  1. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Singh Jee, I don't think we should speculate on her personal life. We have no need to. Just concentrate on what she says in public and her play. Bhul Chuk Maaf Waheguru
  2. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! In earlier posts, I was promoting that respect should be given to Mr Mandla, and to give him a chance in this matter. Now I must say that my view has completely changed. I think it is despicable that he should go in the National Press to advance himself at the expense of other Sikh Organisations such as Sikh Federation. All groups are Panthic and do as much seva as possible in their respective fields. But to accuse the Sikh Federation of being hot-heads, trying to steal the limelight and being violent extremists is frankly not acceptable. If he had problems with the violent few, he did not have to mention any specific group, rather the violence could have been condemned generally. This is exactly what was NOT needed; Sikhs need to show unity across the board, not division. Bhuk Chuk Maaf Waheguru
  3. ChardiKala Reho Singho Sikhs have come through much greater tragedies than this. This is nothing. We'll get over this. We lost the PR war on Saturday night/Sunday morning. I think the problems have arisen becos the scuffles that took place on Saturday night were not expected to make Headline News on Sunday morning. Therefore we were unable to give a proper response, whereas the The Theatre had a very well oiled PR machine ready and in place. Like I said on another post, u don't realise how powerful the media can be when they turn against you. We just gotta be better prepared next time round. This is only one small battle in the bigger Khalsa war that Guru Jee expects us to be fighting constantly, both internally with our Mind, and externally with the rest of the world. BOLE SO NIHAL!!! SAT SRI AKAL!!!
  4. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Singho Jeeo and Bhaen Jeea I always say this, but I'll say it again . Sikh sangato, there's much much more that unites us than divides us. We're the children of Guru Nanak Dev Jee. #1 Please don't be disheartened by any issue and let's all stay Chardikala. Don't get peeved off. These (relatively) minor disagreements happen in life. The important this is that we continue on this forum to inspire each other and learn from each other about our pyare Guru Jee. I don't in anyway hope to sound Hunkaari, but just sharing Daas' experiences. At Amritvela this morning, this pangtee from a shabad kept automatically coming into my mind. If we ALL apply this in our lives, it will assist in making our Janam Safalla: The point is, each and everyone of us is filled with Augun, or bad sins/deeds, let us look at ourselves first before condemning others. On the other hand, each and everyone also has some Guns or positive things about us. If we take the positive from each other, and drop behind the negative, we can all learn off each other and be Happy Bunnies. That is what we should be doing on this forum. Let's not get down and let's all stay part of this Cyber-Sangat. If we go looking for them, there are gems that can be unearthed on this forum. We just gotta look for them. Let's do Ardas that we all sucessfully can go across this ocean with Guru's Kirpa. Bhul Chul Maaf Waheguru Waheguru Waheguru
  5. Could somebody please explain what the Five Companions are. Thanks Waheguru
  6. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Just did a search - I think www.sikh-heroes.com is by Harjit Singh, but it is not entirely clear. However the Warrior Princess book on the website is definitely by him. Fateh
  7. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! I agree completely with sikhlionz previous post. We are often very quick to criticise our elders, but when it is time to take responsibility, the youth often shy away. This is not only in relation to this specific issue, as I am not aware 100% of the internal mechanisms and interactions between the elders and the youth in this case. Therefore please don't take any offence by my comments. But generally, I see it in Gurdware across the country (including and in particular my local), the youth have a view point which they express (even vehemently when they have to), but this is always in the background. When the elders tell them to come into the Gurudwara committee and influence decision making etc., they always run away, for two reasons it seems. Firstly, they don't want to get involved in the deep-rooted politics which is unfortunately prevalent in many Gurdware, and secondly, they'd rather criticise others from the outside and suggest goals but no solutions. Also, they do not want to take any responsibility in the time-consuming day-to-day seva which running Gurudwares requires. Generally speaking, our elders may not be perfect, but they have much dedication and pyaar to do seva, and we should not forget this. Rather, we should work constructively with them to strengthen this further. Therefore, more youth representation is required in Gurdware, since Gurdware are the main platforms from which Sikhi parchaar can be done, and from which resources for parchaar can be attained. Even if the youth are not necessarily Pardhaan (President) or Stage Sakattar (Secretary), one way forward could be to have youth Sabhas in each town, which can put forward a united voice on behalf of the youth as to what is required. This would also put pressure on the elders to listen to the youth voice. I think Young Sikhs Leicester is a good example of this, provided that it operates inclusively for all the youth and attempts to be as broad-based as possible. Finally, for the future, pls all youth, let's not make the same mistakes as elders, and form Dhare or parties amongst us. I know it might seem surprising, especially for us "educated" British Sikhs. However, this does seem to be happening in some circumstances. Please lets all us Sikhs stay united and Chardikala. Bhul Chuk Maaf Fateh

  9. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Great post Khalistani!!! Hit the nail on the head. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  10. Thanks Harjit Singh Lakhan Is u a member of this forum? U always do amazingly inspirational posts. Thanks a lot Jee. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  11. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Thanks veer jee for the response. They know what my religious beliefs are and they respect them. I think the issue is to do more with me, and how I feel guilty that I am going in an environment where there is alcohol and cigarettes. I heard in a Katha by Giani Thakur Singh from Damdami Taksal (not the Acting Jathedar, but a kathavaachak I think) that Gursikhs should not go even in a place where there is environment of smoke. If they do, then they should extra Japji Sahib da Paath, or some other extra Paath. If this is the case, this brings us into the wider issue of Singhs going in to environments such as pubs, or even Punjabi weddings. Should Singhs/Kaurs go into such arenas? Bhul Chuk Maaf vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!!
  12. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! This topic made 1st headline news on BBC News 24, and 1st news with Breakfast with Frost - major international programs in the UK. MASSIVE COVERAGE ON THE ISSUE. They reported that whilst the demonstration was peaceful, with several hundred protestors, the issue turned ugly when some youths tried to storm the play to stop it going ahead. 5 policemen were injured and there was criminal damage. 2 youths were arrested. The show got cancelled on Saturday, but is going ahead again on Monday. In my humble opinion, whilst it is good that the event got major coverage and publicity within the UK, it is of utmost that the protests going ahead must remain peaceful, if us Sikhs are to maintain the moral high ground. Benti to Admin, can u amalgamate all threads on this issue into one; its beginning to get annoying now  . Sikh Sangato, can we also pls make sure that we concentrate on the topic of the play, rather than looking at our elder leaders. It is of utmost importance the play issue is resolved first, and then perhaps afterwards we can reflect on how the Sikh community in the UK can take a united stand on issues such as this in the future. Bhul Chuk Maaf Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  13. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Daas also has these problems that makes me unsure what to do. When we have work functions, they always have drinks. And the vast majority of ppl always go out to get drunk. I really hate going, becos u know what's gonna happen, and I always feel well uncomfortable in the alcohol and smoke surroundings. The vast majority of times I make excuses/blag my way out of going. But then sometimes, I feel I just have to go, just because I don't wanna feel like an outcast from my whole team. And u also feel you lose out on networking opportunities (which is pretty important for the type of work I do). So occasionally I just end up going, ordering the Orange Juices to the Max!!! I take 2 views on this ... sometimes I feel that I don't need to go, Guru will do his Kirpaa, and I don't need to worry about the networking-nutwurking, since Guru is Rakhwala - I shouldn't get involved with the bad Sangat. But other times I feel I have to be pragmatic, and if I set a good example on how to behave, and act like a ChardiKala Singh of the Dasmesh Pita, then it will rub off or at least provide to something to think about to the others. Also, when I do occassionally go, it makes feel really Chardikala and realise how amazing our Sikhi is, and inspires me even more. Conundrums, conundrums ... What are the Sangat's views? Please contribute on what should be done in these situations ... I'm sure there are many professional Singh/Singhneea that have the same type of dilemma. Bhul Chuk Maaf Gurfateh
  14. May Guru Jee bless us all with Khande Batey Da Amrit (including me!!!)
  15. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! Thanks to the sevaadaars for showing it online. I really enjoyed it. It was F - A - N - T - A - S - T - I - C. It is really professionally organised, excellent commentary and videography. Made me really want to learn Shastar Vidya and to uphold the great warrior traditions of the Khalsa Panth. This is very important, but something that most Gurudwares ignore (esp in UK). Can't wait for Day 2. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
  16. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! This is a question that has also be troubling me, specifically with regard to Naamdhari Singhs. This is especially in the context that they have very good Raag/Saaj training, and in terms of doing traditional keertan with instruments in Raag and Taal, there are very very few keertaniyas in the Sikh Panth "Mainstream" that have as much knowledge as the Naamdharis. However, I heard sometime ago that Akal Takhat issued a Hukum that Naamdharis should not be allowed on Gurudwara stages because of their belief in a living Guru, rather than Dhan Dhan Siri Guru Granth Sahib Jee Maharaj. However, I have never seen any evidence of this Hukum, so I'm not sure whether it was actually issued or not. Even if this Hukum was "Jaari", ie in application, is it still OK to learn kirtan from Naamdharis? Bhul Chuk Maaf Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

  19. vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! This shabad just relaxed me earlier on today, when I was feeling a little stressed from exam revision  @ @ . I'd urge you all to download and listen to the shabad with the STTM translation below, and imagine being in the sangat whilst this shabad was being sung live http://www.bhainiranjansingh.com/BNS13AUO.MP3 Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! 20. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Of course, the individual's own jeevan and avastha/pyaar towards the Guru is an important factor, it is perhaps THE most important factor in how an individual should be judged in terms of them providing an example of how to lead a Gursikh lifestyle. This is, as mentioned above, demonstrated by how the Guru's treated their own family/offspring: the Gurgaddi passed to Guru Angad Dev Jee, because He followed the Guru's Hukam more than Guru Nanak Dev Jee's own son. Also, Baba Ram Rai was banished by Guru Har Rai Jee for misrepresenting Gurbani in the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb's court. However, I think family lineage does make the person worthy of some respect. There is a Saakhi of when Baba Sri Chand (Guru Nanak's eldest son) came to see Guru Ram Das Jee, and he asked Guru Jee why they had such a long beard. Guru Ram Das Jee replied that I have a long beard so that I can clean the feet of Holy Saints such as yourselves. Baba Sri Chand understood at this point, and remarked, that the reason why the Gurgaddi passed outside the family clan of Guru Nanak was because the other Sikhs had greater Nimartaa (Humbleness) than he did. The point is that even though Guru Ram Das Jee was Guru, they still had great respect for Guru Nanak Dev Jee's blood family. There are also references in Gurbani (sorry I haven't got them at hand) and in Sikh history that the Jeevans of great Sikhs are enough to liberate entire generations of their family. Who can be a greater Gursikh than Guru Nanak Dev Jee? Therefore, although family lineage does entitle the individual to respect, as Baba Sarbjot Singh Jee Bedi is, it is of course the individual's duty (as in the case of Baba Ram Rai and Dhirmala) not to abuse that position. Just the thoughts of a moorakh Bhul Chuk Maaf
  21. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! I wasnt present to hear Baba Jee's comments, but if we extrapolate and look at the context in which Baba Nihal Singh Jee would have made those comments, it can be interpreted in this manner: since nearly all Nihang Singhs of the time would have worn the Aad Chand Khanda on their dastaars, they would have been batch produced as quickly as they possibly could - thus, taking the shortcut in the Aad Chand form. However, I'm sure there must be manufactured Khandas from the period which are in the full form, with both the Miri-Piri Kirpaans. This easily reconciles the great craftsmanship of the Singhs at the time in producing wonderfully ornate weapons, whilst sometimes producing the Aad Chand on a batch production basis. 24. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! I write this post with a very heavy heart - I realise that we are giving these persons publicity when they do not merit it, BUT I think it is time that the greater Sikh Panth took action against them - but what that action is, I do not know!!??!!?? :T: :T: These guys are subverting impressionable young sikhs, that have just taken or are preparing to take Amrit, and putting these people on Manmatt paths. I agree that I am no-one to judge people's levels of spirituality or Buddhi - but what upsets me is that these youth are taking actions which are clearly against the Guru's Rehit. I know personally of 3 Singhs who have just taken Amrit within the last 2 years, but due to the Sangat of the Nangs in the subsequent 2 years, have completely changed their perspective on Sikhi. These youths treat the word of Nang Niddar as gospel, and are not prepared to listen to anybody else within mainstream Sikhi. I don't blame these guys personally, because they are fully taken in by it, and it is the only path of Sikhi they know - they usually have not done any Khoj of Guru Granth Sahib Jee as they have only started on this path. Under the influence of Nang Niddar, they only hear selective quotes from Guru Maharaaj and esp. from Dasam Granth, which have been spun extensively to create manipu lation to fit his ideas. As you can tell, I am well p*ssed off about this, but how should we tackle this? The usual answer is to make yourselves stronger and become the shining light so that ppl follow your example. I understand that - but these youths influenced by Nangs have only just come into Sikhi - it's a very difficult path - but when the Youth see the Nangs, they get taken in by it, and forget the long arduous path that REAL GURMAT requires. It's fantastic to see BOSS doing stronger seva and taking a more coordinated approach within the last year. No offence to them, but they had quietened within the last 4 years - giving the Nangs an opening. This obviously is having some success - the Nangs are reverting to doing false Nindiya of the BOSS sevadaars - this is quite telling!!! But I feel it is beyond the remit of BOSS alone - they cannot bring back the youth that have already been corrupted. Extra effort is required on a Panthic level - perhaps a resolution, if not by the Akal Takhat, then at least all other Jathebandis within the UK condemning the Nangs, i.e., AKJ UK, UK based Sant/Mahapurshs, National Council of Gurudwaras, all the Singh Sabhas, Nishkam Sevak Jatha, Nanaksar, Damdami Taksal, real Nihang Singh Jathas, like Baba Nihal Singh, Baba Wazir Singh (on Sukh Sagar Radio), etc. Once there is this concerted action on a Panthic level, then perhaps the Youth might raise their eyebrows towards the Nangs. :| However, this is only an idea and requires great coordination between Singhs within the UK - but generally, I'm quite p*ssed off - these 3 Singhs have been taken the wrong way. @ @ SS Jhamka Jee - I cannot wait soon enough for your real evidence on how wrong and fake Nang Niddar is - the sooner the better, just for the sake of all youth out there. May Guru Jee Baksh us with Summat. Please do forgive any Bhull Chuk Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! PS I'm not a Wahhabi or Taliban fanatic - I generally am very tolerant - I go to all Jathebandis to learn about Sikhi - but there has to be limits on tolerance, when ppl deliberately set out to subvert and lead astray the Youth.
