceful religion, seeking to distance himself from remarks by conservative Christian leaders Pat Robertson and the Rev. Jerry Falwell.
  11. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today announced that a Muslim public school student in Oklahoma will be allowed to attend classes wearing an Islamic head scarf, or hijab. School officials in Muskogee, Okla., had suspended the sixth-grader twice since the beginning of this month because they claimed her hijab violated their dress code policy prohibiting hats, caps, bandanas or other headwear. A school district legal representative told CAIR the Muslim student will be able to attend classes as early as today pending a review of that policy. A CAIR alert about the girl's suspension drew international media attention and prompted hundreds of concerned Muslims to contact local and state education officials to request religious accommodation. "We are pleased this young girl will now be able to continue her education, while at the same time maintaining the right to practice her faith," said CAIR Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper. "We are also confident that school district administrators will ultimately decide in favor of changing the dress code policy to accommodate all students' religious practices, as mandated by the Constitution and Oklahoma law." Hooper thanked all those who contacted education officials on the girl's behalf. Hooper cited the "free exercise" clause of the First Amendment and the Oklahoma Religious Freedom Act as legal support for religious accommodation. The Oklahoma law states: "No governmental entity shall substantially burden a person's free exercise of religion…unless it demonstrates that application of the burden to the person is: 1. Essential to further a compelling governmental interest; and 2. The least restrictive means of furthering that compelling governmental interest." CAIR, America's largest Islamic civil liberties group, is headquartered in Washington, D.C., and has 16 offices nationwide and in Canada.

  15. ford (Found on Road dead ) Yes its true that ford cars doesn't work good in VERY long run (over 150k).. but mustang is different, it's just different.. a more like a rough car for rough peeps.. gsingh.. did u ever own a stang? i would go for 3.8L rather than 2.0L or 1.4L honda civic.. Japanese cars are best only if u want to keep the car for more than 6 or 7 years and stuff... My mum has highlander and It sucks.. it's just small (bad suv for big pagree guys).. Japanese automakers give tha first priority to their own people.. (ex. small cars, cauz majority of their community are small in size.. height and stuff) If u want big, bad and more important Comfortable .. American made is the only way.. heck with mileage when it comes to cruising
  16. I see no problem of having gurus, sants, famous sikh personalities pictures in the LIBRARY kind of room.. Just like many gurdwara langar hall do have shaheeds pictures.. We don't worsship them.. we respect em.. Picture is like the reminder ! BTW.. using pictures in main hall while having Guru Granth Sahib is there and putting garlands and those Smoke sticks things around pictures is just lil TOO much respect and kinda anti-sikh practice....

  18. I sooo agree with SOGGSJ.. i didn't modify my car in anyway.. like putting the wheels, music system etc.. i think that's waste of money and stuff.. i think buying car above 25 grand is waste lol.. My dad was gonna get me those small peedeyyy honda civic .. but i drag him to Ford dealership and then i showed him the stang hahah.. all he saw was the price tag which was same as of Civic .. but civic comes without AC, carpet, no power window and not even mudgaurds lol... so he did math and finally we went for stang Stang is better for every single singhs :e: affordable, POWEEEEEEEER
