  1. Did he? :S I was quite shocked when i saw this too. Rest of the video is good though and is great that BBC chose Sikhism to encourage interfaith tolerance. I was also annoyed because he called Guru Ji "Holy Book". On a lot of Sikh websites, Guru Ji is called "Holy Book", but he should have elaborated on the fact that Guru Ji is more than just a "book".
  2. I also know that he does wrong parchaar - his views are a little twisted. Surprisingly he is supported by some known groups and jathas even though they know what hes like :S
  3. Nope i been told this is the official site run from the UK :-) It seems to back online anyway
  4. I second that. Also, if a kirtani wasnt going to be turning up, the sangat should have been informed BEFORE the program started. Just some suggestions, that being said, Bani is Bani whether its sung by a granthi or a super dooper raagi.
  5. I agree Maybe if Sikhs on the whole nowadays stopped doing so much dikhaavaa and *edited* and concentrated on their education, we would have some excellent modern day young Sikh scholars like we did in the past and have at the present in our older generation.
  6. He just looks evil. But that being said, innocent until proven guilty. Please keep us posted on this story.
  7. I have been quite neutral on camps etc for a while... but now i agree totally : SIKH STUDENT CAMP must be stopped now. Enough is enough of this charade. However, we need another totally neutral organisation to take up the seva of organising camps for beginniners. Khalsa Camp is fantastic at boosting spirituality and it can be quite advanced stuff... Sikhi Camp is great for people who are new into Sikhi but there is no camp like Sikh Student camp for encouraging moneh etc to take up Gursikhi in their lives. Sikh Student Camp has had its chance and its failed. Its failed to bring in the right parchaaraks and balance the level of "chilling" and "seva, simran, sangat" which there is hardly none of. Even if there is, its not a priority. So i support the motion to get rid of this camp.. but we need something in its place.
  8. Beatiful and very inspirational... thanks

  10. The first part of the Dohraa is Guru Gobind Singh Jee's pavitar bachan recorded in BHAI PRAHLAAD SINGH JEE's Rehitnaama and also written later on in the late 1800s in Giani Gian Singh's "Tvareekh Guru Khalsa" and "Panth Prakaash": AwigAw BeI Akwl kI qbY clwXo pMQ [ sB isKn ko hukm hY gurU mwnIE gRMQ [ gurU gRMQ jI mwnIE pRgt gurW kI dyh [ jo pRB ko imlbo cihh Koj sbd mih lyh [ "As was ordained by the Timeless, thus was established the Panth. To all Sikhs, let this be the order, recognize the Granth as your Guru The reverend Guru Granth is the visible body of the gurus Those that seek to meet with Vaaheguru, delve into the Shabad" The second part of the Dohraa is Guru Gobind Singh Jee's pavitar bachan recorded in BHAI NAND LAL SINGH JEE's Tankhaahnaama. rwj krygw Kwlsw AwkI rihh n koie [ Kwr hoie sB imlYNgy bcih Srn jo hoie [ "The Sikh people shall remain free and sovereign, always, non-challenging this position. For, all shall realize, after bitter frustration, that there is no redemption except in the way of the life that the Khalsa upholds!" There are some minor differences in some words in the various sources which have recorded Guru Gobind Singh jee's bachan used in the Dohraa which we sing, due to the language and writing style of the scriber. However, the ESSENCE and MESSAGE is all the SAME.
  11. Yes they are in the UK as they did kirtan in Gurdwara Karamsar, Ilford last night. They said they were still here for 5 more weeks. No idea where else they are going to be doing kirtan. As they say that they are amongst those that leading the campaign against, the Saucha Suda Dera;, should they not focus there energy and time in India, rather than come on a tour of the UK. Sant Baba Ranjit, cancelled their tour. This is not to say that i do not recognise, the tremondous amount of panthic work that Baba Baljit Singh, has been undertaking. If he is here for a 'break' that is fine, i.e. to re-charge himself, however if he is here to collect money, l disagree with that. Was Baba The Sacha Saudha Dera issue is an international world-wide concern - therefore some travelling abroad to gain support and resources may be required. If you have any issues or need more information, Baba Ji is in the UK so please direct your queries to him directly.
  12. Reminds of when Maharaj says in Gurbani... jb hm hoqy qb qum nwhI Ab qum hhu hm nwhI ] jab ham hothae thab thum naahee ab thum hahu ham naahee || When I was, then You were not; now that You are, I am not. When i said "I" Maharaj, i had forgotten you. How could I find you when I didnt even remember you. But now Maharaj, now that all "I" think of is you... there is no "I"... all there is... is you.
  13. yeh sure, anyway people, radha soami's are not Sikhs anyway so leave em to rot...!
