  1. Waheguru Jee ka Khalsa, Waheguru Jee Kee Fateh Congrats for Bibi Mehar Kaur Jee. Wish her a real gurusikh jeevan ahead in the life. There is no place of caste system in Sikhism so I would urge upon all the sangat to join hands to remove this practice of using caste (sir name) with Kaur or Singh. bhul chuk maaf Bhupender singh
  2. Waheguru Jee ka khalsa, Waheguru Jee Kee Fateh I think that as nobody got right to even remove or add even single comman in gurubani similarly no body got rite to change established symbols of sikhism like Khanda, Nishan Sahib etc. bhul chuk maaf Bhupender singh
  3. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Guru Pyari Sadh Sangat Jee, 1. We are critisizing gyanis and raggis performing akhand paats on money basis but as we know supply depends on demand so first it is our fault that today our families can not do akhand paat themselves and we are depending on some professional paathis to perform it . 2. Keeping akhand path in house on marriage & other occassions is becoming a ritual only, the real love & respect is lost somewhere. bhul chuk maaf waheguru jee ka khalsa, waheguru jee kee fateh
  4. Waheguru jee ka khalsa, Waheguru jee kee fateh I do agree with vicky singh veer abt the metha tekna issue. But if somebody on the one hand doing peri pehna to elders and on the other way not respecting them that way peri pehna is only formality and hypocracy. Wud request sikh for life veerjee to think lil. bit more over cleaning shoes in jorha ghar. I know in Gurud. Bangla Sahib and others in Delhi where sangat do polishing, cleaning of shoes and even they kept most of the shoemaker stuff to repair the torn shoes, replace lasses etc. Sangat contribute and purchase some spare shoes n sleepers for the sangat who either lost their shoes by keeping it outside or to replace those with poor ppl shoes who can not buy new one. For a sikh seva means learning humbleness not only in the gurudwara sahib or with fellow sikh but with every body and everywhere in the life e.g. if somebody happily serving or cleaning utensils but in the house not even taking one single plate or helping mother or wife as per the need/ requirment saying eh sada kaam nahi is actually hypocracy. bhul chuk maaf Bhupender Singh
  5. Waheguru Jee Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Jee kee Fateh It is really very serious issue but its the forum is now off. Waheguru jee ka khalsa, waheguru jee kee fateh
  6. Waheguru Jee Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Jee kee Fateh Attacks on Sikhs in USA especially are increasing since the incident of September 11 . Every time various Sikh organisations take up this issue with local Govt. authorities, and imphasis on doing more PR work wrt informing & educating local people about Sikhism. Unfortunately there is no big success in this matter has been observed. Everybody in this World is having right for self defense. Our GURU Sahib Jee bless every Sikh a Kirpan for self defense and to protect innocenet and needy. As far as I know, there is no Amritdhari Sikh among those who have been unfourtnatley attacked in USA and other countries. Sadh Sangat Jee, Why not Sikh Organizations think on following points apart from taking up issues with local authorities and PR work to fight out this problem:- 1. Promoting and inspiring Sikh people (men and women) to connect themselves with GURUJEE by taking amrit and always keeping kirpan as their dress code, teach them gataka to use the kirpan and some fighting techniques like Judo or martial arts in case of emergency for self defense. Regular camps should be organized for this purpose. 2. Taking approval from local authorities for keeping stuff like revolver for self defense by the Sikh people especially in the areas which are more affected with these kinds of incidents. bhul chuk maaf Waheguru Jee Ka Khalsa Waheguru Jee kee fateh
  7. Guru Pyari Sadh Sangat Jee, Waheguru Jee Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Jee Kee Fateh There is nothing great in giving official status to Punjabi and Urdu in Delhi. In most of the Delhi's Public and Private Schools are not having Punjabi lanaguage faculty as a result children of Sikh & Punjabi community has to take sanskrit as additional language. Although now some of the Government Departments has to reply in Punjabi or Urdu to a Punjabi or Urdu correspondence and may be in some departments the form for various activities may also be available in Punjabi and Urdu. bhul chuk maaf Waheguru jee ka khalsa, Waheguru Jee kee Fateh
  8. Waheguru jee ka khalsa, Waheguru jee kee fateh Giving Punjabi and Urdu, status of second official language in Delhi is only Election Stunt which are due coming November. Punjabi is becoming a lanugage of old people (either sikh or punjabi) day by day in Delhi n other parts of India. Now they even speak hindi with youth and kids in the house. In my view, the main culprit for this problem are those Parents who are not providing Punjabi speaking homely environment to the kids. As we know the first teacher of a kids is his or her mother and father. bhul chuk maaf Waheguru jee ka khalsa, Waheguru Jee kee Fateh Bhupender Singh
  9. Waheguru jee ka khalsa, Waheguru jee kee fateh I do agree with above posts that even for a Sehajdhari Sikh, unshorn Kesh is necessity. I think we can call a sikh, a sehajdhari sikh during the time period when he or she is transforming himself / herself as Sikh by birth towards an Amritdhari Sikh. Bhul chuk maaf Dass Bhupender Singh Waheguru jee ka khalsa, Waheguru jee kee fateh
  10. Sadh Sangat Jee Waheguru jee ka khalsa, Waheguru jee kee fateh __________________________________________________ MIRACLE DURING WORLD WAR II Bhai Ranjit Singh Kaki Pind, Jalandhar In 1964, when some of the holy weapons of Guru Gobind Singh were brought back from England, an Englishman, in complete Sikh form accompanied the weapons. The Englishman was asked by someone the reason for his adopting the Sikh form. Was it due to respect for the weapons or was there any other reason? The explanation given by him at Gurudwara Bangla Sahib is being reproduced for the benefit of the readers. " My name was A. David. I happened to be commanding a Sikh Regiment during World War II. My Regiment suffered very heavy losses fighting the Germans. Most of the jawans" (soldiers) of my Battalion were killed. Only a few survived and we were all surrounded by the Germans. As there were very remote chances of our survival, I called the Subedar major of the Battalion and informed him about our recarious situation. Death was facing us and there was no chance of our survival. I suggested to him that the jawans should individually attempt to escape from the enemy encirclement and save their lives. "The Subedar Major replied, 'We cannot bring ignominy to the Sikh Regiment by running away from the battlefield.'However, he had a suggestion that they should perform "Akhand-Path" ceremony and take action as per the Divine Hukam (Holy Command). Accordingly, necessary security arrangements were made and the Akhand-Path ceremony was completed without interruption. After the supplicatory prayer ("Ardas"), the Divine Hukam from the Holy Book was explained to me by Subedar Major and the religious teacher ("granthi"). As per the Divine Hukam, we should not abandon the battlefield; victory will be ours. "Then I conveyed to them the miracle that I had witnessed during the supplicatory prayer. While standing with my eyes closed during the Ardas, a fully armed Sikh on horseback with a unique grandeur appeared in front of me and ordered 'Follow me.' I pointed out the direction in which the fully armed Sikh went after giving the order and asked them about the identity of the warrior. The Subedar Major said that as per my description,he was none other than Guru Gobind Singh. "So, we got ready and launched an attack in the direction pointed out by the Guru. After a short while, we were able to break through the German encirclement and save ourselves. We then got in touch with the Brigade Cammander on wireless and requested for additional help. " After the war, I reflected upon the incident and the divine personality who had saved my and my men's lives from an impregnable enemy encirclement in a desperate situation by ordering me to follow him. I made up my mind to follow him for the rest of my life. I resigned from the Army and along with my daughter, embraced Sikhism with the initiation ceremony of the Khalsa. Now my name is Devinder Singh and my daughter's name is Surjit Kaur.....This is due to the blessings of Guru Gobind Singh that he took pity on us and made us his disciples." This incident was narrated to me by my younger brother Sardar Raghbir Singh (Retired Subedar), who happened to be present at Gurudwara Bangla Sahib on the day the Englishman (Devinder Singh) narrated his above mentioned personal experience. 11. Waheguru jee ka khalsa, waheguru jee kee fateh Taking amrit is begnining of journey towards ultimate goal under the guidance n shleter of GURU sahib jee. Sadh Sangat Jee Panj Pyare are considered as roop of guru sahiban, I feel when someone decides to take amrit, he or she is connecting himself or herself to GURU JEE not to any individual. I fully agree that a person who has committed one of 4 sins (kuriyat) must come up for punishment, but if he or she does not do that he/she will liable and accountable for this to GURU SAHIB JEE. And if by any chance, same person is part of Panj Pyarey, Sadh Sangat Jee I think we should take that fellow only as Panj Pyare at that point of time and we should not bring any wrong feeling. Everybody in the Worldis liable for his or her deeds towards ALMIGHTY. bhul chuk maaf Waheguru Jee ka khalsa, Waheguru jee kee fateh Bhupender Singh

  13. Waheguru Jee Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Jee Kee Fateh Guru Pyari Sadh Sangat jee, In India, there is a gurdwara Sahib "Aanghetta Sahib" (not historical) in Dehradun where the old guru granth sahib jee, gutakas, loose papers, gurbani quotes on wedding card & other stuff, calandars etc. collected from all over the india are being stroed in a neat and clean place with max. sharda. I think twice or thrice in a year they do the Sanskar (burning) Seva of all that stuff, it is being done by Panj Pyare only and rest of sangat is reciting gurubani during the whole seva . I wish whosoever in our sangat visiting India should visit this place too. bhul chuk maaf Waheguru Jee Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Jee kee Fateh Dass Bhupender Singh

  16. Waheguru Jee Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Jee kee Fateh I fully endore the view point of my veer Sikhforlife. There is no branding in amrit jee, it was one, it is one and it will be only one. Taking amrit is taking admission in sikhi school. Apart from following the basic discipline (rehit : four kurahts, nitname, sangat etc.) a student (sikh) learn the things gradually. So Veerjee to learn & be educated (becoming chardee kalaa Sikh), the first thing we have to do is taking admission into the school i.e. taking amrit jee. You should not wait for taking amrit jee and take it as early as possible. About rehit, Veerjee the standard of Class I student and Class 10th student can never be same jee, a class 10th Student has to pass 1st -9th classes for reaching Class 10th level, similarly u need to take admission into the school (taking amrit), following school basic discipline (basic rehat), learning, working hard, doing home work (understand techings of SGGS Jee, adopting into the life etc.). As a result one will achieve the Certificate (mokash -aavan jaan toh mukat and encash the gobind milan kee eh teri bariya). Sadh Sangat jee I am mega moorakh so please bear my totti-footi english and thanks to waheguru jee and all of you for reading and accepting me in your sangat jee. 17. Waheguru Jee Ka Khalsa Waheguru Jee Kee Fateh I here fully agree with Guest and MKhalsa Jee. Sadh Sangat how can we forgot that Sikhism is not abt quantity its abt quality only. Remember those Pahari Raja (Kings) who were ready to take amrit but not with the poor people and requested Guru Sahib to give them amrit seperately. Guru Gobind Singh Maharaj did not accept this and utlimately these Pahari Rajas became enemy of Guru Gobind Singh Jee. Waheguru jee ka khalsa, Waheguru Jee kee fateh Dass Bhupender Singh
  18. Waheguru Jee Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Jee Kee Fateh Veerjee, I got a friend (amritdhari) who did marriage with a modern beautiful Sikh (by birth) gurl who refused to take amrit but under his own parents pressue & his own thought that he will convince her for amrit after marriage by his love, affection and care But bcoz of having diferent bases in life, problems begins with the day 1 they got engaged. Whenever my friend see his fiancee acts like cutting her hairs (eye brows), speaking hindi, wearing modern dresses, he feel bad. Problems get multiple after marriage . My friend wants to go to sangat his wife wants to go for movie (lol) and other similar stuff. The gurl still cutting her hairs, speaks mostly hindi and these are becoming reasons for ususal fights between them. And the wrost thing happens with their childern mental development. They will be in diliema to judge n adopt their own path in life, to judge who is right or wrong in his/her parents. Sadh Sangat Jee, let us do ardass in guru jee charan for all boys or gurls who are facing the similar situation in life. bhul chuk maaf Bhupender Singh Waheguru Jee ka Khalsa ,Waheguru jee kee fateh

  21. Vaheguru Jee Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Jee Kee Fateh this was an e-mail i got from one of my friends, she read a joke someone posted about Sikhs and her reply is listed below... It's just something you should read. I think we're all a little fed up with the jokes against Sikhs. ------------------------------------------------------------ Subject SIKH JOKE AND MY RESPONSE Please look below for my response to this joke Gurbachan Singh is appearing for his University final examination which consists of Y/N type questions. He takes his seat in the examination hall, stares at the question paper for five minutes, and then in a fit of inspiration takes his wallet out, removes a coin and starts tossing the coin and marking the answer sheet - Y for Heads and N for Tails. Within half an hour he is all done whereas the rest of the class is sweating it out. During the last few minutes, he is seen desperately throwing the coin, sweating and sweating. The invigilator, alarmed, approaches him and asks what is going on. "Oh, I finished the exam in half and hour". "But ...", he says, "I am rechecking my answers and am not able to tally them with what I wrote." Content Publishers : Gaurav Kumar Verma, G.K.Verma@eSqueeky.com Kiran Pandey, Kiran.Pandey@eSqueeky.com To everyone that had a part in sending/creating the joke with the Sikh man as the main character: First of all I am 22 year old female attending UC Berkeley in California, U.S. I am in my third year and planning to attend law school. My parents are Sikh, and are well educated from the US and Punjab. The reason I give the above information about myself is bec ause I want to, hopefully, provide an image that is contrary to the one provided in the joke about the Sikh man. However I do understand these are "just jokes" but I feel, as many of my American and Sikh friend feel, there is more to these jokes than just a mere laugh. I am completely offended by anyone using the name Gurbachan SINGH, in order to create and provide a laugh, especially when it is non-Sikhs who are and providing these jokes. My religion, my Sikh parents, family and friends have given me enough knowledge and dignity to NEVER use someone's ethnicity, religion, caste, creed, and anything else that makes an individual who and what they as a avenue to offend them, or bring a negative image upon that person and what he or she stands for. I can suppose that the people who created or forwarded this joke to me have not received the same upbringing as myself, for that I have pity. Sikh history shows the bravery and intelligence of the Sikhs, and world history has accepted Sikhs as a community which stands for Humanity, and freedom of all, and that has been proven many times as 65,000 Hindu women were saved by Sikhs during the Muslim rule in India. Sikhs were the majority that fought for India's Independence and still up to this day are ready to fight for the freedom of all people. Sikh history is so dense that it would be impossible for me to remind you all of it in this email. Sikh Americans have excelled in every field, from fiber optics to politics, they have touched and added to all fields of life. The first Asian American to sit in the American Congress was a Sikh, one of the first people to get a phd in fiber optics was a Sikh. But much of these accomplishments are never recognized as accomplishments of Sikhs but instead of Indians. And as far as the kindness of Sikhs, the latest generosity of the Sikhs that comes to mind is the during the aftermath of the Gujarat earthquake, in which the Sikhs were the largest non-Gujarati community to provide financial aid for victims. However, I do know, that certain individuals, ignorant individuals, who have are not well read, will create whatever image of something they have no understanding of as it best fits them. You make fun of what you fear; I have yet to see one individual, weather Hindu or Muslim, come up to any Sikh and make a Sardar joke, or any other, in his face, and the late Rajneesh Proves my point. He says, that "Hindus think you are so funny by making fun of Sardar, but when you see one you piss in your pants and cant even look him in the eye" (or something like that). All Muslims in India were weak Hindus that converted to Islam, and all Hindus in India exist today because of the bravery of the Sikhs and if it was not for the bravery of the Sikh all Hindus too would be circumcised and reading from the Quran and eating cows every night. This is what some people think about the Hindus. However, Sikhs have never spoken these words. We are taught to see all humanity as one. No Sikh, that I know of, has ever made fun of any Muslim or Hindu, and will never, the Sikh religion teaches us better than that. Intelligence is not proven through efforts to degrade another human being and the community to which he or she belongs, but is proven through the willingness to learn and understand his or her ideologies. I hope that day does not come when Sikhs make fun of Hindus praying to ShivLing..for all those that don't know... Shivling= Shiva's <admin-profanity filter activated> (its that round rock thing with the lines going across it horizontally and usually some is pouring milk over it). I hope that does not come when Sikhs make fun of the cowardly history of the Hindus and Muslims of India. I hope that day does not come when Sikhs say "how weak is that Hindu, he couldn't even save his wife from being raped by the Muslim, instead he joined him." I have heard people make fun of Hindus, the hindu religion and refer to the Hindus as as "HBO" which is also a major cable channel, but for for a mere laugh it is understood as "HINDU BODY ODOR." YES THESE ARE ALL STUPID, AND THERE ARE MANY MORE, BUT THEY ARE FUNNY TO SOME AND TO OTHERS OFFENSIVE. THAT IS WHY, AS A SIKH, I AM TAUGHT TO NEVER BE PART OF ANYTHING THAT MAY BRING OFFENSE TO ANOTHER HUMAN BEING. I HOPE THAT IT IS JUST NOT THE SIKH RELIGION THAT IS ABLE TO ENGRAVE SUCH DIGNITY AND RESPECT IN A HUMANS LIFE, BUT HINDUISM AND ISLAM AS WELL. I WROTE THIS EMAIL PASSIONATELY IN RESPONSE TO A FORWARDED MAIL THAT OFFENDED ME DEEPLY. I APOLOGIZE FOR ALL THE GRAMMAR ERRORS. peace ------------------------------------------------------------ vaheguru jee ka khalsa vaheguru jee kee fateh
