  3. Wjkk Wjkf ! Thats really nice Singhson veer ji, good job! Fateh ji PS: 'Tera' ji, A humble benti ji - when are you going to respond to people who have posted here? Have you liked anything yet? if you have already sorted out the logo and icon then please do let us know so we stop working on any other ideas on the drawing board, thanks! Fateh
  4. Wjkk Wjkf Ji Here is one more before I sleep! Fateh ji!
  5. just another draft, borrowed a bit from G5_Media ji
  6. Wjkk Wjkf Ji IMHO, it doesnt really matter if someone converts to islam or whatever other religion (except sikhs!), its their own personal choice end of the day. If he finds peace within sanctuary of islam, then its all good! Bhull Chukk Maaf ji
  7. Wjkk Wjkf Ji :goodpost: Harjeet.Singh ji just going to add to what you said about people fighting over 'whos' God is better n all. Couple of years back when I was staying in uni halls of residences, I had 3 pakistani muslims staying in the same corridor, we would get along fine, but as you said, the whole indirect slandering started soon. So, I made them sit and explained tukks from Jaap Sahib, and showed them how Guruji praises The One with different names, the persian (i believe) verses struck a chord with one of them at least and realised, in part at least, that its the same God both of us praising. Others, unfortunately, thought Im a Kuffar believing in 'distorted' version of islam n all. But I felt glad with Guruji's kirpa on me I could change someones thinking! Hope rest of humanity realises this as well so that earth can be a better place to live for all! Bhull Chukk Maaf ji
  8. Wjkk Wjkf ji I really want to switch from guitar to dilruba, but im a poor student, cant afford, even though its not 'expensive', sorry! good luck veer ji! Fateh
  9. Wjkk Wkf Veer ji If we are talking about the same person, it is Prof. darshan singh raagi, he is the former jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib, now hell bent on slandering dasam granth and nitnem banis as well. Where is the event taking place if I may ask? See if you can get him to explain why he is creating divisions in panth! Whats happened to him? he used to be such a gursikh and now!
  10. Wjkk Wjkf Veer ji Yeah, the site seems to be overloaded i think. Anyway, heres the links: http://gurmatveechar.org/audio/Gurbani_Uch....Maah.Maajh.mp3 http://gurmatveechar.org/audio/Gurbani_Uch...aah.Tukhari.mp3 Fateh!
  11. Wjkk wjkf ji Can you describe a bit more as to what kind of logo you want veer ji? I might be able to do something with GurujiLs kirpa but I hardly know the history/philosophy/personality of the site and the application. The information provided above is not doing much for me I'm afraid. Do you want it to be minimalistic eg. Trext based or you would rather have a colourful one with graphics n all what colour scheme you have in mind? Coz obviously the logo has to gel with rest of the site so you would want something similar to the existing theme? And, the icon you want for iphone app, does it have to be the same reduced version of the logo ? If you could answewr these questions, I can sit down and brainstorm a little bit and show you some drafts? Fateh ji
  12. Wjkk Wjkf Ji If you are looking for excellent quality (as in pronounciation wise) i seriously suggest bhai jarnail singh damdami taksal wale, you can find barah maha in the beant banis folder at gurbaniupdesh.org sachi sunny ji, the way he pronounces bani is breathtaking! I wish i could do path like that! Fateh ji!
  13. Wjkk Wjkf Veer ji santsevak ji has summed it all nicely so i wont repeat all that. About Usefulness, it depends on what you want to use it for veer ji. Anybody who uses the computer to browse net, do word processing, listen to music, synch ipods with comp, etc. ubuntu (kubuntu/ubuntu/edubuntu/any flavour) will do the job nicely just out of the box. The graphic interface has improved tremendously in recent years to a point where it rivals windows. There is a software on ubuntu called compiz, which handles all the fancy menu/window animations and transition effects, better than vista imho. You dont need to worry about learning all that because it works straight out of the box. If you are a gamer/graphics designer, then you MIGHT find ubuntu a bit lacking in features. GIMP isnt as good as photoshop (i know people would love to argue otherwise but lets face it - Adobe is charging money for a reason and the work they have put in photoshop/illustrator is amazing) and there is lesser support for windows based games on linux, although you can run a few with Wine (thats a software that allows you to run windows based .exe in ubuntu). Speaking of wine, its really helpful but again, a hardcore would not be too happy with ubuntu. What you can do, however, have linux on one partition of your drive and ubuntu/kubuntu on another, that way you can have the choice of booting into whichever operating system you wish to use, depending upon mood n all. You may find you use linux more than windows, its really addictive, plus the joy that you get of configuring something on your own and making things 'work' is a nice hobby in itself! If you arr not familiar with linux, i would suggest you read a little bit about the commands, just the basic ones so you feel comfortable with the terminal, because although you can get away with not touching the terminal at all, there ARE going to be instances where you would have to go to terminal. Its really easy, you will pick up really fast trust me just basic commands like wget, apt and all will make your life much more easier, and ubuntu much more fun to use! msg me if you need any sort of assistance with this and id be more than glad to help you start with it About the choice of environment (just read santsevak ji's post again for details), its a matter of preference really. People are divided between gnome and kde, with both sides trying to prove they have got better UI i personally enjoy gnome, that comes with ubuntu, although i do have kde and fluxbox (thats ANOTHER environment) installed and i switch between these depending upon my mood hehe Dont worry, it is really easy to install multiple environments in any flavour of ubuntu, you should checkout http://www.ubuntuforums.org its got loads and loads of material to get you running and assist you with anything you get stuck with. Also, you can hop in irc.freenode.net #ubuntu for further many to one help hehe oh and thats the server where punjabi translation team sits as well, so come and say hello to alamwalia and ahem, me! :D its at #punjab and #punjabi Good luck and as i said, feel free to be in touch!! Fateh ji !
  14. Wjkk Wjkf ji Loved it, esp the last line - Let us smile at God, love Him and claim Him, for He is all-where only for us, unconditionally for us. Waheguru!
  15. Wjkk Wjkf ji Haanji veer ji, it was a big project that was broken into chunks at launchpad.net, the translations can be seen (and edited) there. Alamwalia, Phulewala and few others contributed their time and effort for the translation, and with Guruji's kirpa daas is a member of the team too and had the chance to do a part of GNOME translations. Im glad at least someone is trying the punjabi version out! Good luck veer ji! Fateh!
  16. Wjkk Wjkf ji Its timing out on me as well :S
  17. Wjkk Wjkf Excellent post Talikhaak. Could you provide a link where I can read the gurmukhi version of this shabd? or just paste it here? Fateh ji!
  18. Wjkk Wjkf Ji Heres my modest contribution fateh ji!
  19. Wjkk Wjkf ji thanks for this veer ji, some nostalgic pictures there! just gone through the pics, notice how sikhi is kept intact by majority of the sikhs! :D Its soooooo nice to see it playing a major part in daily affairs. Now I wish we never got 'modernised'! :S
  20. just go to : http://www.bnpmemberslist.co.uk/ for the list!
  21. Wjkk Wjkf ji Now that I have time to think about it a bit more deeply, its both funny and sad at the same time. Some Indians will go to any length to loot anyone they feel can be targetted, be it financially, emotionally or physically. What the rest of the world doesnt know is India is actually a 'continent' with several different 'countries' that differ from each other sooo much, i hope you understand what i am trying to say here. These people are going to go back home thinking all 'indians' are the same, they think alike, they act in the same way, etc. Thats where stereotyping kicks in and breaking them becomes such a challenge! I hope such crooks stop bringing bad name to our 'country'. Sorry for not explaining properly, ive come back from uni, really tired lol Fateh ji
