  1. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! This is not about narrow mindedness. The issue here is that these University Sikh Societies must play a more responsible role when promoting Sikhi. Maybe the reasons for the seminar are honourable and the society think they are doing a panthic sewa, we don't know. But they must take responsibility and investigate who they are putting forward to talk. Let's face it how did Nidar Singh get his foot in the door, probably like this. We build foundations for people like this by giving them platforms. Whether it's the Uni Sikh Society or Gurdwara Committee, both play a key role in Sikh promotion. It's a confused Sikh world out there and we just further add to the confusion by inviting people like this to talk.
  2. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Can these University Sikh Socieities get their act together!!?? @ @ There's a consistant pattern developing here. Why is it these London Uni Society keep messing up? Who is advising them? If it's not Sanatanic Nangs, it's others. What next Baba Harneck and his dance troop. Sort your elect committees out. Maybe it's time for a clean up.
  3. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Can anyone someone urgently post somre pictures of the acts of beadbi at the Nagar Kirtan. Thanks
  4. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! --Self Edited as advised by the sangat.-- Time for the Guru Granth Khalsa to directly confront this man. I have no faith in the committees of GNP or Singh Sabha actually achieving anything. Even the Nanaksar Jatha cannot do anything about this Baba. So is it not time to act? How long is this Baba in the UK?
  5. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Same situation in my local Gurdwara. There was a Bhog for a family's Akhand Path on Sunday which so conveniently coincided with Lohri. The Granthi mentioned in the Ardaas that the family were asking for Guruji's blessing because it was the newly weds couples first Lohri. So now I am more confused. Not only is Lohri about having boys, but it also appears to be an important landmark part of the year for Punjabi families. Akhand Paths are not booked to celebrate ot her periods in the year. So why Lohri ?
  6. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! I have been informed that Gurpreet Bhatti will be giving an interview tonight on BBC 2 between 7and 8 pm. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.bbc.co.uk/cgi-perl/whatson/prog...0_4224_38101_60 The week's arts and culture stories. Freedom of expression in Britain is discussed in the light of recent protests about the BBC's screening of Jerry Springer - The Opera and the controversial cancellation of the Birmingham Rep's production, Behzti. Plus, the search for Britain's best new museum; a look at the new gallery at Compton Verney; Norman Lebrecht's profile of Sir Simon Rattle - the Brit at the helm of Europe's most prestigious orchestra; and Steve Winwood and Keith Emerson celebrate 70 years of the Hammond Organ. Presented by Andrew Graham Dixon. Subtitles Widescreen Stereo Website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/arts/cultureshow/ Subject: Factual; Arts
  7. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! On the bright side Inderjit Singh came second. Could have been worse! We nearly got a Sikh in. I think next time it will be our turn.
  8. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Try sending a PM to Mkhalsa. He might be able to help or point in the right direction in the US Otherwise all we can suggest is that you get a jatha together and confront the family. You are best getting your point across as a group. Perform an Ardas before you go and appoint 2 or 3 spokes people. Request that you be able to take Guruji's saroop to a Sachkhand at the nearest Gurdwara Sahib. Give no middle ground, you either leave with Guruji's Saroop or you won't go home. Believe me Guruji's Kirpa will be with you and you will succeed. I know of 2 Singhs and 1 Singhnee that came back with Guruji's Saroop when it was being abused in the Hilton Hotel, London recently. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  9. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Once again the UK Sikhs have witnessed Guruji's Kirpa. This kind of protest would not have happended 1 year ago. Things have moved so much in the UK the youth are so much more chardi-kala. As per what the other Singhs are now saying it would not make any sense for anyone to turn up to the Rep tonight. Also we really need to put some good speakers forward with the media. Some bibiji called Harvinder Kaur from Smethick Gurdwara just spoke on BBC. She was awful! They crucified her. It is important that the right speakers come forward now as the media attention is big time on us.
  10. hmmmmm.interesting.... :T: Hope he plays a good character... At least they got a real keshdahri. Let's see what the film's like before we make any conclusions.
  11. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Thanks for the informative posting veerji.
  12. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! The activites of these Gurdwara committees who run these 'modern Gurdwara complexes' are no different to the masands that we have read about in our history. The only difference is that it is 'legalised' because these committee members appear as Sikhs. Sangat find it too confusing to question their activities because these committee members are supposedly' upstanding' members of the local punjabi community. Morever the activities get hidden under the label of Sikhi. Years have gone by and the GuruGhars are still run by manmats. However, it's worse now. Once upon a time in the UK the committee members would not even dare think about brining their manmat into the Gurdwaras, but today it's blatantly happening. Funds were once collected for extentions to the langar hall or diwan sahib, but now funds are collected for building community halls which eventually start serving the mainstream punjabi community which in turn starts serving alcohol and meat. If we just keep our heads down and attend these types of Gurdwaras we are just responsible for promoting the manmat and sacrilage to Sikhi. Realistically, is anyone prepared to stand up to the committee at the samagam? No one will out of fear of stepping on other peoples toes. If this samagam is not AKJ backed then AKJ must issue a statement to give the sangat the confidence so that they can stand up to the committee. Otherwise all this samagam does is add futher confusion for the sangat. As it now stands, to the common man it looks as though AKJ support the committee and therefore support the activitie s of the committee.
  13. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! http://www.mhlw.go.jp/english/topics/qa/al...ergies/al3.html Try the above link. Things which sometimes cause confusion are chocolates and deserts. Egg is an ingredient in most western deserts (some indian caterers have started using egg in preparing Rasmalai). Sponge cakes, pasteries are guaranteed to have eggs in their ingredients. Chocolates with nougout will have eggs, other chocolates with honeycombe will also have eggs in them. Chocoloates with lectin (not Soya lectin) originate fron egg yolk. Basically it's become common in the UK to give out chocolate selections such as Celebrations, Heros, Roses and Quality Streets out in Gurdwaras. If you read the ingredients all the above cholocalte selections blatantly state that they contain eggs. Sangat must really start taking responsibilty of what they give to be distributed in the Gurdwara. Likewise Gurdwara sewadars must take responsibilty of what they give out to the Sangat. Geletaine in all chewy sweets is made from Pig or Cow bones. Sweets like liquoriche, starburst, chewy cola sweets are examples of this. Also Naan bread prepared by many indian caterers (at weddings) may also contain egg as a softner. Our Rehit is of the upmost importance and even if people laugh at you or accuse you of being over reactive always be aware of what you are eating and what you are giving to others to eat.
  14. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! If in doubt ask the Punj Pyaray when you take amrit. My Punj specifically told me that meat and eggs are a kurehit despite the Akal Takht Hukum. Therefore egg yolk or white is against our maryada. (I don't want to start a meat debate, only stating what my Punj told me and what I believe our Maryada to be) Label reading becomes part of your shopping ritual. I can now wiz through the supermarket knowing what is really vegetarian (as per Sikh Maryada) and what is vegetarian as per Goray. From my experience, if you have any doubts about what you are eating, don't eat it. You never really enjoy it once the doubt comes into your mind.
  15. so would u only attend if it was akj smagam? my word people wats up with this, there was nothing in original post saying it was AKJ(UK) or AKJI event all it stated was that there will be akhand keertanees attending, these people i assume are well known with in akj/akji circle and to attract people from all over they are being advertised, we really need to get over the jatha split, just mention something remotely in connection to a jatha and it seems ur askin to get in to an argument. POSTER for event!!!!!!!!!!! Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! It's not about jathas etc. I am not part of the Akhand Kirtan Jatha but have always viewed them as strong panthic figures. It's about the Lemington Committee and Tachbrook Hall. They are holding a samagam in a supposed AKJ style as a PR stunt to look more dharmic. The biggest opposers to the committees anti-Sikh activities have been a group of UK naujawaan. The committee will now justify their activities by holding a samagam every so often which will be attended by large numbers of sangat. No one will ever batter an eye lid at the Gurdwara run hall next door where the wedding receptions taking place. My point is that do we just 'do nothing' and just let the Gurdwara carry on with these activities. The Youth which have stood up against them have received no support from any elders. Now that the samagam will take place the issues will just get buried again and all the manmat activites will carry on. A decision needs to be made by the indvidual and it will depend on how passionate the person is towards the beadbi. Should we boycott these types of committee run Gurdwara complexes or do we just carry on? Let's face it things will not change unless we make a stand. I personally will not attend any programmes run by Lemington Gurdwara Committee until they shut down Tachbrook Hall.
  16. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! If the samagam is not organised by AKJ or AKJI surely the Gurdwara are fradulantly claiming this to be a Akhand Keertan Darbar. The orginal posting by Preet K states that keertan will be performed by Akhand Keertan Jathas. It's easy for the sangat to jump to the conclusion that this is an AKJ samagam I thinks it's out of order for the committee to promote this samagam as if it's an Akhand Kirtan Darbar. They are exploiting the 'persona' that goes with AKJ to look more panthic.
  17. It would be more effective for the Sangat to contact the Kirtanis and discuss with them the issues around Leamington Gurdwara. I would urge Singhs and Singhnees from the Jatha to contact the Kirtanis and Jathedars.
  18. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Maybe the boycotting of the Gurdwara is not the right solution. However, the issues need to be highlighted. My fear is that the committee will always use the AKJ samagam as their contribution to panthic parchar within the region. I strongly belive that Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh would have inspired us the stand against these anti panthic committees. I personally feel that the long term implications are that the committee will claim that they have AKJ support as a samagam was held within their premises. If a Sant dera was to do their parchar/kirtan at Leamington Gurdwara we'd all be at them accusing the Sants of being anti-panthic by supporting the committee. Let's think about this. Would Bhai Sahib have done kirtan in this location? What's the difference between what the masands were doing in Nankana Sahib and what the committee are doing in Leamington? As it stands the committee are still carrying out these manmat acts. After the samagam the committee will still carry on these manmat acts. The Gurdwara building etc is funded by revenues earned from a hall which promotes the consumption of meat and alcohol. And to sit in the sangat of these committee members feels like we are supporting their activies. No matter from what angle I think about this, it feels so wrong.
  19. Waheguroo, The presence of Guruji should be enough to bring one or 2 souls back into Sikhi. Unfortunatly the manmat committee do not see this. I think the samagam is being held so that the committee can earn some 'brownie' points. If they really want to do Sikhi parchar then they should shut the activities in the Tachbrook Hall down. Until then the committee are just entertianers of manmat and hyprocisy. I knew that the AKJ would not willingly be a part of this. I would not expect any panthic jatha to be a part of this. Please can the jathedars of AKJ/AKJI really think about the consequences of supporting this committee. GurFateh!
  20. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! I completely agree. There are dangerous long term implications of Gurdwara complexes like Leamington & Warwick. The Tachbrook Centre/Hall which is run by Leamington Gurdwara next door openly allows anti-dharmic activities ( drinking, partying and meat eating). In my view the Gurdwara is anti panthic as it is allowing the promotion of practices against Sikh maryada. A strong institution like the Akhan Kirtani Jatha, whom we all look up to, should not support the commitee of this Gurdwara in any way. I feel the AKJ should reconsider the Gurdwara Sahib location to somewhere which supports Sikhi Principles. It is time to start boycotting Gurdwara Complexes which promote anti Sikh activites. Bhul Chuk Maaf. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  21. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Sangatji. Does anyone know who 'Sant' Madho Singh is? Supposedly affiliated to Nanaksar. Thanks
  22. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! The continous abuse of Guruji in the UK is a far worse problem than a lot of us first thought it was. Now that we have some sort of communication network in place the information is more public. In a span on 1 month there has been one account of beadbi in Slough (Vikram's Occassions Palace) and one potential account of beadbi (Baylis House). The Slough Gurdwara Sahibs have to get their act together and take a responsible role in Sikh issues within the area. I personally spoke to a Sohan Singh who claimed he was the President of the Ramgarhia Gurdwara committee. He was not interested one bit in making a stand. He said that it's not their problem as GuruJi's saroop is not coming from their Gurdwara. Baylis House is almost next door to this Gurdwara. A Gurdwara Committee are an elected group of Sikhs who are meant to be taking a leading role in promoting Sikh principles. It's part of all Gurdwara Consititutions. Gurdwara Committees of today run Gurdwara's as if they are just Wedding or Programme Booking Offices. As long as the Programmes run smoothly they are not prepared to take any other involvement in Sikh Issues!! The Slough Gurdwaras are active in trying to open a Sikh school but they must also be active in stamping out this abuse of our Guruji. It's hypocritical to teach children to love Guruji when these committees obviously don't!!
  23. Only way to talk sense is to inform the Akal Takht of the dirty activities that have been going on. I agree with Stopsingh. After the 7 day deadline the matter should be sent to the Akal Takht. It appears that Hoonjan is contacting the Punjabi press to write an article to back him up. Will be interesting to read what gets printed...
  24. My first encounter with Sikhi on the internet was through the 3HO websites. I remember how inspiring it was to see white, black and hispanics in Sikhi roop. I enjoyed listening to some of Harbhajan Singhs discourses.
  25. Thankyou for your kind blessings veerji. We are moorakhs and hope Waheguruji blesses us with budhi to carry out the sewa for the well being of our future as Sikhs. Too be honest with you Panthsewak/R Kaur/Hoonjan, the spin was really created by your postings. The Campaign just presented some facts. You guys really added the momentum. Energy is now being wasted on these discussions. I suggest we just wait and leave the rest to Waheguru's Bhana. Whatevers meant to be will be. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
