  1. cali!!! Veerji you're so lucky guy. Wicked weather.. i hate the snow.. your SSA group should have plenty to do in Cali.
  2. This will be a great event. Hopefully other Universities will be able to attend. Can't wait to hit the slopes!
  3. well Earth sustains life and stuff.. i would imagine Sikhi telling us to respect the environment (can someone confirm/refute this).. but remember back then issues such as global warming and pollution did not exist.
  4. YEa, Sikh's are misrepresented in Bollywood. I'm dismayed at the fact that Mandip claims Bollywood teaches us good values when generally Bollywood films fail to portray a positive image of Sikhs. Really, if you support Bollywood, you're essentially supporting an anti-Sikh industry. - Sunny
  5. These so called "lessons" you claim Bollywood films convey will get you no where in life compared to the lessons our Guru's taught us.
  6. I read that too! Daily Hukamnama on Sikhnet.
  7. That's awesome. Good to see Sikh's involved in high levels of the government.
  8. That's nice Mandip. Notice this is a religious forum designed to educate people, not humour us on the lack of originality/crappy acting apparent in Bollywood films. You can support Bollywood any way you want.... but that opinion really has no place here. My anti-Bollywood opinin has no place here either .. so lets drop it and discuss real issues. - Sunny
  9. I must say this thread is quite funny! It's amazing how one comment by Sanjay Tutti has stirred up so much controversy on a Sikhsangat.com forum! I laughed when I read that quote and to an extent I agree with it. Like come on, majority of SIkh's in India are uneducated "Jatts"! Do you honestly think they can play chess? *L* You people are over-reacting. I expected a few posts condemning his comment. A few people here suggested Sanjay Tutti was being racist. Look up the official definition and let me know if it applies here. Mandip is right, we don't know what context he made that statement in, but it's not racism.. THis statement by the guy who started this thread cracked me up the most -> "Just getting the awareness that this has happened. Planning for appropriate steps to take against this are already being considered, with priority to Sikh organizations in India to take action and empower the Sikhs there to do something." This is a SikhSangat forum my fellow Singh's/Kaurs, not a forum where you defend/bash an actor who can't act. LEt's keep Bollywood where it belongs - in the gutter and talk about real issues. He made a comment, so what? He works for Bollywood, don't take it so seriously. My .68 rupees (roughly 2 cents Canadian) - Sunny
  10. I made that comment in a sarcastic way .. I was emphasizing the gurdwara's corrupt politics and hunger for money..
  11. well gurdwara's are rollin in so much dough .. let them use their profits.
  12. Yea, the washrooms are disgusting. The least they could do is keep a bathroom in a holy place CLEAN for HEALTH REASONS.
  13. i was referring to current day warfare and the American Airforce. but Pakistan does have F-16's, less than they had hoped so after sanctions were placed on them.
  14. In this centuary, fighting is done with mind not weapons. then what was used to fight with in the 80's (i agree, the pen comes first, but the sword follows) not the sword, it's usually the F-16's followed by laser guided bombs.
  15. that statement doesn't apply within the context of today's society. Amardeep, well said.
  16. Yes but a child cannot comprehend what injustice and tyranny is. When we try we tell them something along the lines of "We've been oppressed for hundreds of years, we are in a battle to defend our religion" they equate this with picking up a sword in a lifelong battle. That's why we're supposed to nurture every fiber in their being so when they grow up they can understand right from wrong. example: we had a gatka presentation at oiur University a while back and there were a group of young Singhs, probably 5-12 years of age all of whom are trained in the art of Gatka. Let me tell you that they are one of the rudest sons of *itches I've ever met. I know they're children, but what they said is just crazy
  17. okay, I would be more happier seeing these kids perform seva rather than waving their kirpans in the air. Are they trained in the art of Gatka? Probably not, if they were then I'd understand... but waving their kirpans in their like that doesn't neccessarily send a positive image about Sikhi....
  18. "No we're gonna train them to be able to TARGET their enimies and not kill innocent." : How about instilling the fundamental values before going all khalistan zindabad on these kids. Showing signs of excitement and happiness that a young Sikh child is learning how to kill is wrong IMHO. I hate to say this, but shame on the elders. - Sunny
  19. "look at the little Singh on the right in the front...like he is gonna attack someone RIGHT AWAY !!!!! " Wow man, you gonna raise your kid and train him to be a killing machine? These kids need to be nurtured and not dressed in the uniform of the Indian army. (is that an IAM uniform anyways?)
  20. IT will change with our generation. Remember most Punjabi's of our parents generation grew up in the pind and were accustomed to the Punjabi culture without great knowledge of Sikhi. Now we have our generation, educated and with much access to information.
  21. , sorry bhainji my bad... veerji, no need to be sorry here my friend. We all make mistakes . you are forgiven
  22. daas n daas veerji, you are 20 years old and still look at picture books? hai hai..
