  1. At a young age of 14, it should not be hard to loose weight. Although, you should not assume it will be easy either. A few tried and (personally) tested pointers which will prove helpful. First, the magic formula (which as already been mentioned). In order to loose weight, you need to produce a calorie deficit. So, number of calories you eat must be less than the number of calories you use. But wait! the deficit here should not be large or you may actually end up gaining weight! 1. Eat 5 meals per day. Yes, that's 5 meals per day, NOT 3 meals and 2 snacks. This will be bit of a challenge to begin with, so you would want to start by adding 1 additional meal (on a weekly basis) to how many you eat now, until you get to 5 meals/day. Basic idea is to eat just enough that you will be hungry again in about 3 hours. 2. Do resistance training to build muscle. This is by far the best thing you can do to get the weight off and keep it off. The reason is simple, muscle is metabolically active tissue, this means that in order to sustain itself, it uses energy which your body produces by "burning" food. Basically, more muscle = more calories used by the body, even at rest!. Stick to the basic exercises for now, just utilizing body weight. Push ups, pull ups, chin ups, squats, and lunges would suffice to being with. Another option is to play sports which require you to build some strength. 3. As it has been noted earlier, increase intake of vegetables. This is highly recommended as vegetables will contain lots of vitamins and minerals which your body needs. Ideally, you would want to steam the vegetables (sorry no punjabi turkha should be done as it is extremely unhealthy for you). But, if steamed veggies taste too bland for you, you could stir fry them. (again, no turkha!) 3a. Cut on sugary and junk foods. Sugar will ruin your efforts very easily, so stay away from it as much as possible. You only need about 1 table spoon of sugar circulating in your blood, when you eat more (and we all do), your body releases insulin to regulate the amount of sugar in the blood. Basically, this instructs the cells to absorb the sugar (i.e. take it out of the blood stream) and store as fat. Now we certainly don't want to aid the body's efforts to store fat! I mean, it's crazy good at doing that as it is  4. Drink 3-4 liters of water per day. Keeps you hydrated and you will likely loose some water weight the first week. 5. Do not EVER EVER EVER starve yourself!!! Don't ever miss a meal, any meal. This can not be stressed enough. Through millions of years of evolution, our bodies have perfected the art of storing food as fat. At the time food was scarce and this served very good purpose and likely prevented deaths by starvation. So, if you do not get food on time (as per your body clock), your body goes into 'starvation mode'. It starts to panic and begins to store what ever it can as fat, basically preparing for a famine. More importantly, the next time you do eat (after missing a meal), your body will try to store much of that as fat rather than use it to produce energy. All in all, don't EVER EVER EVER miss a meal. 75% of your efforts should be concentrated on the food you eat, and only 25% toward the workout. Most people do the opposite and then they wonder why they can't loose weight  I have even lost weight in the past without doing any exercise whatsoever (not recommended however). Another tidbit; it's a huge myth that you need to do "cardio" to loose weight. I'm a living example of this, I have lost weight twice now without ever doing "cardio". All that's needed is a moderate calorie deficit, which can be achieved by fixing your diet, and exercising. Lastly, pick the exercises which you enjoy. Sports is probably the easiest I suppose for kids, but each person is different. I picked up my first dumb bell at 16 and have not looked back since :L: Find out what you love and stick to that. I could go on for a while, but I think what I have already noted should be sufficient to get you well on your way. Good luck

    Ending My Life.

Let me give you some practical advice, it may sound ridiculous to you, but I think it has a good shot of working. Seems to me that you are in this misery for 2 reasons: - parents expectations of you - your willingness to match their expectations combined with the fact you have been unable to do so So, the plan goes something like this: 1. Rent the bollywood movie called '3 idiots'. I know that bollywood movies have a bad rep, but this is the only bollywood movie I have seen in over 10 years and I must say I LOVED IT! This movie so brilliantly portrays the condition of a large majority of students of Indian origin 2. Watch the movie your self first, you will likely cry. Don't hold back! Let it all out!!! 3. Watch the movie again but this time with your parents, as a family 3. Once the movie finishes, tell your parents in great detail of your own condition that their expectation has put you through. I'm sure once you do this, they will understand. No parent wants their child to suffer, they are pushing you to become a doctor because they think (even though we know it's not true, my parents do this too) that having a good degree will give you respect (and money) and allow you to live in society with your head help up high. Also, it helps their 'societal status', especially when it comes to marriage. I'm not sure about India, but in western countries such as England, US, and Canada, one can easily make a decent living without having a fancy degree. Now, go and implement the plan. I hope to see another update from you in the coming days to see how it went

    Problems

Do what Sri Guru Nanak Sahib Jee did when a king had prostitutes dance in front of him. Guru Sahib called them their daughters You can simply address them as sisters, and if that does not stop their evil behaviour then I must say that you should simply stay away from them. The reason I say to stay away then is because if calling them sisters does not have any effect then clearly their morals are very low. It's best to stay away from people like these. Another approach could be to simply be very direct and perhaps a bit forceful (not physically) in letting them know that you do no appreciate the unwanted advances. This will only work if they have at least some morals and values. A third approach could be to insult them inside out (I wouldn't do this, but I do know a a few guys who will) to the extent that they are scared to come talk to you. This should be your last approach (if at all). As always, do ardaas for strength as well so that these girls may not sway you from Sikhi.
  5. Do jaap of 'sri harKrishan dheaeeai jis didhey sabh dukh jaai' in his hospital room as much as possible. Guru Sahib will do kirpa
  6. They say dukh and sukh are two sides of the same coin. Meaning, you can not have life without both. Sometimes dukh will be heavy and sometimes sukh will be. But when you think about it, what is dukh? It is only the absence of sukh! Just like darkness is nothing, it is mere absence of light. In the same way, dukh is nothing, it is simply absence of sukh. Just as a single ray of light dispels darkness for many miles; one single positive vibe can overcome a large number of negative thoughts. As Alan Watts once said (I'm paraphrasing here), "...the problem is, we notice the wave of life when it is either at it's peak or crest". From a strictly gurbani perspective: suKu nwhI ry hir Bgiq ibnw ] http://sikhitothemax...sp?ShabadID=659
  7. Crying is not a bad thing, it's just way of expressing our emotions. Everyone does it in their own way, some cry, some yell, some paint, some write, some lift weights....etc. If crying is your way of letting go of your emotions, then there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. I would say do it more often! Nature has given us all the tools we need to deal with anything and everything it throws at us. It's a matter of recognizing the problem, searching for the solution and implementing it. Sadly though, most of us stop after recognizing the problem only...which leads to more misery.
  8. Why look at only the negative aspects? A positive spin on few of the points 1) Wealth can purchase a 'bed' but not 'sleep'. - sleeping without a bed can be tough for many 2) Wealth can purchase 'books' but not 'knowledge'. - It's hard to get knowledge without books 3) Wealth can purchase 'foodstuffs' but not the power of 'digestion'. - What will you digest if there is no food to eat in the first place? 4) Wealth can purchase 'medicines' but not 'health'. - When you do sick (and you will) medicine can assist in restoring your health As with anything in life, it all comes down to how one uses the resources they have.
  9. A few things that can help with improving one's communication skills: 1. Never lie about anything; always be honest and direct in your speech. However sometimes you need to carefully choose the words you speak so as not to hurt the other person. For example, rather than saying "You are really bad at this" you can say, "that was good but I think if you could improve this by doing so and so". Or it would be even better to get the other person's view on how they did and then try to work with them to come up with ideas on how to improve in the future. Basically, you don't want to come off the one who is lecturing them on something, rather that you want to work with them by understanding them. Just doing that totally changes the emotional aspect...instead of coming at a problem from a negative view, you take a positive view and encourage the person to do more. 2. Think before you speak, doing this for a mere 2 seconds will have a noticeable impact as you can choose better words. As a general rule, pick words which are positive and paint them ever so slightly with a negative tone. In essence, "negative" should be said as "not positive". 3. Always be humble, any time you talk in ego, you will hurt someone. 4. Most importantly, try to grow out of this thinking that you have to 'convince another person' of something. It does not work, especially when it comes to relationships. 5. If all else fails and you are unable to find constructive words in a situation, just say 'I don't have any value able input at this time, give me some time to think about it and I will get back to you as soon as I can' I hope that helps, there is lots more but going by your description, this is what came to my mind.

Yes, it can be possible if you the ip address of the machine in question. A simple 'ping' command can be used for this purpose. For example, >ping 12.345.67.7890 will send a request to the machine with that IP, and wait for a response. If response comes back, it means machine is online. This is a overly simplistic view of things however. Having firewalls and other security software on the target machine may impact the results. Note that ping is a DOS command I will test this myself shortly and provide an update

    Love Marriage

In order to understand the concept of "Love marriage", one must define Love first. "What is love? It is madness, where you loose consciousness, the greatest drug even that exists on Earth. The only difference is it's an inner chemistry. Love is crucifixion. Only love is the light in which life becomes known, what we call resurrection. Only in love are you truly transformed. In reality you will only feel life when you are in love. Love opens windows towards the beyond. The love people talk about is the phenomenon of the mind. The love of the mind is like a dream because it is from the mind and only the mind can dream and the dream can't be reality. This love cannot be eternal. So what is eternal love? When love comes out of mediation, it's qualities are different from the ones of the mind. The love of the mind – thee essence of it is foolishness. You fall in love, the love of meditation, thee essence is wisdom, you rise in love...When you are in love, it is illogical. There is no logic, no reason. It's irrational, that is why liking has nothing to do with loving, Liking has logic, there are many reasons as to why you like a person. Generations and generations have misunderstood the word love. Automatically they start thinking about sex, without them even realizing that sex has nothing to do with love...love is like a spring breeze. It comes and when it comes it brings a tremendous fragrance, the Odor of Sanctify. It gives you the feeling that it will remain forever. The feeling is so strong that you cannot doubt it. This love is divine. Love has always been God expressing himself. Love is the alchemy, where there is love, ego doesn't exist. That's what I always said, love is spiritual and only love can change lives. Only in love is there reconciliation and a great transformation." - Sant Mani Singh Jee
  17. I would advise against "kiyoou" (ghee); way too high in saturated fat! If you are going to eat it, at least make sure you do very intense exercise on a regular basis so that the fat doesn't build up in your arteries and clog them, leading to a heart attack in a few years. Gheo was okay in old times as our forefathers did a lot of HARD labour all day thus anything they ate was easily digested by the body. Living in Western world, we need to be more careful as even the atmosphere is different than in India.

  19. Is there a reason you only want 'foods'? Lentils (daal) and Pulses (beans, rajmah etc) are generally quite high in protein. I assume you are weight training at high intensity levels; if not, then chances are you do not need additional protein as long daal is a regular part of your diet. If you are a serious lifter then it is recommended that a vegetarian person supplement protein in their diet. Whey based isolate protein would be the ideal choice here. You can have it mixed with milk or juice or even water. However, I must caution you that for some people mixing it with milk can result is some pretty foul flatulence. Be very aware of that. Another point to note is that the classic "eat 1g of protein per pound of body weight" rule does not appear to be backed up by any research (at least I haven't found any research supporting this yet). Even Olympic level athletes (not body builders, they are not athletes) consume around 0.75-0.85g of protein per pound of body weight. It need not be said, they are some of the strongest and fittest people on the planet!

    Big Problem!

Dear GuesSingh, please try this yoga exercise, it will help re-channel all that sexual energy into something productive Try it for at least 1 month, everyday and I'm sure you will see a big difference. http://www.mrsikhnet...-sexual-energy/ Of course staying away from things that entice you is of the utmost importance, that will help the most.
  23. Bhaji, a diploma limits your options quite a bit. I have a degree in Computer Science from an accredited University, even then I had a really tough time finding a job. It seems like you are into computer hardware, in which case you could look into enhancing your skill set. If you do not wish you do a degree, certifications will definitely help you out. Look into various hardware certs, like A+, Cisco etc http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/le3/learning_career_certifications_and_learning_paths_home.html I agree with dalsingh01 that there isn't much scope for pure hardware people anymore. Look into getting trained on business side of things as well, any technical training coupled with business and/or management puts you in a better spot than majority of other job seekers out there. I don't know where you live, but if there are any job placement agencies around, please make an appointment with them and discuss your career options. People working in these agencies can tell you quite a bit about the market place which can prove to be very helpful. Good luck.
  24. WHAT! :o I have read a lot of absurd posts on this forum over the years, but this ranks right up there at the top. After saying that, your second sentence becomes a moot point anyway. There is a reason Dhan Guru Nanak Sahib Jee said 'so kyo manda akhiae, jit jamai rajaan' (why call women bad/sinful when kings, both spiritual and worldly, are born from them)...Who ever told you that clearly is not aware of philosophy of Guru Nanak Sahib Jee.
