  1. sorry i'm gonna butt in here briefly, and then at length in the future i think naaz's thinking is brilliant, it's all good. I wouldn't be trying to convert him, that up to you naaz, just see what happens. but the main thing is that you seem to be a man of god/a man in search of god. and that's the main thing, the bhagat's of different backgrounds who recognised the greatness, one-ness, and inclussivity of god were included in guru granth sahib ji. I will say however that those views are in guru granth sahib ji. But i'm not sure how many other religions preach such unity and equality - will expand later. but you have discovered a path, and however you want to follow it is up to you, but at least you have some realisation unlike many of us who are born into this path, with these ideals and still fail to prosper.
  2. vjkk, vjkf. so many issues here man. the blatantly anti panthis views of sgpc are there to see, with bjp backing and talking about 84 again as though sikhs were the terrorists. but then there's the issue of dividing the panth into smaller and smaller parts. so many stupid organisations and with uneducated 'hardcore' followers that create a divide by trying to show their party to be greater. when clearly wisdom has deserted them and they do not listen to guru ji's updesh properly. why can't we come together as a nation, a sikh panth. Have ''rehits'' written down for those who follow certain paths - but recognise those rehit's as being that of a sikh following a particular path to god BUT categorise the whole group as the panth. With the hope that with higher education, and deeper understanding of guru ji's baani we slowly move towards some common ground, but even so allow those different rehit's but with fundamentals being 7 bania nitnem, 5 kakaar, 4 bujjar kurehitan etc. manas ki jaat sabhai ekai pehaichanibo - we can't even do that in the panth. bhullan andar sab ko, abhul guru kartar - so educate, but why try to force change when we will all be judged at the end by the greatest judge - who are we to judge. jap ji sahib - second pauree - hukam. karmi aapo aapni, ke nerai ke dhoor it would be so much easier if all sikhs focused on mukhti and the fundamentals of naam jupana, vandh shakna, dassan nauhan di kirt. 'raj na chahaun, mukat na chahaun; mun preet charan kumlaare' 'raj karega khalsa' the khalsa will rule - the pure and the free will rule > how do we become pure and how do we become truly free...
  3. lol you just realised - joking they've been doing chak thal of jathedars like no man's business. vedanti was getting somewhere with a few issues, was talking to giani takhur singh ji last year and they mentioned that they were very very close on quite a few important issues and vedanti was more or less ready to sign them off. don't know what's happened since. The jathedar usually get respected, but it's the sgpc lot many have a problem with.

  5. i'm not sure they even saw the suggestion. was hoping for something over the last couple of days. i guess it's not gonna happen now. but PLEASE can someone record it and find out where they are next. and does anyone know if bhai gulbagh singh and dilbagh singh are coming/in the uk and if so where or when :s
  6. yeap great ideas, i will take some time to think about the subject and maybe tommorow post my 2 pence. but for now i will say this, that some people are saying we need to teach more in english cause that's what the youth understand more easily. I'm sorry but the essence of being a sikh, is taking sedh, direction, from gurbani. understanding gurbani, reading gurbani and vichar of gurbani. It is not the same in english, it's no where near as shudh and the true deep meaning sometimes can't be appreciated due to the background of the language. Also bani is written, in original form, in gurmukhi. Guru ji speaks to us through gurmukhi. i believe it's much nicer to understand the language of GURU'S MUKH - a unique language - rather than translating it to understand in another language. I understand for those who's mother is english or whatever and have converted to sikhism, for them translations help greatly and hopefully they can eventually read punjabi and gurmukhi. so my one main plea would be that the sikh youth are taught punjabi and gurmukhi. Also many parcharaks say that in your home only punjabi should be spoken cause kids will learn english at school and elsewhere anyway, which is a pretty good idea. vaheguru ji ka khalsa, vaheguru ji ki fateh
  7. vjkk, vjkf a truly great man, who did amazing seva, an example to us all vjkk, vjkf
  8. what's his name, in the vid. as you say that's beadbi. all those people with jhoote mithe hath, coming up and wiping that stuff OVER gurbani as well as on the edges. Even if they say it's out of 'sharda' and piar, who is anyone to put a tilak on guru ji?
  9. I aint gonna argue. anyway what was the topic - oh yeah, boy found NOT GUILTY in kirpan case
  10. But what were these guys doing going to a show like that in the first place? Clearly they were wearing their kirpan on the outside. yeah that made me laugh. A good thing really, vaheguru was looking out for them, teaching them a lesson - don't go there if you're amritdhari. I

Mėhlā 4. Gur saṯgur kā jo sikẖ akẖā▫e so bẖalke uṯẖ har nām ḏẖi▫āvai. One who calls himself a Sikh of the Guru, the True Guru, shall rise in the early morning hours and meditate on the Lord's Name. Uḏam kare bẖalke parbẖāṯī isnān kare amriṯ sar nāvai. Upon arising early in the morning, he is to bathe, and cleanse himself in the pool of nectar. Upḏes gurū har har jap jāpai sabẖ kilvikẖ pāp ḏokẖ lėh jāvai. Following the Instructions of the Guru, he is to chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. One who meditates on my Lord, Har, Har, with every breath and every morsel of food - that GurSikh becomes pleasing to the Guru's Mind. Jis no ḏa▫i▫āl hovai merā su▫āmī ṯis gursikẖ gurū upḏes suṇāvai. That person, unto whom my Lord and Master is kind and compassionate - upon that GurSikh, the Guru's Teachings are bestowed. Jan Nānak ḏẖūṛ mangai ṯis gursikẖ kī jo āp japai avrah nām japāvai. ||2|| Servant Nanak begs for the dust of the feet of that GurSikh, who himself chants the Naam, and inspires others to chant it. ||2|| okay this bit below: ਉਪਦੇਸਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੁ ਜਾਪੈ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਪਾਪ ਦੋਖ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਵੈ ॥ Upḏes gurū har har jap jāpai sabẖ kilvikẖ pāp ḏokẖ lėh jāvai. Following the Instructions of the Guru, he is to chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. All sins, misdeeds and negativity shall be erased. Fir cẖaṛai ḏivas gurbāṇī gāvai bahḏi▫ā uṯẖ▫ḏi▫ā har nām ḏẖi▫āvai. Then, at the rising of the sun, he is to sing Gurbani; whether sitting down or standing up, he is to meditate on the Lord's Name. quite a few interpretations, as usual 3/4 arth can be made of gurbani, from different points of view etc. some say, after rising early and bathing (previous line) we are to do jaap - simran of vaheguru. Then charai divas - on rising of the sun gurbani gavai, proceed with gurbani. There's a sakhi as well, in suraj prakash i think, an ustaad ji was telling me 9-3 sleep, then 2 or 2 and half hours of simran til 6, followed by nitnem, gurbani. (i think it was a guru amar daas ji sakhi) Also imo the first line there could be interpreted as, after bathing (commas): ਉਪਦੇਸਿ ਗੁਰੂ, ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੁ ਜਾਪੈ, ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਪਾਪ ਦੋਖ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਵੈ ॥ as with guru ji's command, recite 'har har' vaheguru doing jaap(simran)... as with guru ji's command - received from har (akaalpurakh), hari's bani jap (jap ji sahib) should then be recited... anyway, it's generally accepted and practised that 2-6am being amrit vela, and singhs try to complete nitnem by 6am. and the charai divas gurbani gavai, becomes singing of kirtan i.e. aasaa di vaar
  13. They do WICKED kirtan. All week as in mon-fri, or sat and sunday as well? also if someone from the gurdwara could get in touch with like amritbani radio and ask for it to be broadcast (we blagged sant baba ranjit singh's program for free, but otherwise i think they charge 100 quid an hour) try and blag it and do it on a mobile. if someone's got free mins, call up the radio and sit with the phone near the front. say there's v.high demand and amritbani don't need to take any equipment down, just take a call (which might make them some money, dunno) it should work
  14. Figuratively you can say whatever, you can have khalistan in your own house. But imo it has to be a nation where the 'pure' the khalsa lives. Goverened by sikhi rehat and rules. At the moment you can say we have that in Akal takht and therefore khalistan is whereever the khalsa is - But that is not a nation, as i said that's figurative and can be applied to a household. The law would be to wake up at amrit vela, or at least most people across the land would wake up at one amrit vela and create a MASS gathering of sangat in every city. The schools would have compulsory gurbani, kirtan and rehat lessons. Wear bana all the time (if possible, unless you're ina nuclear power plant etc lol ) and other such things. A nation which would be a beacon for peace and justice and show the way to the world, or at least set an example. BUT - there will always be deviants in society and being sikhs, we will probably have to fight off evil a lot of the time cause they can't stand good. Thinking about it, unless justice is reached in terms of giving us punjab (or a part of it) - I can't see a nation being created without a war of sorts - i'm very sorry to say.
  15. You have mentioned in the saakhi that the mud is in the water, but it is not seen by the naked eye. When it disturbed, we can actually see the mud. I understand the message about keeping our mind calm and it will settle down eventually. I'm just imagining in the mind; mud in a lake. So, for instance: 'A person has a lot of distractions and problems in their life (which is the mud). It is lowered by remaining calm.' My question is how can this person destroy, eliminate, resolve all the distractions and problems for good? How can all the mud be cleared? so when it is disturbed, there will be no distractions......no place for the mud mixing with the water Bhul chuk maaf With the right kind of ignorance If you can get out of the social 'responsibilities' of life, maybe stay at a dera or with a sant etc. will make it easier. The main thing is to 'give your head to the guru' as they say. There will be no worries once you understand the hukam (second pauree of jap ji sahib) you really have to like, naam vich bhijna painda hai. Understand gurbani and updesh and hope that guru ji will do kirpa so that you can be more understanding. i think, i'm surprised at myself usually i end up writing an essay lol
  16. vaheguru ji ka khalsa, vaheguru ji ki fateh. that's REALLY good :D
  17. http://s204.photobuc..._left/?newest=1 300 salla nagar kirtan, just remember to upload vids - not v.good amateur camera work using mobile lol all filmed on phone, looks better in slightly smaller screen when you bring up pop up 'full screen' hover over title to see full title dunno why the sound echoes when viewing from that site, but there it is... and i filmed some vids inside harmandir sahib - i deleted a few, got a few left. Do you think i should delete them cause you're not allowed to film in there and stuff? none of them are uploaded on internet
