  1. Did he? :S I was quite shocked when i saw this too. Rest of the video is good though and is great that BBC chose Sikhism to encourage interfaith tolerance. I was also annoyed because he called Guru Ji "Holy Book". On a lot of Sikh websites, Guru Ji is called "Holy Book", but he should have elaborated on the fact that Guru Ji is more than just a "book".
  2. I also know that he does wrong parchaar - his views are a little twisted. Surprisingly he is supported by some known groups and jathas even though they know what hes like :S
  3. Nope i been told this is the official site run from the UK :-) It seems to back online anyway
  4. I second that. Also, if a kirtani wasnt going to be turning up, the sangat should have been informed BEFORE the program started. Just some suggestions, that being said, Bani is Bani whether its sung by a granthi or a super dooper raagi.
  5. I agree Maybe if Sikhs on the whole nowadays stopped doing so much dikhaavaa and *edited* and concentrated on their education, we would have some excellent modern day young Sikh scholars like we did in the past and have at the present in our older generation.
  6. He just looks evil. But that being said, innocent until proven guilty. Please keep us posted on this story.
  7. I have been quite neutral on camps etc for a while... but now i agree totally : SIKH STUDENT CAMP must be stopped now. Enough is enough of this charade. However, we need another totally neutral organisation to take up the seva of organising camps for beginniners. Khalsa Camp is fantastic at boosting spirituality and it can be quite advanced stuff... Sikhi Camp is great for people who are new into Sikhi but there is no camp like Sikh Student camp for encouraging moneh etc to take up Gursikhi in their lives. Sikh Student Camp has had its chance and its failed. Its failed to bring in the right parchaaraks and balance the level of "chilling" and "seva, simran, sangat" which there is hardly none of. Even if there is, its not a priority. So i support the motion to get rid of this camp.. but we need something in its place.
  8. Beatiful and very inspirational... thanks

  10. The first part of the Dohraa is Guru Gobind Singh Jee's pavitar bachan recorded in BHAI PRAHLAAD SINGH JEE's Rehitnaama and also written later on in the late 1800s in Giani Gian Singh's "Tvareekh Guru Khalsa" and "Panth Prakaash": AwigAw BeI Akwl kI qbY clwXo pMQ [ sB isKn ko hukm hY gurU mwnIE gRMQ [ gurU gRMQ jI mwnIE pRgt gurW kI dyh [ jo pRB ko imlbo cihh Koj sbd mih lyh [ "As was ordained by the Timeless, thus was established the Panth. To all Sikhs, let this be the order, recognize the Granth as your Guru The reverend Guru Granth is the visible body of the gurus Those that seek to meet with Vaaheguru, delve into the Shabad" The second part of the Dohraa is Guru Gobind Singh Jee's pavitar bachan recorded in BHAI NAND LAL SINGH JEE's Tankhaahnaama. rwj krygw Kwlsw AwkI rihh n koie [ Kwr hoie sB imlYNgy bcih Srn jo hoie [ "The Sikh people shall remain free and sovereign, always, non-challenging this position. For, all shall realize, after bitter frustration, that there is no redemption except in the way of the life that the Khalsa upholds!" There are some minor differences in some words in the various sources which have recorded Guru Gobind Singh jee's bachan used in the Dohraa which we sing, due to the language and writing style of the scriber. However, the ESSENCE and MESSAGE is all the SAME.
  11. Yes they are in the UK as they did kirtan in Gurdwara Karamsar, Ilford last night. They said they were still here for 5 more weeks. No idea where else they are going to be doing kirtan. As they say that they are amongst those that leading the campaign against, the Saucha Suda Dera;, should they not focus there energy and time in India, rather than come on a tour of the UK. Sant Baba Ranjit, cancelled their tour. This is not to say that i do not recognise, the tremondous amount of panthic work that Baba Baljit Singh, has been undertaking. If he is here for a 'break' that is fine, i.e. to re-charge himself, however if he is here to collect money, l disagree with that. Was Baba The Sacha Saudha Dera issue is an international world-wide concern - therefore some travelling abroad to gain support and resources may be required. If you have any issues or need more information, Baba Ji is in the UK so please direct your queries to him directly.
  12. Reminds of when Maharaj says in Gurbani... jb hm hoqy qb qum nwhI Ab qum hhu hm nwhI ] jab ham hothae thab thum naahee ab thum hahu ham naahee || When I was, then You were not; now that You are, I am not. When i said "I" Maharaj, i had forgotten you. How could I find you when I didnt even remember you. But now Maharaj, now that all "I" think of is you... there is no "I"... all there is... is you.
  13. yeh sure, anyway people, radha soami's are not Sikhs anyway so leave em to rot...!
  14. What happened with the guy from France who got blasted by the Federation secratary? Harbinder Singh went a bit too far to blast him like that, but the guy was a bit wrong for going on there and saying that stuff about the kirpaan... he said it was a waste of time organising that major rally in France that happened a while back - because the Singhs would not take off their kirpaanaa to enter the government building.
  15. I heard this song and some of the lyrics reminded me of the each of the vices... have a read : It's a thief in the night To come and grab you It can creep up inside you And consume you A disease of the mind It can control you It's too close for comfort Turn on your break lights We're in the city of wonder Ain't gonna play nice Watch out, you might just go under Better think twice Your train of thought will be altered So if you must faulter be wise Your mind is in disturbia It's like the darkness is the light Disturbia Am I scaring you tonight Your mind is in disturbia Ain't used to what you like Disturbia
  16. Kool. Dont attend the event then. Simple Nah mate, i aint worked up - and I can decide for myself whats good for me and not thanks. In terms of Sikhi parchaar, this is the same Kaurageous that has helped and solely organised Keertan Darbaars, talks at unis and Gurdwaras and been involved in distributing literature about Sikhi to the masses, distributing Gurbani and Simran CD's FREE of charge, and doing Japji Sahib akhand paaths...... I think you should look at yourselves and ask yourselves what you do first before you criticise others. All im saying is that they must be doing something right if they have girls turning into Singhnia and doing seva. I assure you, i do not lie with anything i have written in this post and if you wish for clarification and proof, feel free to e-mail the Singhnia @ kaurageous
  17. Yeh and? They go out to cinema, they go bowling, they go ice skating. They dont go drinking, boozing, clubbing, pulling every lad in sight. I think someone should lay the "smack down" on people like you. I think Kaurageous should keep going the way they have been going. It hasnt been set up to please or accomodate people like you anyway - so no one is really interested in what you think anyway, but granted this is a public form and thanks for your opinion. Now go watch tv or woteva ure going to do after getting off your pc and let these sevadhars get on with what they are doing which is finding ways new ways to bring people closer together and more importantly, closer to the Guru. You ask how they tackle the issues of bibiya? From what i hear, theyve helped a few girls out in tricky situation. And hello, its a young organisation. Was you wiping your own behind at the age of one? I think not. Im not getting worked up before you think it. Im just getting sick of no gooders like you who can sit on their a$$ on a pc and diss those who are trying to do some good even though they dont do jack themselves. U lot can chat all you want - dont think they gonna stop on ure say anyway.
  18. ok now u two jokas have ruined the ruined thread...!
  19. Rupinder Singh, i thought u were going to shut up? (in a nice way!) :S I kinda agree with what ure saying though, i dont agree to some extents with the comedy of Sukhi Singh as taking the mickey out of dhaadhi vaaraan is wrong. I cant even look at another dhadhi now without cracking up. In terms of the quiz night, im all for it. besides u lot didnt rant n rave last year when it happend in the midlands. I dont get it. or maybe our tolerance levels are decreasing as the years go by...
  20. As United1985 said - the keertania dont have anything to do with the selling of CD's by ksuk. I aint attacking you mate, i simply responded to your message. If you percieved it as an attack... sorry. Besides, whats it to you?? How does KSUK selling CD's affect you? T-series been selling audio cds for decades and all keertania (all major keertania) have cd's. These guys are doing a great seva and arent profiting from it. So whats it to you? If you can do the same seva they do of bringing keertania from around the world to UK and not worry about costs, then by all means go ahead and do so and relieve the sevadars of their duties. If not, then chupp kar ke behja. Simple.
