  1. Just reading up more on Sikhiwiki re. Guru Hargobind's two marriages (Mata Damodri and Mata Nanaki Ji). The article, without reason, suggests that the two marriages are disputed. Does anybody know the reason for this? Also, assuming the family tree is correct, does that mean Guru Har Rai Ji was the nephew of Guru Tegh Bahadur?
  2. Great post, Ghorandhar. Glad I wasn't the only one that experienced the stuff I mentioned I read on a blog last night that the Gurdwara itself isn't run by the SGPC (no solid evidence ofcourse). If true, maybe that's why there is really odd stuff going on there?
  3. '۹βkaur۹β': They are always there wearing orange..how could you miss them Here's a pic: I also saw the Hindu gods/goddesses hung inside. It was just a very weird experience for me. It didn't feel normal. Apart from the hot water, personally, my experience wasn't that good. I didn't do Ishnaan as it smelt of urine in the area, plus the sevadars were very rude. That was just my experience, though.
  4. Just take a water proof jacket and some additional clothing with you to keep you warm, including trainers. I went in late july/early august time in 2003 and it was wet and slippery. The conditions weren't perfect when we were on the final ascent. It was cold, wet, and slippery (did I say that before? ). We took water (though not enough) and glucose with us to keep us going - though that is up to you. Take note that the bottled water gets more expensive the higher you go up My personal experience is in my blog (link below) - going to finish it off in the next few days! I hope you have a great time, it was an amazing experience for me
  5. I went there a few years ago and came across something very weird. In some photos of the Gurdwara there are always two familiar faces, one of a woman, and one of a man (both alive), I think they are distant relatives of people who had something to do with the Gurdwara - Apologies if I'm wrong. Anyway, when I went, alot of sangat were doing mata tekna infront of the woman, like we do mata tekna infront of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. I didn't understand this, and didn't feel comfortable doing it, so when it came to my turn, I faced Guru Nanak Dev Ji's photo and did mata tekna towards that - it was right beside her. What are your opinions on this? Did I do the right thing? (I think I did) Again, apologies if I have caused any offence as I do not know anything about the Gurdwara other than what Guru Nanak Dev Ji did there when he visited the area.
  6. Hi, Always go for large e-tailers such as Amazon. You're best off reading their T&C's before placing an order, though ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/dis...nodeId=15015711 ) What I'd do in your situation is, buy the said frame from a hightstreet shop and check if you like it. Whether you like it or not, return it and look for a cheaper one online
  7. If you watch at his earlier videos, before he became 'Jazzy B', it always looked like he was on 'something' by the look of his eyes. If he's been robbed then it's his fault for flaunt his jewellery (i.e. fist actions for his massive ring) in every video since he has become gangsta - so he thinks
  8. Yeah I watched it. Some of the stuff was quite shocking. For example, when the guy got offered a job in a matter of seconds when entering the area. The guy that was making the false documents was a complete fool for not admitting that he'd been caught red handed on camera. Part 2 is on tonight at the same time.

  10. I came across that video a few weeks ago and was wondering where they're showing the gun. Is it at the Akaal Takht? :gg:
  11. Thanks, Akal_Sehna! Hehe. Of course we'll go there if we can! Very interesting read, thank you
  12. Thanks, Sewa. That'll be a 'maybe' on the list! Anyone?
  13. Thanks Akal_Sehna. Is the Gurdwara called 'Gurudwara Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur (Sikandra)'? It is where Guru Ji offered himself for arrest? http://www.sikhiwiki.org/index.php/Gurudwa...adur_(Sikandra) Gwalior Fort is already on my list as Bandi Chor Sahib
  14. Thank you, I hope you have a great time too Haha, yeah you're right :D . We're hoping to see mainly historic Gurdwara's. Bandichor Sahib is another Gurdwara that I can add to the list! We went to Hemkunt Sahib in a car/4x4 and it was an amazing journey/experience (which I'll cherish forever) even though it took ages to get there. It takes ages whichever form of transport you choose, so it isn't a problem! It'll be worth it anyway :D My mum was telling me that Guru Gobind Singh Ji's horse (well, passed down generations) is kept near Sri Hazur Sahib. Does anybody know the name of where it is kept?
  15. Yeah he did indeed, he went into hiding and did not apologise for it in person, only the organisation. Basically its a twisted 'religious' group that is lead by "Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh". If I'm correct, apparently the philosophy of this organisation apparently teaches Hindu, Islamic, and Sikh beliefs, hence the leaders name. The leader has been accused of rape, murder and other things and nothing as yet has happened to him. This is why the Sikhs are protesting. Something like that
  16. Is it this Gurdwara by any chance? I can't find Nanaksar http://www.imlisahib.com/gurudwara-imli-sahib.html Thanks. I've made a blog especially for this trip and I hope to add quite abit to it - including other Gurdwaras! I know what you mean Usually we do what you have suggested but its always good to know what Gurdwara's you want to see beforehand rather than being disappointed later Good link, thanks!
  17. Thanks, SunSingh. Do you mean a guided tour around the Gurdwara's near Sri Hazoor Sahib? We'll definately be visiting the Gurdwara's near it but was wondering whether there are other Gurdwara's or places of interest that one can visit during the journey (any names? I'll be writing a list). I'll definitely be recording the shastar darshan and taking some pics! How often does the shastar darshan take place? Is there alot of sangat throughout the day? Sorry about the questions. Any more advice/tips etc appreciated
  18. Hi all, I'm visiting Takht Sri Hazoor Sahib next month for the first time (I can't wait!) and I wanted to ask whether there are any other Gurdwara's and other places to see along the way there? We're going to go by van with other members of family and friends. The only place I have on my list at the moment is the Taj Mahal :gg: Any advice/tips etc? :D Thanks! :2singh2:
  19. Once upon a time there was a Singh called Babbar Singh who loved to swim in his bathtub. He also liked to sing along. His voice was not so good and anyone who he perved on got a thappar and a free slap from mummy. When he grew he became big. He loved dhudhu which made him white like makhan. Finally one day he met a likkle dogie who looked like Shah Rukh Khan but much nicer than anyone he'd ever seen before in his life and began to think he could

  22. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/7312919.stm A new article on the bbc website. Says that a hindu woman from bihar is claiming Gurrinder is her son. When asked about the distinct mole on Gurrinder's face: "Shintu did not have a mole but it can come out at anytime naturally or created artificially." The kid looks nothing like 'Shintu' (check link). To me it sounds like the kid has been smuggled into the country to have a 'better life'. I don't understand how the boy has no grasp of english when he has apparently been in the country for 3 years and especially when his 'uncle' is white. If he has just been sitting in doors for 3 years then fair enough, but that is highly unlikely. None of this adds up. I'm probably jumping the boat here but the boy is, dare I say it, hiding the truth. I don't understand how any parent can do this to their child especially when its from the sikh community.
  23. http://www.keertan.gurmatchanan.com/keerta...%20Crazy%21.mp3 Has anyone listened to the above 'simran'?
