  1. the lion has awakened,....run! As bhai gurdas says ''singh buke, mirgaveli bhinni jae,na dheer dheroaa''. What God wants to create none can stop or destroy ''jaam Guru hoe vaal , lakh bahe kia kije''. What God wants to destroy, none can save . The Indian goverment only helped to scatter the seeds of revolution by spilling and scaterring the 'matyr producing' blood of Sant Jee. God Himself takes revenge on behalf of his pure and holy saints . This is not a matter of if but of when.
  2. who broke your heart, how and wen? we have all been loving to you as far as i can see hahaaaa.awwwww, is someone feeling tender today hahaa . if you was in UK ,i would make sum fresh gulab jamuns and gobi paronthe and bring them around to make u feel very very loved hahaa .
  3. Just look in a mirror after your ishnan ,all your morning nitnem ,waheguru simran ,and you will see in it a saintly looking soldier with a dastar/keshki/dumalla ,flowing beard and a shining radiant face ,penetrating insightful fearless loving eyes and a contented smile of divine joy and you will be reminded of GURU GOBIND SINGH MAHARAJ.
  4. budhha singh veerhee hahaa you said he only 10% more sikh than you haha . sumone has a degree in stats here looks it hahaaa . how u measure 10% hahaa . u mean 10% more simran than you or how means hahaaa . i suppose i am 'meh jeha na heram khor' as bhai gurdassays and 'humre avgun bohoth bohoth ,hau bar bar genth na aveh'' ,and ''hum avgun bhareh,ek gun nahi '' hence , you and he put together must be 99.999999 more sikh than me as im good 4 nuffin useless old 'chimcha'' hahaaa . and to london001 you going accept buddha jee's wisdom or is this another battle royale shaping up hahaaaa . i betta stay out of this else my dharee may get entangled in your quarrel hahaaa . but must say buddhasingh is wise in questioning the logic tying neatness with tying dharee . i just realised your dharee is only 6-7'' long anyway . i was just about to pray it grows a foot long because that will make you look soooooo lion hahaaa .
  5. vah bhi vah ,veerjee didnt kno you run a sikh dating service hahaaaa !!!!!!!now THATS very controversial and there have lots of threads to that effect on this site .
  6. very hard for me to give you any suggestions because dunno what work you do . personally, if you combed and looked after your beautiful dharee flowing loose you would in our eyes look so handsome and saintly and strong from what i can visualise about you,..... and such a delightful sight in the Eyes of Guru Gobind Singh . Your beautiful dharee ,your beautiful dastar ,your love filled eyes ,your radiant cheeks ,your glowing face ,your smily mouth ,your chardikela straight back physical frame----all of this put together makes you appear a SUPER BEING ,from BATTELE STAR GALLACTICA ,hahaaa . dhan Guru, dhan Guru pyareh . why not send an email around your work place amongst your work associates ,and seniors ,see if anyone objects to your flowing beard or considers it untidy . i seriuosly doubt anyone would say that .we live in a multicultural society where there is tolerance and acceptance of each other's looks ,and the focus is more on the brain and intellect of a person and his/her knowledge ,education levels and skills sets ,as well as personality .
  7. well said citizen soulja but at the same time read what i just typed b4 u thoroughly . u need live telecasts for those who cant attend any of what you suggested for any of a million reasons . and as for simran ,you were right too . the more better our sikhi jeevan is the better will we hold together and be better ambassadors for sikhi .
  8. dumalla is a good idea . or some sort of cushioning effect . rubbing some lavender or rose essential oils(neat-not diluted in a base) helps to soothe nerves too. you get them from holland and baratt/boots/GNC or bodyshop(more expensive). usually this is caused by the nerves/nerve endings around the area having become sensitive and agitated/sore/disturbed from constant pulling and tightness of your tight dastar, hence the constant pain. Suggest this to your doctor and he may recommend you a course of 'diclofenac sodium -50 mg strenth capsules' thrice/day for 7 days to settle back those nerves and their endings(u can mention this medicine to him, see if he agrees). he may couple that with paracetamols(500mg) taken 2 every 4 hours for 3-4 days to numb and calm the nerve. he might recommend you co-codamol but its better to avoid those(codeine based and addictive) and just take some paracets at the frequency i mentioned.
  9. ill cut and paste what i kinda replied to this elsewhere if it help,i.e lets step up on parchar . I notice many people on here are younger with various media ,modern technology and computer skills . Use your computer knowledge ,to spread sikhi through facebook, twitter, through blogs and creating podcasts ,live internet radio and internet tv shows . Every youth camp whether in UK/Canada/USA/Malaysia /Singapore /India has to be broadcast live . When i was 20 ,i did what i could with the technology available then . Now this is your turn . Take up this challenge .We need young sikhs doing degrees in sound engineering ,in music technology ,in music production ,in computer technology etc . We cannot keep looking back at memories of a glorious past . We need to create a glorious future . A lot of what we need to do does not require much money but instead requires new skill sets . There have to be very actively run Sikh societies in every university ,school and colege and we have to learn to be all connected ,to be united and to work in harmony . In the main towns such as Southall ,Birmingham we need little stalls in the busy town areas where pamplets on sikhi are handed out especially on saturdays when people are out shopping . We also need amritdharee restaurants ,sikhi libraries ,sikhi bookshops in big towns . We tend to be aggressive towards each other but very pacifist, indifferent and inate when it comes to taking up new parchar. challenges . Why not stand outside near big clubs like Matter or Fabric in london and hand out little pamplets to any one going in who appears to look sikh in colour or appearance .Maybe we need to be learning a few lessons from the 3HO s too instead of shunning them as to howto cross cultural boundaries in promoting Sikhism . What about a sikh style befrienders helpline number to fone when in trouble. Flyering and pampleting are important too . this indeed is the challenge facing young sikhs .
  10. i wish to share the experience of my youngest sister . In a (Sikh) family of 8 children, we had all graduated ,some had got married and all had left home except my youngest sister who was with our parents . My dad was very paranoid that if my sister went to a sikh youth camp, some guy there would fall in love with her or do something 'naughty' with her ,hence he never allowed me to take her to any sikh youth camps as much as i pleaded or tried . He wouldnt even be happy if my tabla veer m8 came to our house for our keertan practise in case something happened between him and my sister. All this over protection made my sister feel lonely being left in the house all by herself with my parents and she felt neglected . Around our house was a muslim grocery shop where my mom sent my sister to buy little shopping essentials . The muslim shop owner slowly by slowly unknown to us befriended my baby sister and took her into his confidence and started seducing her . Then one day , she just dissapeared leaving a note that she has run off with him to be married to him . My mom rang us all up . My elder brothers started a big search for her, and i being much further from home , sat down in a gurudwara ,read continuous BENTI CHAUPAYEE and did ardas with so many tears and loads crying to GURU GOBIND SINGH / GURU GRANTH SAHIB to save our family from this tragedy .Luckily for us Gurujee heard our prayers and my sister was found safe and well and untouched within the nxt 24 hours . My brother slow talked to my sister and brought her back on his motorbike. Then immediately my mom arranged my sister to follow her to a yatra of sikh gurudwaras all over India for about 6 months . By the time my mom brought her back ,my sister had developed very strong feelings for Sikhism and taken Amrit . Now she is married to a Sikh man and is happy with children ,and is a very prayerful woman . I have nothing against Islam but i have tried telling on many posts here as others have too, how wonderfully amazing and awesome Sikhism is, to be given up for anything else. While is it true that many sikhs stray ,dont just write them off . Instead lets step up on parchar . I notice many people on here are younger with various media ,modern technology and computer skills . 11. it appears some are trying to stiffle any constructive debate about this channel ,asking everyone to shut up ,ask no questions ,give no suggestions and just give some cash . that is definately not the way forward . it is grossly wrong to assume that any questions being raised reflect negativity or stinginess or paranoia . instead it shows people are interested ,asking intelligent questions ,want facts , feel concerned and involved ,and want this to be an interactive process involving feedback and constructive criticism.
  12. ''Well, I was in El Sobrante or S.F, ca & then in LosAngeles but now I'm in Texas - Boy, I feel like a priest traveling so much. I'm stuck in Texas right now.'' wow . u visited any gurudwaras in texas yet? met Sikhs there?
  13. my advise is that, in the future, try not to use cracked software as that undermines companies who produce it and need to survive. Its is not ethical as its considered a form of theft . Good musicians with a good reputation always play it safe, think of the long term ,and develop mature music hobbies by saving up and basing their music output i.e production, recording and mastering on purchased software .However if you cannot afford ,then do not resort to cracked but search for 'open source ' software .Fot that go to HITSQUAD, KVR.COM,DONTCRACK.COM. These days mastering is all about compression i.e compressing the dynamics out of things so they seem loud . Its better to either send it off to an internet based mastering company which costs about £30-$40/track ( this also gives you the advantage of fresh ears listening to it and making proper professional adjustments e.g EQing, reverb etc) or EQ it yourself track by track using purchased or free software .A good book on mastering is by Bob Katz 'Mastering Audio'. A well mixed track does not require mastering in my opinion ,as it already sounds good in terms of balance of the various elements and effects, etc . i just heard your 2nd attempt. Its better . Constantly work on your performance ,always moving away from 'flat' to 'dynamic' singing . A little pause after each time you sing waheguru /vahguru helps you to regain breath to make the next time you say waheguru to be more dynamic and louder as well as allows more of your bkground music to be heard . Likewise a tiny pause between vah/wahe and guru, and also as you stretch out vah/wahe dont sing it downwards but upwards ,not compressing your chest ,but raising it as well as opening your mouth wider, blowing out air at the point of ' h' so its haaaaa . Listen to simran clips of Manpreet Singh or Ravinder singh(akj), Snatam Kaur(3HO), Daljit singh(DDT),Bobby singh(Dodra) or Baldev kaur (malaysia) to get an idea . try adding bird sounds from freesounds.org in the background. also listen to how dya singh in australia adds aborigine ''diddre doo'' sounds to his keertan tracks . If you have a harmonium ,always do a lot of homework practising 'aaaaaaaaa' on various ''taans'' exercises for any raag you know. it helps to deepen your voice , creates intricate separate notes between notes instead of appearing monotonous ,flat and unseparated, and improves resonance and voice quality and pitch . if you listen to keertan of dharam singh zakhmi, nihang ex harmandir sahib raagi balbir singh , or gulbagh singh dilbagh singh raagi jethas you will get an idea . i can supply you with tanas if you need . just tell me which raag you want them for . As for 'Akal Purukh Ki Fauj ' , pleae note that this and others who have commented are not being negative but veerjee who started this thread has asked for a feedback for improvement and thats what we are trying to do sincerely ,sacrificing time and effort to listen to his tracks ,and then articulate good suggestions to help our veer better himself in the way we all try to better ourselves through constructive criticism . Anyway you are on the right track and im sure many a dad will love to have such blessed sons like you and your brother. Doing keertan makes you a spiritual king in God's Eyes .
  14. nice work . lovely background sounds . slight problem is how you end vah/wahe b4 u say guru. you need emphasise the 'h' in vah as not vaguru but as vah i.e not flat but an upward sound of va'h' as it means -wow/ so great. again 'guru' has to emphasise the 'r' . vah guru is not supposed to be a 'flat' sounding chant but rather a heart/mind/consciousness/soul bursting out with vah-guruuu /wahe..guroo as you are singing to Guru and saying to Guru -you are GREAT-i.e WAHHHHH . has to spring from ALL of you, not just a word repeated over and over quickly in a flat tone from yur voice box . Imagine you have just seen God and are in a state of bismad/wonderstruck and in total ecstasy . you can get ideas listening to some akj /3ho/dodra etc style of simran try it again . in my life i improve in my kirtan by trying over and over again based on other people's harshest criticisms . am very very proud of you nevertheless for singing waheguru and not somewordly nonsense . also try to add some more background electro sounds if you know about electro music and have access to stuff like samplers, synthesiser, effects units, and software programmes like DAW, PROTOOLS ,ABLETON LIFE, etc. also sounds from freesounds.com,electro-music.com . can give you software programmes for recording if u want .
  15. Why you asking them on SikhSangat? Do you really think the owners of the channel have time to read these ridiculously stupid and long thread?! Go call them, go to their website and find out how to get intouch. SikhSangat is not the Sikh Channel! *Shock* *Horror* (!) But they did have time wen they were launching the channel to come on this site and tell ppl about it! This is an important and one of the main sikh youths website and i think its a responsible thing to be following the ongoing democratic debates about the channel as they are throwing up a lot of ideas for adjustments, reshaping ,future direction ,and how this channel is being perceived. You cannot just ask people to shut up and set up debits . while thats an ongoing process, you need to simultaneously be sensitive to what is being discussed . thats a sign of strength ,not weakness .
  16. awwwww cant any techie guys here sort out live telecast
  17. any possibility of their kirtan being broadcast live on the internet for all of us who live far from woolwich. that would be such a great sewa
  18. such kinda ppl who have an attitude towards you are best ignored and left alone ,and if need be to be told off gently . your focus has always to be your relationship with Gurujee as its His hand of blessing we need to kiss , its God that we must care to look after us and give us gifts and smile at us ,not wordly ppl . As a sikh your hand is always extended out to give ,never to get . Sikhi is based on the concept of naap jaapo(chant God's name), kirt di kemai(earn through your efforts) and vand ke shako( share with others what you have). A sikh is a busy ambassodor of Gurujee always giving ,sharing and caring not worrying what ppl give you or what bad /jeolousy they think of you . As a sikh Gurujee has endowed you with miri(spirituality) and piri(wordly success) so you dont need bother with such kind of people . A sikh's mind is always praying for the good of others ,whether they are good or bad .A Sikh's mind is always in a state of shukrana-thankfulness,praise,and gratitude towards God . A Sikh's mind is always full of humility ,power ,love ,creativeness.dynamism ,passion ,enthusuasm ,joy ,and excitement ,i.e chardikela . So just busy yourself in God's praise ,chant waheguru and read loads gurbani and you will be fine .If these thoughts still bother you go before SHRI GURU GRANTH SAHIB ,bow and do an ardas to Gurujee ,surrender such kind thoughts and people to Him and ask him to bless you with chardikela . Also ,you need to fill your life with lots of company of blessed Sikhs,do lots sewa and satsang ,amritvela simran and you will never feel down.
  19. haha thats called 'timing 'problems. Ideally each lava keertan should complete just as the couple have cpmpleted one round of walking but ask me! hahaaaa its sooooo hard to get the two actions to be in sync . the couple could get soooooo xcited and cant wait to be married so they start walking tooooo fast and the ragi cant keep up!!!! hahaaaa or starts singing at techno speed hahaaaaaa ! . or the couple gets nervous and start to drag their toes -opposite effect!!!! hahaaaa . and wen the couple finish their round too fast then everybody getsconfused as to whether they ought to stand and wait or sit riteaway . omgggg veeekram veer u remind me of weddings and their problems hahaaaaa
  20. my dearest vikramjit singh veerji, what you said of course we all know and agree no doubt of course . however, from naaz's perspective ,veerjee you can see how she feels having gone through darkness and finally to have met a Sikh gyani who has sincerely taken her out of mess and is leading her on to Gurujee. i am sure as she gets more exposed to Sikhi, gurudwaras, jethas and gyanis etc etc ,she will realise for herself Gurujee carves out his blessed Sikhs into people with kingly and saintly qualities and powers and that there are many many such around .The sky of Sikhism is studded with such pearls, diamonds and jewels of the mahan panth of Sikhism. vah bhi vah . Dhan Guru ,Dhan Guru Pyareh!!!!!!!!!
  21. hehe you alredy know the meaning of each line and how the 3 parts of this vaak, flow one to the other ,complimenting and taking the main point,(of the ability of God to be a committed friend ,and the power of God to gatecrush through any problem of those who humbly depend on Him, and of the real hidden strength that a sikh has ) further and further as the vaak unfolds . hence you can weave your own katha . nice exercise for a saturday evening!
  22. Thats what he does to freak you out and think as if he programmed an entire scripture into his brains. hehe Mehtab Singh is right Such kind of preachers are time wasters. The fact remains that Islam is in dire need of change and reinventing itself . read a book called 'legacy of the great four imams' by aftab shahryar on this subject.
  23. hehe im too far away from you. looks like you are in canada or USA but im based in UK,tucked away in coastal southwest corner. where i live has very few gurudwaras so i make frequent trips to spend the day at gurudwaras in london and birmingham on day offs from my business. if you read all my posts on this site, you will get a pretty good picture of me as i love telling stories and anecdotes from my and other people's lifes to inspire. call me humkire singh as i got a story connected to that too hahaaa. and yes through Guru's immense kirpa i been doing kirtan all this while since a kid tho im hopeless at it . i tried posting sum me tracks on here but am not very computer literate so i dunno how to but can send them by email or msn which i can just about handle haha. and yes as a sikh its good to have a personal improvement programme of acquiring skills e.g learning how to play instruments so u can do kirtan, turn your home into a heaven . also to learn gurbani and embark on a mission to go through all of SGGS verse by verse word by word to know meanings, to have your own reference library of books ,cds ,dvds, etc so u can share with others . also to be doing yur prayers(nitnem ,naam jaapna, kirtan, ardas, asa di // ,sukhmani ,etc ) in the middle of the night etc etc . most important is to be humble but a warrior for truth and passionate and loving ,to feel ever fresh ,young and new and totally kicking ,alive ,awake , excited .creative ,joyous ,and in chardi kela . omgggggg u remind mi how gawjus sikhi is . vah vah vah vah vaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah . dhan sikhi, dhan sikhi vaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!!!!!! you look very very chardikela brother. tell me all about you 'naaz'' . now i am the one waiting hahaaaa .
  24. i look at this issue in a very simple way .blame me for being simplistic . here goes .... A gurudwara is the house of Gurujee where Gurujee sits on His couch/throne and receives his Sikhs i.e His children. Even when non -Sikhs visit Gurujee, the automatic thing would be to fall in love with Gurujee and become His Sikh . A child of Gurujee would be longing to marry another child of Gurujee so they both can live a Sikhi based life. This is not being racist etc, its a matter of personal preference to live your life with a person with whom you can awake and jaap naam, do nitnem, go to satsang with, etc. It would be hell on earth if you want to be up chanting waheguru at 2 a.m but your partner wants a night of sex between 2a.m to 6 a.m hahaaaa . If you truly loved Gurujee, and somehow ''fell in love'' with a non sikh, reason tells me, no time would be wasted in that person becoming a sikh as you would be a really powerful force of inspiration for that person. Hence that person would have long become a sikh well b4 you got married. If two people are sikhs just by name or one some 'nominal' sikh by name ,and the other a non sikh, then i do wonder, what you do have to do, with getting married in a sikh gurudwara as you give 2 dime about Gurujee in your day to day life. Why do you want sought the blessings of a Guru you couldnt give a toss about in your personal life and whose teachings you consider outdated and irrelevent and too religous for comfort in your ''modern '' material lifestyle. In that case, why not marry at a registry, or more better at a portuguese villa. We need stop treating Gurudwaras as cultural places for marriages between people fancying something traditional or ethnic, but remember a Gurudwara is the house of God for sober reflection as to the direction, aim ,and focus of your life which has come as a gift from God to love ,surrender and worship Him.
