  2. The very fact that law lords decision was made 25year's ago regarding similar case should have made this case a non-starter and the school libel for prosecution for breaching race and equality laws a long time ago.
  3. Sikh heritage vandalised in Pakistan Varinder Walia/Tribune News Service Amritsar, July 27 The Pakistan Evacuee Property Trust Board, which controls the religious shrines in Pakistan, including gurdwaras, has whitewashed frescos at historical Gurdwara Dera Sahib, Lahore, in utter disregard to the Sikh heritage. This vandalisation act has been despite tall claims of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) and the board about the preservation of the Sikh heritage. A senior teacher of Guru Nanak Dev University, Balvinder Singh, took the pictures of the destruction of Sikh heritage during his recent visit to Pakistan. He said while a portion of the old frescos had been whitewashed, coloured glasses had replaced the fresh ones on the other side of the gurdwara. Gurdwara Dera Sahib is situated opposite Lahore Fort near Badshahi Mosque. This is the place where fifth Sikh master Guru Arjan Dev was tortured to death in the Ravi on May 30, 1606 AD. At the site where the Guru attained martyrdom, a Thara (platform) Sahib was built by Guru Hargobind in Samvat 1619 when he came to Lahore on a visit to religious places. Later, Maharaja Ranjit Singh got the building of the gurdwara constructed. It was Balvinder Singh who first raised the issue of fast vanishing frescos (Mohrakashi) at Gurdwara Dera Sahib about three years ago. However, the Pakistan authorities did not consult the conservationists or heritage experts before taking up the renovation work at the gurdwara. A similar damage to Sikh heritage had been done at Indian gurdwaras during "kar sewa" by babas. Earlier, allegations had been levelled against the Pakistan authorities for using national green colour on certain Sikh shrines.
  4. The owners of the federal reserve bank of america are basically the power brokers behind the us govt. Whatever their agenda is, that is what the american govt will abid by because their in such debt. 2 sayings everyone should remember he who has control of money/gold has power he who has knowlegde/intellgence has power. Like the khalif's /mughuls of islam, brahmins of hinduism, pharoh's of eygpt, freemasons of western countries, communist leadership of china. All these people ruled only because of largely uneducated and economically poor masses. That is why its in their interests not to see true equality between the powers/classes or egaliterian systems come to power because it would ruin their hold on worldly power.

  6. Theres several rampurs in several states in india. The most likely is in indian state of Uttar Pradesh where the school and incident in question is located.
  7. Turban removal, scuffle lead to tension in Rampur Rampur, July 24: The alleged attempts by some students of a higher secondary school here to forcibly remove the turban of a Sikh classmate and a subsequent scuffle led to opening fire at a Gurudwara at VP Colony here. Police today said cases were registered against seven persons in connection with the incident last evening and two of them were arrested. Tension began after some students of St Anthony Higher Secondary School pulled down their classmate's turban. Later, they beat up a Sikh youth and resorted to firing in the Sant Bhai Ji Baba gurudwara premises, where he took shelter. Protesting against this, Sikhs took out protests wielding swords on the national highway and disrupted traffic. A state- owned bus was damaged, following which police resorted to baton charge. Meanwhile, police held a meeting with leaders of Sikh community to maintain law and order
  8. I don't know what that got to do with Sikhism directly, more of a Muslim propaganda video to subdue all moderate thinkers with out the extremists putting them off in my opinion. Don't you agree cool water? Funnly enough i used to laugh at conspricy theories that muslims used to put out. But now since the credit crunch and the witnesses of higher oil prices, the usa+israel's sabre rattling against iran it all begins to make sense. That international private bankers are actually the real power masters behind most governments around the world and profit the most when their is a war/conflit going on as they lend loans with high interest rates which lead to debt and are unpayable by governments which means the government of the respective nation is under obligation to follow the agenda of the bankers.

  11. If the word kesh is missing, it is very significant as it in how the rehit maryada should be rewritten. Keeping uncut Kesh means our scholars and leaders have been discriminating and alienating many sikhs for a long time. They have been against those who chose not to keep kesh and labelled outside the sikh fold.
  12. Theres alot of politics going on. Indian Congress terrorist party support dera chief wheras akali dal is against such dera cult's which try to blur the lines between hinduism and sikhism. The dera issue is less about religion and more about regional politics and destorying or eroding away of political aspirations of the Sikhs to rule in their own region. Haryana and himachel pardesh is also punjab but due to events in 1960's the govt created split it into 3 for punjabi hindu's who wanted their language as hindi rather than punjabi. So the dera's are trying to slowly get a foothold into punjab so they can change the demographics of the Sikh majority state. It is not their fault it is the fault of our leaders who havent sent out missionaries to convey the message to ignorant sikh's and punjabi hindu's that worshipping cult leaders in dera's etc doesnt serve anyone but the cults political leaders and their luxarious lifestyles. Violent reactionism is not the solution its just helping those who have vested interests to see that that region in a mess.
  13. Another thing is lack of religion in peoples lives. As society becomes broken with selfish indiviualism, especially in urban area's, they do not care about their responsibility towards their community and the greater society. Kids are raised with disregard or respect for other people. Only faith gives them moral boundaries, guidence and a structure to their lives.
  14. I've seen unidentifble flying object's too, they were in a formation just before sunset... but dont quite know whether they were intelligent life from outter space or something more earthy based rational explained objects. But one thing is for sure there is excellent footage by mexico military and civilians who have captured objects that clearly cant be explained away. (mexico jet fighters tracking ufos)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bD5QOCaABbg...feature=related (in UK airspace 2 american f-15 fighters are "buzzed" by a ufo)
  15. Thanks for sharing, some of these pics of Sant ji ive never seen before.
  16. I come from Punjabi Sikh background and I'm pretty sure that the 3HO crew would have a better understanding about strife and hardship than many in my family including myself. Not every sikh is clued on about such issues and I think the 3HO guys are doing a better job than most of us, who'd rather argue about minute issues instead of workin on Ekta and teaching our youths etc. Some people actually get INSPIRED by sikhs doing bhangra cos they realise that sikhi isnt as fundamental as a lot of u make out- that even though we lead disciplined lives; we still do a lot of ordinary things (as long as it doesnt clash with sikhi - which none of you have been able to prove here). As long as the lyrics are clean, what the heck is wrong with bhangra? You guys are just clinging on to the negative issues related to the dance - not looking outside the box... Also, just cos they wear their sikhi saroops, doesnt mean they are saying that bhangra is a SIKH practice. another point, women are equal to men (esp. in sikhi) so either BOTH men and women take off their dastaars (which I wouldnt be prepared to do) or neither. There are so many more issues within the panth which need our attention and you guys are goin off on one over dancing? How about tryin to do parchar against the negative lyrics within bhangra songs and disgusting videos? I'd rather see clean dancing like in the video than Jazzy B playing Rambo!!?? Thing is i admire converts to Sikhism from 3H0 because they know more about the faith than i do, but when they get into punjabi cultural things like bhangra and mix it with sikhism then thats when i start wonder what are they on? When you look at the video you see the women shaking their bum side to side in a provocative manor, even though they might not intend to to be precieved like that... it does look that way because if you see countless bollywood video's the women always shaking their bums to attract the males. This kind of behaviour for amritdhari women is unacceptable in my eyes, you get a wrong impression of so called religious Sikh women. You already have many youtube video's of people making disrespectful comments about muslim hijabi women who are shaking their bums side to side while a guy on mic is yelling "allah, allah, yallah" it gives a very negative portrayal of muslim hijabi/niqabi women, makes them look like sex objects. Example... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9BRZ5_xVg8

  18. I put it down to secterianism. Different sects within Sikhism have different ways of doing things, as long as they dont bring fundamental messages or scriptures of sikhism into disrepute i couldnt care less what they get upto. Though wearing the Guru's amritdhari bana and then partaking in punjabi cultural dance like bhangra I think is giving wrong impression of the amritdhari's, that Sikhi is all fun and jokes. 3H0 Sikhs havent suffered hardships and brutal strifes and persecution that Asian/Indian/Punjabi Sikhs have throughout our history we can relate to what it means to having to fight for our faith, they dont yet. Thats why their so liberal and dont have many boundaries, they think its narrow mindedness on such issues but I would say they can do bhangra aslong as they dont wear the guru's bana and make it look like a joke. The women in particular if they want to do bhangra they should wear a chuni not a dastaar, women are supposed to be more self restrained and more respectful. I used to look upto 3HO/kundalini yoga type Sikhs as practising Sikhism in a more simple and pure way, but these kinda activities just shows the gradually decline in standards...
  19. It's a vicious cycle, when kids start taking up arms in the street and killing each other with them and govt isnt providing secruity then other kids start taking up arms to protect themselves. Solution is not simple, but they can start by first providing basic secruity (ie more police on streets especially council estates). The basic requirement of any nation and its government is to protect its citizens. If a govt cant do that then there is no need to recognise the authority of such a govt and people will make their own arrangements for defence.
  20. Projectnaad congratulations on a great website, very informative and great educational resouce.
  21. I appreciate their special status for bhagat ravi dass and the anti-sikh discrimination they face as dalits particularly from the arrogent jatts but still no excuse to worship a human figure and mix hinduism with sikhism cos thats what these lot do. Sikhism is against idol worship yet many ravi dassians worship bhagat ravi dass as their God and his statue is often displayed in their gurdwara/mandir.
  22. worshipping bhagat ravi dass as a God? twising the sikh battle cry with a funny ravi dassi version? :S are these people mad or what
  23. Talking of 60years later....it reminds me of the fool Master tara singh, he was possibly the worst sikh leader ever in our history. Millions of Sikhs suffered because of his ill judged leadership and actions. We cant afford to have idiots like him ever represent us again. Leadership should be given to those who have superiour intellect/wisedom
