  2. ummm.. Guru Gobind Singh Ji also said the first rehat is to take Amrit, and that without kes and shasters you shouldn't even dream of meeting him... Jab Lag Khalsa Rahe Niara Tab Lag Tej Dio Mai Sara but when we start falling under Brahmanism (ie. cutting hair, following rituals, not following Sikhi), Guru Jee will not not not help us out. It is ESSENTIAL to become Sikhs FIRST, and THEN, when we have the HAK or RIGHT to make Panthic goals, we can try to gather with the Sangat and make realistic goals that we'll actually follow through with.. Just a thought
  3. I haven't heard of "satwant kaur" - but ive read sundri.. Any other books?
  4. I say you take food from home (make lunch yourself) and you can make whatever you want... Just get a bag and take food with you from home. It's probably cheaper that way too..
  5. wow he's beautiful! Flowing dhara's are awesome, but even my Panj (who were really strict, hardcore, amazing, love-filled Gurmukhs) when I took Amrit told all the Singhs that they are allowed to tie their beard during work, for safety reasons or whatever. The bottom line is, he keeps his hair, he's a Singh, he seems chardee kala, and he's a police officer! Awesome B)
  6. also try contacting the sikh coalition or whatever..Like Hardayal Singh in New Jersey or Mejinderpal Kaur
  7. There are currently two programs, one is on wednesday, one is on friday. The Friday one is the one posted above
  8. but i'm wondering like, could it be true? WHO would've killed all those people? Who are these "terrorists" ? Cause real singhs wouldnt do that
  9. Perhaps one reason why not many Bibis post on this forum is because all the real die-hard Sikhi loving Singhnees are out doing bhagti and don't have time for forums  :e: I definitely DO agree that these days, many of our sisters are forgetting about how our Puratan Singhnees went through so much. BUT, it's not easy to look at from a Singh's perspective. You lot may not understand how it feels to be a Sikh girl in today's society. Your culture/the media/society tells you to remove and cut your hair... Your religion / gurdwaras / camps / sangat all tell you 'don't even dream of removing your hair' and to wear a kesk i or keep your head covered at all times.. Your parents tell you to be obedient and submissive, learning how to sew and cook and clean and you should still look attractive and graceful so someone will marry you one day. I've talked to lots of girls and they get really confused between what path to choose. It's not easy for them these days. PLUS, lots of girls base their self-confidence and happiness on the opinions of GUYS/boys/men (sadly) .. It's probably really disheartening and discouraging when you have a lot of hair on your face as a female and all the boys around you think you're not attractive and thus treat you like c rap. Lots of Singhs are more affectionate to moneh girls, and they're not as nice to the Singhnees that actually have the guts to keep their hair and follow Sikhi. :T: Interesting, eh? :yehyehyeh: I know personally from other situations, lots of girls that started keeping their hair got no support from anyone. Even some of the Singhs they used to talk to weren't as nice anymore. It's like, where are you supposed to get support, if even your own brothers don't like the way you look? Hair is a natural gift from God - men and women both have it all over their bodies. It's this white culture/society/media that makes women feel like they're not supposed to have hair. :T: I think Singhs should support their sisters more and encourage them. Singhnees today need to be told that they ARE beautiful with each and every hair on their face/body. They need to be told that Guru Jee loves them and that real beauty is reflected on a person's face when their inside is pure. This is why many bibis are weak today - they have lots of expectations and it's so easy to give in to society, especially when no one respects you if you keep kes.. Only Guru Jee. And thank God for Him P.S. Please don't fall under the assumption that ALL bibis today are weak. I've seen soooo many amazing Singhnees these days that are practically MADE of sarbloh, they're so pure and strong. Lots of Singhnees are getting stronger, whereas lots are getting weaker. Just don't forget about all those bibis that even today, in the midst of kaljug, are proudly displaying their Kes and Kakaars and doing parnaam to the mahaan shaheeds of the Panth everyday - just by walking around and REPRESENTING sikhi...
  10. I was very touched by when you put the Rena Kaur simran on. At first it made me feel really sad, then it made me feel really happy. Waheguru! The slide show was cool though as I said above. I wish someone taught me how to do stuff like that! Only thing again is I believe her name is spelt "Rena" not "Reena" and the thing with the definition of Kaur. Otherwise its gr88
  11. When I first came across this website and saw the front page, I thought that it was a pro-Sikhi website, talking about how many innocent Sikhs were killed at the hands of the Indian government. A few of the pictures looked familiar - I had seen them on other websites. But I realized that on this website, they're talking about "sikh terrorist" attacks, and they've shown all these pictures. I wonder if it's true or if a lot of these innocent killings were staged by the govt' or something? http://www.punjabtrauma.org/ is the site It talks about how families were killed, children were killed, men/ladies everyone, and shows some pretty disturbing pictures. I don't think Singhs could've killed innocent people. :| <_< I highly doubt all the stuff written above. I don't think that many people could've been killed, if so, the police and government would've made a HUGE deal about it and would've put it all over the media, making Sikhs look bad... I don't know. It's weird though, because I've never heard of this stuff before... Once again, real Singhs whether they're kharkoos or not, wouldn't k ill innocent people..
  12. I love it. The only thing is that in the start you say Kaur means lioness, and in the end you say Kaur means prince. I've heard the real meaning of Kaur is lieutenant. B) You should use that jio.!!! Otherwise it's great. My favorite part is at the end, when the Singhnee is looking up & there's light shining on her face. If you want to do a "global" thing, please take out the pic of the bibi with big hoops (looks odd) and get some pictures of non-punjabi Singhnees. There are loads of caucasian Sikhs.
  13. hunji khalistani veerji, you are correct. i guess i had left the nanak out of that line. (nanak) brahm giani aap parmeswar
  14. exactly, khalistani. Guru Gobind Singh Jee said: "Khalsa Mero Satgur Poora" And Bani says: "Brahm Giani Aap Parmeswar" -sa(n)th gobi(n)dh kai eaekai kaam ||1|| rehaao || The Saints, and God, have only one job to do. ||1||Pause|| - jug jug sa(n)th bhalae prabh thaerae || Throughout the ages, Your Saints are holy and sublime, O God. - sa(n)th sabhaa jeh baisehi prabh paasae || Where the Saints gather together and sit, God dwells close at hand. there's much more where that came from.
  15. "Chamak of Hope" ji ifffff and only IF Sant Jarnail Singh Jee is a shaheed and abides in Sach Khand, why WOULDN'T any sane person want to get shaheedi the way he did? The death of a shaheed is the most mahaan way to die. Kara/<banned word filter activated> Inside, Sants/Brahm Gianis like Sant Jarnail Singh Jee are elevated in Guru's Bani, and we should praise them and give them the credit they deserve. Sants are not mere humans - they are extremely elevated in Gurbani. You could both be senseless low-lives for all we know. Rare sants, like Sant Jarnail Singh Jee Khalsa, on the other hand, are extremely divine and distinguished. --------------------------- sorat(h) mehalaa 5 || Sorat'h, Fifth Mehl: ham sa(n)than kee raen piaarae ham sa(n)than kee saranaa || I am the dust of the feet of the Beloved Saints; I seek the Protection of their Sanctuary. sa(n)th hamaaree outt sathaanee sa(n)th hamaaraa gehanaa ||1|| The Saints are my all-powerful Support; the Saints are my ornament and decoration. ||1|| ham sa(n)than sio ban aaee || I am hand and glove with the Saints. poorab likhiaa paaee || I have realized my pre-ordained destiny. eihu man thaeraa bhaaee || rehaao || This mind is yours, O Siblings of Destiny. ||Pause|| sa(n)than sio maeree laevaa dhaevee sa(n)than sio biouhaaraa || My dealings are with the Saints, and my business is with the Saints. sa(n)than sio ham laahaa khaattiaa har bhagath bharae bha(n)ddaaraa | ;|2|| I have earned the profit with the Saints, and the treasure filled to over-flowing with devotion to the Lord. ||2|| sa(n)than mo ko poo(n)jee soupee tho outhariaa man kaa dhhokhaa || The Saints entrusted to me the capital, and my mind's delusion was dispelled. dhharam raae ab kehaa karaigo jo faattiou sagalo laekhaa ||3|| What can the Righteous Judge of Dharma do now?
