  1. Anyone know when the future Nishkam Secondary school will be built in Brentford?
  2. The DDT Maryada was established before Dhumma was born.
  3. Without having access to the Punjabi version, and I might be wrong but I believe this means sitting on the tabiya only, not in Sangat where Maharaj is parkash.
  4. What I believe he is saying is not that women themselves are 'apavitar' but the body is during the time of menstruation, from a hygiene perspective. He cited an analogy of someone suffering from piles and bleeding saying a person suffering with this ailment should also refrain from performing seva of Guru Sahib. Most bibian as far as I know do not perform Rol during the menstrual cycle, whether this changes going forward or has already, I cannot say. Obviously, this monthly cycle is not a disease or condition and with the advent of better materials, is contained I'm sure far better than in the past. Damdami Taksal Maryada briefly mentions: A floor covering of animal dung, clay and hay (as is common in India) is never to be used where Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee is to reside. Nor should it be placed in a room where the floor coverings have been made of these sorts of materials. Amritdharee women are not to go to ‘Theean’ – a ladies festival which is held on each Sunday of the Bikrami month of Savan and they are not to clap/dance, do Gidda etc (performing seva on a monthly basis is merely superstition and not due to respect of the Guru). Women should not sit in the Guru’s Hazoori or do Chaur Sahib when they are menstruating. There is no mention of them being unable to visit the Gurdwara during this time.
  5. Hasn't this topic been done to death on this forum and on several others previously :blink2:. Sachiaar Sikhs know in their hearts through Guru Sahib and history what the true path is, until this stage is reached this argument along with many other faaltoo ones are never going to be resolved. Lets not quibble over the Rehat as it stands.
  6. Depends on ones definition of wise or gyaan. Gurukirpa my family was into Sikhi from when I was born incl 2 generations up the chain and what I was taught I can never payback. Nonetheless, most Punjabi elders are wise in that they have life experience and rarely do they pass on values to the detriment of their own kith & kin. I have some relatives as described but I would not summarily dismiss them or the keemti values they pass on to me - despite how karma dealt them their current existence. If one is well read and holds an excellent command of languages, has travelled widely or memorised even large amounts of Gurbani does not necessarily make the person wise and worthy of respect of us or Parmatma. From a Sikhi angle 'Tat' Gyaan and increasing spirituality is more important than just gyaan. Otherwise one ends up in a situation as described in Asa Di Vaar. Parh parh gaddi laldiai, parh parh bhariai saath Parh parh beri payeeai, parh parh gadiai khaat. Parihia jetai baras baraas, parhiai jetai maas. Parhiai jeti arja, parhiai jetai sass. 7. Whilst I appreciate your feedback, had you read the title correctly and not jumped to conclusions that I had twisted Gurbani we would not be having this discussion. It was a simple light hearted analogy!
  8. Difference being Monkeys are more intelligent. :excited:
  9. This is a prime situation where troublemakers need to be ejected from the Gurdwara at the first sign of trouble. To achieve this objective, was easier in olden times where the Khalsa was free to legislate themselves internally. This situation called for a good thrashing of the offenders (just for causing a ruckus in the darbar) and Singhs of old were well equipped skill wise to carry out this task. With the advent of video evidence and Laws that we also have to abide by, this is no longer possible.
  10. Just seen the first couple of minutes after 16:48 and the way the first guy gets up and stops the dhadhi Singh is bang out of order, even if one does not agree with anothers viewpoint they should be addressed respectfully. The people challenging are devoid of basic etiquette taught in Punjabi homes of how to speak to elders!!
  11. Distorted? The tuk clearly explains only with effort 'masakat' or in simpler Punjabi (mehnat), that person who has meditated on naam reaches the stage where his/her face shines bright and not only they but people in their company are liberated (azad). The analogy being there are no 'shortcuts' in Sikhi. Ghalana kar ke, naam japke jeevan bandhanaa ton shad sakdha hai, aka success!
  12. All Bhagats received Gurmukh naam as per 2॥ Now just because Guru Ji was not in physical form it did not mean they were not around to deliver salvation to these pure souls. To believe that a non Gursikh can have bani daraj in Guru Granth Sahib is frankly preposterous. Without Satguru - not just any Guru, pir, devta etc, Gurbani is clear no one can attain salvation.
  13. With 3 Granths Parkash I would expect Guru Granth Sahib ji to be in the middle and the palang/palki higher than for Dasam Granth Sahib and Sarbloh Granth Sahib. Historically, I know Guru Granth Sahib and Dasam Granth were sometimes parkashed together, dunno about Sarbloh Granth. Here is a image of Maharaja Ranjit Singh listening to the two sacred Granths being recited near Sri Harimandir Sahib. It is from a painting by August Theodore Schoefft (1809-1888), made in Amritsar, from Princess Bamba Collection. It shows clearly that two granths, Guru Granth Sahib Ji and Dasam Granth Ji we parkashed (reverently opened) next to each other back in the eighteen hundreds.
  14. Fact remains and Gurbani attests to this, there is no Sangat like that of Gursikhs. Not saying don't take good from others but no one comes close to true Gursikh saathis who aid in crossing bhavjal saagar, facilitate simran, keep ego in check and where we can speak openly about dhils to make one stronger. Now in this context, who else other than company of Satsangat is capable of this feat? No one. satsangat asthaan jagmag noor hai lakh lakh sasiar bhaan kiran tharoor hai Satsangati kaisee jaaneeai. Jithai eko naamu vakhaaneeai. Eko naamu hukamu hai Nanak satiguri deeaa bujhaai jeeou
  15. Unlikely Sant Ji would use powers in this way, especially since they were not afraid to court arrest and were imprisoned a few years prior to the attack. That's not to say they were not capable of what occurred, ridhian sidhian for someone performing upwards of 125 Japji Sahib's daily in addition to standard Nitnem come easily. On the whole pakkey Gursikhs keep in bhana of Vaheguru and rarely show shakitan as they can be lost in the blink of an eye if used to inflate ego. iriD isiD nvinD hir jip ijnHI Awqmu jIqw] rwgu ibhwgVw, mhlw 5, pMnw 543 Bwv:- ijnHW mnu`KW ny prmwqmw dw nwm jp ky Awpxy mn nUM vs kr ilAw, sB krwmwqI qwkqW qy dunIAW dy nO hI Kzwny auhnW nUM iml jWdy hn[ sRI gurU gRMQ swihb drpn, poQI 4, pMnw 258-9 iriD isiD buiD igAwn gurU qy pwieAw mukiq pdwrQ srix pieAw]11] rwmklI, m: 1, pM: 906-7 Bwv:- gurU dI srx ipAW prmwqmw dw nwm-pdwrQ imldw hY ijs ivc sB krwmwqW hn; buD igAwn hY Aqy moh mwieAw qoN mukqI pRwpq huMdI hY[ sRI gurU gRMQ swihb drpn, poQI 6, pMnw 600-4
  16. The following videos are great for youth who are not aware of the history and lead up to the events of the attacks in June and November.
  17. Bhagwant Ji will never cower in front of the likes of Dhumma or other sell outs who are remote controlled by the Badal 'Die Nasty'.
  18. If this is true, its simply amazing great news for the Panth and we are the dust of his feet.
  19. Line (s) from Gurbani.
  20. *edited*. Gursevak.com have already produced an app with all the bisraams (colour coded) in place for entire Guru Granth Sahib, Nitnem and Sundar Gutka Sahib Banis. I have another taksal app from playstore with the same. Ones I use at present, first one by Darshan Singh and the second by Bhagat Baba Ji (Daudhar Vale). I urge everyone to download these, so simple to use, errors can be reported by contacting the sevadaars - there are more in the second app I find. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.damdamitaksal.sundargutka&hl=en_GB https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gurbani.unlimited&hl=en_GB
