  1. let's each try to invite minimum 10 people to every diwan who normally dont attend GuruGhar & be helpful in this way. spread the word !!
  2. Ouch !! hope u get well soon bruv !! p.s. cricket's not meant to be a bloodsport
  3. does being "doctor"/"professor" of chemistry or flanna themkra subject give you Giaan of Dasam Bani? next to our Guru in sadhsangat nobody is "professor". if a person refuses to accept Dasam Bani how is that person "Singh"? lastly which Guru set up singhsabhacanada? why waste time debating with a eunuch? let these impotent people hide away & do nindiyaa of Bani from websites, CDs, books, etc. for in the end it will not change who and what they are - we all have to face Mahakaal one day.
  4. force? lol Guru Gobind Singh Ji wanted sikhs to stand out in sava lakh, these days i wouldnt be able to pick a sikh out of a crowd let alone a "half-caste" sikh. i wouldnt be so "rude" as to approach someone myself, daas was approached on a number of occasions, i remember once in particular a lad who was about to do GCSE exams & approached me later that day saying one of his parents was a Sikh and he was interested in finding out a bit more about sikhi. all he saw was a beard & turban and that was enough for him to ask - out of the two of us he had less hangups/insecurity! totally agree with dalsingh's point. the problem is often the first experiences they have of other sikhs are entirely negative e.g. relatives still angry at their parents marriage, weird looks at the GuruGhar as if they are aliens just landed on the planet but these are cultural taboos at odds to the basic message of sikhi. we shouldnt be so suprised to see sikhs of different ethnic origins and indeed non-sikhs at GuruGhar as isnt that what the GuruGhar is there for? to be open in all directions & all people? how easy do we make it for them to understand whats going on?
  5. daas has met a lot of youngsters in schools who have one parent of punjabi sikh origin & another from a different ethnic origin and often have Sikh names. many times they'll approach you because they are interested in their Sikh background but often nobody has bothered to help them research this. they usually have past negative experiences from the kind of reaction they get from their own parents, family, & our community. i dont understand why we put such a taboo on discussing this as even as early as 1800s there were people born of Sikh background in Western World, ironically leading the suffragette movement for womens rights. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sophia_Duleep_Singh by ignoring this next generation of Sikhs and not being open to discussing our dharam with insiders let alone outsiders have we lost the core message of Sikhi and how do we adapt?
  6. GuruJi would be so proud to see the use of the Jaikara at this moment(!) and did the protesters follow Maryada at all times? they were mainly monay & those with affiliation to specific jathay that hated him even before "alleged acts". carrying placards saying "Murdabad" and creating a disturbance at GuruGhar is something to cheer about? did they do so inside in Mahraj Hazoori? nice.. a Mona shouting Kuthaa at GuruGhar is always something to applaud.. what a moment to savour & record for all our viewing pleasure.. maybe for the next "Pelt-A-Stone-At-A-Saadh-Day" protesters can pick either jaikara or swearing rather than both? i suppose at least some non-Sikhs in the form of Police got to learn about Sikhi & Sikh protocols as they may have visited GuruGhar for the first time - great PR work nah nah Trigger Happy we should allow Lal Chand Prof Darshan Yumla Jatt, Kala Afghana aka Black Mamba & all these other Singh Sabha Canada prostitutes into GuruGhar because they contribute so much in sewa, simran & sadhna - without them where would the Panth be?
  7. it's a load of BS (bakwaas) anythin outside of Gurmat that tells you one person who follows Guru Granth Sahib Ji is inferior to another purely on their birth is rubbish. we all know that some of the best GurSikhs in history have come from totally random backgrounds. muslims actively invite and involve people from other backgrounds that learn about their faith & if they convert get them to preach. we should do similar rather than show our insecurities as at present & invite people of all backgrounds be they mazhabi/vanjara/dalit/yellow/black/white/etc to learn about sikhi & do parchaar as a positive strength and involve them in forefront sewa.
  8. to anyone who is thinking about questioning the status of even 1 letter of Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj, Bhagat Ravidas Ji himself provides appropriate reply on Ang 875: ਗੋਂਡ ॥ Gond. Gond: ਜੇ ॥ Je oh aṯẖsaṯẖ ṯirath nĥāvai. Someone may bathe at the sixty-eight sacred shrines of pilgrimage, ਜੇ ॥ Je oh ḏu▫āḏas silā pūjāvai. and worship the twelve Shiva-lingam stones, ਜੇ ॥ Je oh kūp ṯatā ḏevāvai. and dig wells and pools, ਕਰੈ ॥੧॥ Karai ninḏ sabẖ birthā jāvai. ||1|| but if he indulges in slander, then all of this is useless. ||1|| ਸਾਧ ॥ Sāḏẖ kā ninḏak kaise ṯarai. How can the slanderer of the Holy Saints be saved? ਸਰਪਰ ॥ Sarpar jānhu narak hī parai. ||1|| rahā▫o. Know for certain, that he shall go to hell. ||1||Pause|| ਜੇ ॥ Je oh garahan karai kulkẖeṯ. Someone may bathe at Kuruk-shaytra during a solar eclipse, ਅਰਪੈ ॥ Arpai nār sīgār sameṯ. and give his decorated wife in offering, ਸਗਲੀ ॥ Saglī simriṯ sarvanī sunai. and listen to all the Simritees, ਕਰੈ ॥੨॥ Karai ninḏ kavnai nahī gunai. ||2|| but if he indulges in slander, these are of no account. ||2|| ਜੇ ॥ Je oh anik parsāḏ karāvai. Someone may give countless feasts, ਭੂਮਿ ॥ Bẖūm ḏān sobẖā mandap pāvai. and donate land, and build splendid buildings; ਅਪਨਾ ॥ Apnā bigār birāʼnnā sāʼndẖai. he may neglect his own affairs to work for others, ਕਰੈ ॥੩॥ Karai ninḏ baho jonī hāʼndẖai. ||3|| but if he indulges in slander, he shall wander in countless incarnations. ||3|| ਨਿੰਦਾ ॥ Ninḏā kahā karahu sansārā. Why do you indulge in slander, O people of the world? ਨਿੰਦਕ ॥ Ninḏak kā pargat pāhārā. The emptiness of the slanderer is soon exposed. ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ॥ Ninḏak soḏẖ sāḏẖ bīcẖāri▫ā. I have thought, and determined the fate of the slanderer. Kaho Raviḏās pāpī narak siḏẖāri▫ā. ||4||2||11||7||2||49|| joṛ. Says Ravi Daas, he is a sinner; he shall go to hell. ||4||2||11||7||2||49|| Total||

  11. belieeve if they is a guy/girl they gonna hav questions 2 ask! sorry just being stupid - Sangat Ji please attend the camp as it looks like it'll be an ace summer this year & why not spend it in some good company - have a few laughs and find out more about yourself & your dharam.
  12. i dont mean this towards anyone in particular just generally in sangat we should look for the good in others. http://www.wingluke.org/pages/sikhcommunit...SinghNagra.html
  13. there is no rule against keski/patka in any professional arena, there is only BS referees. for health & safety its probly better to wear a thin kara & small kirpan & to keep those gupt. tbh as long as you're not taking a 3 foot khanda onto a cricket pitch then match officials should have the common sense to use discretion.
  14. whats the point of this topic? if you have a problem take it up with colonel sanders. look on the bright side - at least you know what his secret recipe is & why you often see muslims with yellow stuff on their fingers.
  15. oh look - i follow a jatha which doesnt believe in all of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj or Sri Dasam Granth or Sri Sarbloh Granth or any other Bani but you know what? these dudes over here who do recite Bani & have managed to remember how to do Kirtan properly i'm gonna rip it out of them just to make myself feel better about being the skidmark on the kachhera of the Panth that i am.
  16. http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=401881 looking at the response of Sangataan i agree with previous posters that there is no need for a new Gurdwara. in our community people treat GuruGhar like community clubs where if they dont like what is being said they open up their own club down the road where they can freely say Black is White. doesnt matter what facade or roop these people take, be it via internet, newspapers or "Sikh Lehar" - ultimately they do nothing but cause arguments in the Panth and throw gasoline and maximum pump on issues to drive a wedge between people and keep them divided so that they do not stand together. this has nothing to do with dharam and all about politics. too much ME ME ME - clearly there is something about local GuruGhar they dont like, and rather than do any genuine sewa such as in Langar theyd rather set up something separate hoping people will sing their praises.
  17. http://www.sikhlehar.com/ Veer/Bheno now is the time to be aware of the disgusting bakwaas that is being peddled by these inbred bunch of rednecks. the lot of them would fit in better with their brothers in Alabama where they can roam free with other lowlife rodents. Canada waleo this is your backyard! are you going to let this be used as a platform to push this excrement on the next generation of Sikhs? please get together and do something about this or put on some chuniaan.
  18. The following are excerpts from the English version of the last international speech given by Jaswant Singh Khalra: On 6th September, 1995 at 9:15am he was arrested by police while washing his car outside his home in Kabir Park, Amritsar. He too disappeared.
  19. taxpayers alliance my bakside! sikhs contribute more to the british economy than most communities and what do we get in return? anti-sikh laws, rules, regulations and red-tape that prevents us from going about our daily business and restricts our way of life. a bill for ten times this would be too low. a message needs to be sent that if you get in the way of a sikh's right to freely practise their faith - you will pay a heavy price.
