  1. What is "Shaheedi Jaap"? Where can I learn more about it? Better yet, where can I download it? Regards, K.
  2. It's really sad when people ignore what is happening to Gurdwaras across Pakistan to make some inane wishy-washy politically correct post about how "we are all one". It's odd that so many people here believe that this precludes protecting ourselves first rather than allowing others to destroy us, because to defend ourselves and Sikh interests might hurt someone's feelings which would not be in line with their interpretation of "sarbat da bhalla". And there were hundreds of thousands more examples of Muslim soldiers in the times of our Gurus who were just as bloodthirsty and hate-filled towards Sikhs as their current Muslim incarnations in Pakistan and beyond, but I guess we should pretend that they don't exist and hope that they leave us alone. God Bless K.
  3. ਅੰਧਲੀ which has here been translated as "blind" also means agyani, without wisdom; ਬੇਪੀਰਿ, translated as "unguided", means nigura, one without a guru or spiritual preceptor. Though Bhagat Kabir Ji is addressing his wife directly in this passage, in a wider context he is indirectly addressing all of us who are blind and unguided and married to Maya (illusion), the wife that Kabir Ji mentions a little later on in that composition. (That Kabir Ji calls Maya the wife of the world is indicative of how close we are attached to illusion, it shouldn't be read as some form of criticism of women.) K.

  5. MODS: If at some point you delete this thread, can you please ensure that the translations provided by NeoSingh are kept visible on this site? Ta, K.
  6. Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale was made by Akal Purakh Waheguru from pure sarbloh and bir ras. His father was Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, and his mother was Mata Sahib Devan Ji. Indra Gandhi, on the other hand, was created as a result of dripping water on a mogwai and feeding the resulting creature after midnight. Not even her mother knew who her father was. K.

    Advice

You don't sound nuts at all, but what you describe is a pretty common story of OCD. If you haven't done so already, I'd get a simple book on OCD and read it so that you understand how the obsessive-compulsive mindset works. Are you receiving any kind of treatment - therapy, medication, etc? You've already made it clear in your post that 1) You have no conscious desire to remove hair, and that 2) you are Amritdhari so know that you would never remove your hair on purpose. For these reasons, you have no need to get pesh for whatever hair is removed (or falls out) accidentally. K.
  9. He is not much of a threat - the man can't even buy a suit that fits. The only lunatics who would put any faith in something said by a man with such terrible dress sense are already mad hate-filled Muslims. Allah says his clothes lack colour coordination. See surah 6, verse 6, line 6. K.
  10. You would have to go to the Udasi dera in India and ask permission to see it. Kam1825 said that he would try and get it. It is written in Sanskrit and Hindi anyway, so you would have to be able to read Devanagari characters to understand the granth. K.
  11. See Kam1825's blog here for more info about Nanak Gita. Read the comments by Kam also for answers to your questions: http://sikhscriptures2english.blogspot.com/2010/05/sri-nanak-parkash-post-077.html#comments K.
  12. It can be found here on Jvala SIngh's site: http://sikh-reality.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html Regards, K.
  13. Did any of you actually follow Jvala Singh's advice and listen to Giani Inderjit Singh's katha on Bhagauti Astotar? We wouldn't be having this discussion if everyone here had listened to it and understood the relationship between Akal Purakh's Shakti and how both Durga and the Khanda are different roops of this Shakti. K.
  14. I think Giani Thakur Singh has spoken about Gurbani in written form disappearing due to beadbi. But Gurbani is naad from Akal - it is eternal and doesn't disappear. Ugardanti also says: Japo jap ekay haray har Akalung. Hayv tab duniya sab chinak mein nihalung. Everyone will worship only the one Akal. The entire world will be immediately blissful. K.
  15. Yes, it comes from Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji in Ugardanti Bani: Mittay Ved Shastar Atharan Purana Mittay Baang Salwaat Sunnat Kuranan ( Ugardanti Chakka 5, lines 17-20 ) The Vedas, the Shastar and the Puranas will all disappear ( or be destroyed ). The Muslim call to prayer, circumcision and Korans will also disappear ( or be destroyed ) Sagal Jagat mein Khalsa Panth Gaajai Jaggai Dharam Hindu Turkan Sakal Dand Bhaajai ( Ugardanti chakka 1, lines 39-40 ) The Khalsa will be supreme in the entire world, and the Hindu and Turak religions will be destroyed in this world. Regards, K.
  16. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Gobind Gita can now be found on scribd here: http://www.scribd.com/doc/31560652/Gobind-Gita Regards, K.
  17. I put it on scribd here: http://www.scribd.com/doc/31560652/Gobind-Gita Enjoy, K.
  18. It's a rewriting of the Bhagawad Gita by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. There is another version of 100 lines written by Guru Ji in the roop of Guru Nanak Dev Ji which distills the essence of the Gita. It's kept by the Udasi samprada. If I find a copy, I will upload it on scribd and let this forum know. Regards, K.
  19. LOL, it sounds like something some benefit-claiming sullah doing "da'wah" would say. I guess Judeo-Christian God doesn't believe in equality either since all of his prophets were men. Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur did not have a standing army. He was martyred by the Muslim Mughals who invaded India while Dasmesh Pita was young. The Khalsa was created by Akal Purakh to destroy the tyrannical rule of the Muslims. The next time someone makes outrageous claims like that, simply ask them for the evidence of their claims so that you can consider and refute their claims. I guarantee that they will have no evidence beyond something that some illiterate paan-smuggling henna-stained-bearded inbred mullah from some thirld world country has told them. K.
  20. "We blow something up." "What we gonna blow up, Raj?" "... the internet!" "What?" LOL K.
  21. Veer ji, this isn't correct. The truth is as pjs veer has stated it - the Chandi that is praised in Dasam bani is the Shakti of Akaal Purakh Waheguru. The Devi of Hinduism is just one of many forms of this Shakti that Waheguru manifests to destroy adharam. You are the destroyer of all and you are the Divine light of the Lord prevailing in the universe. Victory is yours presently and will forever remain. This becomes apparent if you read the whole of Ugardant Bani and not just the first few lines. Here the Devi of Hinduism is praised as a from of Shakti: ਨਮੋ ਕਾਲਕਾ ਕਾਲ ਰੂਪੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨੀ ॥ ਨਮੋ ਸੁੰਭ ਨਿਸੁੰਭ ਨਾਸਨਿ ਭਵਾਨੀ ॥ Salutation to the Glodly Eternal Power Bhavani, who adornes a sharp sword. Salutation to the destroy of Sumbh and Nishumb. Salutation to the killer of Channd and Mundd. Salutations to the destroyer of evil demons like Rakat Beej. But then this Shakti is praised in the following way: ਤੁਹੀ ਥੰਭ ਸਿਉਂ ਨਿਕਸ ਨਰਸਿੰਘ ਹੋਈ ॥ ਉਦਰ ਹਰਨਾਖਸ ਕਾ ਨਖਹੁ ਕਰ ਪਰੋਈ You transformed into Narsingh and manifested from the pillar. With your nails you tore open the belly of Harnaksh. You manifested as a turtle [Kach avatar] and are the creator of Madh and Keetab demons. You manifested as a boar [Varha Avatar] and killed Harankashyap. You manifested as Bawan the dwarf and performed a great act of deception. And banished Raja Bal to the nether world. You manifested as Parsuram in this world. And destroyed innumerable Khsatriyas [warrior clan]. You again were born as Lord Rama. And destroyed Ravana the demon King of Lanka. In Hindu legend, these were incarnations of Vishnu. What is clearly being praised is the power beyond the power of these individual devatay, which is the power of Akal Purakh. Regards, K.
  22. She needs professional help if her depression is as bad as you describe. Encourage her to speak to her GP who should be able to put her in contact with a counsellor or therapist. At some point she, or you on her behalf if things get bad, is going to have to explain the situation to her parents so that she has the support of her family. Give her the contact details for the Samaritans also if you feel she is seriously considering suicide. She can call them at any time of the day or night. It's great that you are helping her, but dealing with mental illness often requires professionals, and it can take its toll on those who are personally involved with someone with mental illness, so make sure that you are taking care of yourself also - eat healthily, exercise regularly, and do as much Sukhmani Sahibs as you can. K.

    Me?!

Heavy squats and deadlift on a regular basis. THat way, even if you are still under the influence of kaam, you'll be too tired to do anything about it. :-D Sexual energy is still just energy (it comes naturally as an effect of regular exercise and increased testosterone and bloodflow), and it something you should be channeling into your workouts. K.
  24. Few people adhere to Sikhi 100%, but we all try to obtain that goal. It's OK to take babysteps, not everyone can jump right into the deep end. For example, many Singhs I know kept full rehat (including 5Ks) as preparation before taking Amrit. I believe it's fine to wear a kara as a staring point as long as you don't do beadbi of it (i.e., don't drink or smoke if you wear it). General kachhera rehat is that it should be knee length and should have a nala. Boxers definitely do not count. Keep asking questiobns, veer ji, and keep learning. K.

    Marrage Day

Sants choose to live the lifestyle of a behangam saadhu, most Sikhs follow the grisht jeevan way. I think it's important not to confuse the two because the way that a Sant controls kaam (through celibacy and self-denial) does not fit in with the way that a marriage works. In gristh jeevan, the way that kaam is controlled is with one's spouse and one's spouse alone. Personally, I believe that it is entirely up to the couple how they choose to channel their sexual desires, and I believe it's wrong not to take into consideration the sexual needs of your spouse and thus risk the breaking up of your marriage. If both of you have high avastha and decide that sex is only for procreation, that's fine; if you find that you need an active sex life with your spouse to help control kaam and prevent adultery (remember, that even the thought of another's spouse is adultery), then that is fine also. From a purely psychological point of view, sexual repression and the mental turmoil that results is going to be much more of an obstacle to spiritual pursuits than treating sex with one's spouse as a natural and healthy occurence. However, if you suffer from guilt after having sex, then that is just as much of an obstacle. It's an important topic that needs to be discussed with your spouse in an open and guilt-free manner so that you both understand one's needs. I don't think one should take advice about such a personal topic from anyone unless it is from your Panj. That is my opinion only, your mileage may vary. K.
