Avtar95 i think you misunderstand what i meant. a battle (this particular episode) is a small part of a larger war (freedom). badal by using the media and his political nous and the jathedars (including sant samaj and dhadrianwale) has poured cold water on the hot flames yes some youth will stop taking drugs and become singhs but we must accept this will be a small amount there is no organised centralised protest movement and so everything wil die down if dhadrianwale was not in badals pocket, he would lead the protests - if he did thousands would follow but he does not want to even if you argue that sant samaj and dhadrianwale are trying to influence the akali dal from within they have clearly failed. badal has just used them to silence the crowds and calm everything down. they dont realise that badal is too clever for them and has dealt with much more clever religious leaders than them get rid of badal and his son and things will open up and provide a platform for political freedom

Badal has already won this battle: 1. by going for a stay for rajoana's execution, he will let him rot in jail for another few years (at least if not more) as they wont release him or make him shaheed (which is the only two options open to the singhs) 2. they will never make rajoana jathedar of akal takht or any other takhts as they know this could tip things over the edge. 3. the takht jathedars are in Badals pocket as are Sant Samaj and Dhadrianwale 4. by arresting bittu daduwal etc there is no one to co-ordinate the early stages of this movement 5. Badal has total media control in Punjab and no one else outside Punjab in India really cares or knows 6. the actual protests in Punjab are actually quite small in number but much better than they have been for years 7. by shooting dead Jaspal Singh, they hope to scare (and have probably succeeded) mothers from sending their sons to protests or becoming militant in views and actions 8. nothing will happen to the suspended DC and SSP 9. in 2 months everything will be back to normal

ekosikh first bullet point is 100% accurate. what we need is to sponsor young children in punjab in villages and cities from all backgrounds. this is a long term war. we will not win with just guns. the majority population at the moment does not want khalistan. we must accept this reality. we have to change thoughts in not just sikhs but the others. this will take at least two more generations. we need to create a mentality similar to the jews where they save their greatest hatred for jews who are not zionists (ie not pro state of israel) - this took several generations to create. this is the start of a revolution albeit a very minor start. and nothing more than that. we need to sponsor the children of so called lower castes

Panjwar’s brother picked up by police Tribune News Service Jhabal (Tarn Taran), January 9 The Jhabal police today picked up Mr Sarbjit Singh, elder brother of Parmjit Singh Panjwar, who figures among the 20 most wanted Indians and self-styled chief of the Khalistan Commando Force and has taken refuge in Pakistan. He was picked up from Panjwar village near here today. Senior police officers of the Tarn Taran district police, on condition of anonymity, revealed that Panjwar’s brother was picked up from his village on suspicion of possessing ‘fake Indian currency’. Ms Parmjit Kaur Khalra and Mr Balwinder Singh Jhabal, both general secretary of the Khalra Mission Committee (KMC) alleged that Sarbjit Singh was picked up on the pretext of taking him to the police station in connection with a passport inquiry. However, when he did not return till the evening, the family members got suspicious and tried to contact him on his mobile phone which was switched off. Family members and the KMC feared Sarbjit Singh might be implicated in a false case.

i beg to differ. we do need political parties simply because sant ji is not coming back and how many years can you wait for another soul such as his? delay has caused the movement too much damage people get tired in a long struggle if the taksal had accepted sant ji's death then a new clear leader could come to the forefront but this never happened

forgive me if i sound disrespectful. i dont intend to be baba thakur singh ji was a great gursikh no doubt. but what he said and subquently the amount of people who relied on what he said, he let them down i feel and in reality lost the taksal alot of respect in the end

though it saddens me to say but the taksal is now discredited after baba thakur singh saying sant ji will come back before he dies etc by saying that and probably knowing deep down he was wrong and not admitting he was wrong, baba ji lost all trust and from that stemmed succession problems and the further split in the taksal as of today so whatever the taksal says now has little or no authority which is a far cry from the days of sant ji
