  4. ps. maaf karna - but the title of this thread is wrong. SIKHISM is not the cause of their so called "ego"... on the contrary, Sikhi is the abolisher of ego. It is their own mind which is the creator and cause of their ego. They use Sikhi as an excuse.
  5. Funky. Any more programmes happening for Gurpurab around the uk, please dont hesitate to add to this section. PS. Can sangat please refrain from saying just "Guru Nanak Dev Ji's Birthday"... Guru is beyond birth and death. Put Guru Nanak Dev Ji's physical birth or Gurpurab.. or the coming of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. IF one has a birth-day, it also suggests they have or will have a day when they will die. Guru is Eternal.
  6. whoa R4G : The Next Level Fantastic.
  7. ah - u know by us saying "that person has hunkaar" ... that doesnt make us any better than them in a sense. We take a lot for granted, including langar. Just take it with a pinch of salt and say "Maharaj, you are right... i am not even worth of having your beautiful langar served right to me. But Maharaj, if i go do get langar myself... please dont turn me away Vaheguru. Please make me worthy of being able to eat your langar with your saadh sangat."
  8. To celebrate this years Gurpurab of Dhan Guru Nanak Dev Jee, Wolverhampton will be holding a weekend of special programmes to commemorate the physical birth of Guru Nanak Dev Jee - the founder of Sikhi On Sunday, for the first time in years, there will also be an outdoor roadshow presentation with many guest personalities including Bhai Roop Singh : the story teller. There will be kids workshops, keertan, katha in english, discussions, prizes, games and much more. Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara, Sedgley Street, Wolverhampton This saturday and sunday.
  9. emphasis should be on keertan - not keertani, shouldnt it? Surely EVERYONE should be reciting Gurbani together - keertani lead, sangat follow. When theres a rehansbhai and keertani sit WITH the sangat, its quite an amazing experience because EVERYONE joins in - they dont have their eyes fixed on how the keertani look when they are singing n so forth - the emphasis is a lot more on the Gurbani eg. Guru Granth Sahib Jee, the sttm screens or people have their eyes closed. When they do sit on the floor, they area of the saaz is covered with a white sheet - so the keertani are raised a bit higher than the rest of the sangat. I dont quite get what the difference is between that and a stage though.
  10. I thought this looked really amazing... This false-colour image from Nasa's Spitzer Space Telescope shows the scattered remains of an exploded star, Cassiopeia A. The faint blue glow shows material that was energised when the star blew up, while the green, yellow and red colours mainly represents material ejected in the blast.
  11. western culture.. actually, it originated elsewhere. It was called "all hallows eve" before. I didnt say it originated anywhere. I said it has become a part of western culture.
  12. Halloween is a bit of fun - part of western culture. Just relax a bit and give them whatever u can - some sweets or a bit of loose change. Not going to kill ya and u make some kids a bit happier.
  13. Sikh Channel has not launched yet. http://www.sikhchannel.eu
  14. its one of them things u cud go all the way with and say well, ok should a PC with STTM installed be acceptable to have non-sikhi stuff on it like audio tracks of bhangra, punjabi, hindi songs etc etc? photos of family and friends? movies? Because (most of the time) people store these on the same hard drive. Then, the screen that actually displays the Gurbani (PDA and Laptops alike)... they should be totally clean. The hands used to hold or operate them should be suche... the user should have had full keshi isshnaan and chaur sahib di seva must be done. Shoes? socks? There are so many levels you could take this issue to. At the end of the day, Babbar Khalsa is right - give as MUCH satkaar as you can and i never said things are so logical. I just stated a fact. Im not sure if theres a right or wrong answer to this question...
  15. Well its held in binary format ... ie 1's and 0's... its not actually a hard copy...

    Two Kareh

FATEH!! How about two wallets, cellphones ..BALANCE ..you know!! Before you get hyper, I do respect your personal opinion on wearing 2 kareh :TH: GURU RAKHA!! LOL! Oh u know wot i mean But ideally, i think God made us perfectly balanced for a reason so we should stick to it. If anyone wants to gimme a wad of cash, i wudnt mind keeping two wallets! And i alredi carry two cellulars :D
  17. So where are you gonna stop RajanSingh? You've already "highlighted issues" with Abinash Singh and Bhai Manjeet Singh... what, are you going to start new threads on every keertani who uses hindi/bhangra pop tunes? Coz if so, admin may want to think about getting a new server to cope with it...
  18. The picture is also sat higher than Guru Jee - King of Kings :D

  20. These guys produce dharamik tracks - sikh faith based songs - and it says in the article "two brothers trained in classical tabla, gurmat sangeet" ... Gurmat Sangeet... isnt Gurmat Sikhi? It'd be interesting to know if they actually play any dharmik tracks on the day. Sorry if it offends and admin can remove this thread if they see it as irrelevent.
  21. FYI if neone is interested :D http://www.bbc.co.uk/electricproms/nextstage/tigerstyle/ Tigerstyle are playing the BBC Electric Proms Asian Network gig on Saturday 28 October. Scottish Bhangra production duo Tigerstyle are two brothers trained in classical tabla, gurmat sangeet and various forms of punjabi folk music and instrumentation. Howeveer, they have a broad taste in contemporary music ranging from Hip Hop to Drum n Bass and Dance and it is this fusion of the traditional and contemporary that has fuelled their success. The brothers have released a number of singles and albums and also taken on official remix duties for the likes of Lisa Maffia and Raghav. After some legal wranglings with previous record companies, they recently signed to Nachural Records (the label that launched Panjabi MC) and are preparing a new debut single and album for worldwide release. The success of Tigerstyle has seen them tour all over the world and they've shared stages with the likes of Talvin Singh, Nitin Sawhney, Gunjan, Asian Dub Foundation, Badmarsh & Shri, Truth Hurts, Panjabi MC, Future World Funk and Bobby Friction & Nihal on Radio 1. Tigerstyle were selected for Next Stage by BBC Asian Network with Bobby Friction.

    Two Kareh

Ive actually started to wear two kareh too now - and i wouldnt go back to wearing one now coz my body feels so balanced. Think about it... our body is almost symetrical and we have an arm, leg, eye, nostril, etc etc on each side so to have one karaa feels almost inbalanced when comparing the feeling of having two kareh. I wish i could wear shaster all the time on each side as well, rather than just the one kirpaan on one side...
