  1. As said in the picture : hoie isK isr topI DrY ] swq jnm kuStI huie mrY ] hoe sikh sir ttopee dhharai || saath janam kushattee hue marai || He who as a Sikh places a hat on their head; will be reborn seven times as a leper. Thankhaanama Bhai Nand Laal Jee From personal experience : I used to wear a winter cap in the beginning of this year from January till April. One day an American friend of mine pulled it off my head, as a joke. I felt really embarassed as I was growing my hair then and it felt weird to have my head uncovered, even though it was for a few seconds. I felt "If I had a dastaar on my head, no one would have had the courage to even touch it!" That was the very first time I felt the need for dastaar. Gurujee has given us such a priceless crown. We should wear it with dignity always!!
  2. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! wow! what a way to look at things Dhann GurSikhi !!
  3. I agree. Just make it clear that you don't mind paying as long as its vegetarian food. Explain to them that you are not going to spend your money on buying meat as it violates your religious beliefs. I know it can be really hard to do it as they may think you are a fanatic, but go ahead! :e:
  4. As Pheena jee said, LOVE and ONLY LOVE is the only prerequisite requirement, and I fully agree. Forgive me for my foolish way of thinking, but this is what I feel (I am going to write my mind out here). What does it mean to love someone? First there is love, then it starts to grow, and then a stage comes when it reaches a stage where one proclaims "the fire of love burns within me" (no I am not writing under the influence of Bollywood or narcotics). This is where you surrender totally to the one you love. You cease to act or think according to your will and happily give it all upto the one you love. Taking Amrit is this very stage of love. You are so madly and crazily in love with SatGuru Jee that you fall at His feet and surrender yourself totally to Him (no I am not there yet  ). And that LOVE, my friends, is what will take us across. I do support THIS LOVE as the sole requirement for ANY religion. I am not questioning the love of someone who is a Mona or a non-Amritdhari, but all I am saying is that if someone truly has reached that stage of love, they will for sure take Amrit (just my opinion) . It is with Gurujee's grace that one grows gradually up this ladder of love. I am in no way saying that Amritdharis are superior to anyone. If my earlier post sounded so, I apologize. Sorry for the long message, dunno how much sense it made.
  5. Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Many many Happy Returns of the Day Gurmukho  May Gurujee always keep u under His Grace :TH: Stay in Chardi Kala
  6. Once upon a time that was exactly my opinion... (which is clear from my older posts) ...until I took Amrit  but yes...i encourage EVERYONE to recite Gurbani no matter what stage of Sikhi they are at...in due course, Gurujee will take you by your hand and u will progress
  7. 1. Change name of this thread to : sadde pyaare Pheena Ji 2. I have a song dedicated to Pheena Ji Will the real Pheena shady please stand up, please stand up, please stand up !!! by the way, Pheena's posts mostly bomb the hell out of the whole issue, whatever it is (my personal observation).
  8. hmmm :T: ...and all these years i thought only christians and muslims make noise and fight about their faith being the best one :yehyehyeh: ... this is how i'd say it : SIKHI IS THE BEST FOR ME oh well...anyways...
  9. And I dunno how to tie it...now what ?
  10. I was surprised to see a Singh with open beard singing pop style. But the song has a philosophical touch to it, so I guess its cool
  11. I was crazy about going to watch Veer Zaara yesterday. I don't know what went wrong with me (I went double crazy) and I changed my mind at the last minute. Anyone saw it yet ?
  12. Guru Nanak was born in a Hindu family, so Hindus claim He was Hindu. Guru Nanak went to Mecca, and so Muslims came it was Haj, therefore He was a Muslim. Guru Nanak visited the north-eastern part of India, and now some Buddhists claim He was one of their Lama (i.e Dalai Lama). Doesn't this make you feel proud? Everyone wants to claim the glory of Sikhi, the glory of Guru Nanak, and all they have to back up is bs. They can go on for ages but the truth is always unchanged. Just stay away from this dude. In your concluding comments, say "The Quran was written after Muhammad Sahib but the Gurus wrote SGGS themselves. The Quran was revealed by an angel but Gurbani came direct from Akal Purkh. Their prophet was not educated but Gurujee knew tons of languages, science, politics and the art of war and weaponry, and what not!!" This should be enough to silence him.
  13. is it today ? :T: november 24th ? :T: i think its today, hana ? anyways  DHANN DHANN SAHIB SRI GURU TEGH BAHADUR JEE MAHARAJ SACHHAY PATSHAH This poem is for few of those Hindus who have completely forgotten the unparallel sacrifice of Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib For you He left His family, His son, His wife For you He didn’t hesitate to sacrifice His life For you He courted arrest, and suffered all tortures To fill your life with the roses of happiness, and joy filled orchards For you He saw His Sikhs sawn and boiled The hands of the Mughals with blood were soiled For you He refused all pleasures and comforts And accepted the pains that can shake all hearts For you He rejected proposals of wealth So that your generations could thrive in health For yo u He sacrificed His body and His head So that you could live fearlessly and earn your bread Have you forgotten all He has done His people you made the object of fun Have you forgotten the legacy of His martyrdom that to the oppression of His people you act deaf and dumb? Have you forgotten His sacrifice, oh so complete! That today His message for you has become totally obsolete! Have you forgotten that He is your saviour Or the Mughals would do to you what else but devour Forget not the One who saved you Protected your honor and carried you through Forget not the One who took all the pains Death for Himself, for you all the gains Forget not the One who had His head severed Today His people are mocked by you, instead of being revered Wake up my dear, before its too late Your silence and indifference is ruining your own fate Wake up my dear, or you will pay a cost Hatred will fume and all love will be lost Wake up my dear, and recognize this fact What He did for you was an ultimate act! Wake up my dear, wake up and bow down Bow down to the Master of Sikhs, the Sikhs whom you labelled a clown Wake up my dear, and say after me Say with your heart and you will be free Dhann Guru Teg Bahadur, tu Hind di chaddar Tu hi sadda sacha patshah tu hi sadda rehbar ~ das Mehtab Singh - written in July 2003
