  1. There you go, now Humkire veerji just explained you pretty well why are you loved and why everyone of us is loved and why we love others. Jin prem kiyo tin hee prabh paiyo. and as far as I understand, guru jee is not talking about love to GOD only, Guru jee is talking about loving God's creation as well, as GOD does reside within the creation. And all of us, are his creation. Its part of being humble I guess when we say we are papi. And many times, we will say it but don't really mean it as if someone else says "You are papi" we jump like a hungry lion. And thats the test of our ego and we fail.
  2. Lol, im nothing to love... I'm a paapi Even though as far as I know pjs veerji loves everybody, but specifically in this post, he meant for humkire veerji. And you cann't force love on others, its others who feel love for you and you cann't stop it either. Yes, our actions do impact the expression of love. And you wanting to have muchhan, daRhi when you are still young, makes you cute and loveable as well.
  3. Bhenji, that indeed is a noble cause/thought to do. My suggestion would be to talk to couple of more people and ask them to volunteer to teach. Buy some basic, (you can start from Guru Nanak Dev jee's childhood stories) sikhi related books. The ones we use at our gurudwara are from Hemkunt press in English ( I am assuming you are in some western country without any khalsa school setting in any of gurughars close to you. Have it going at your local gurughar while deevan is going on. At that time, most of the kids jump around anyways. parents would be happy to see their kids occupied when they can listen to keertan. YOu are missing on lot of details. When I am writing above, I am assuming you have gurughar in that area, where you wanna have gurmat/khalsa school for kids. But in case, there is not a gurughar there, then get together at someone's house/basement etc. on one of the weekdays and occupy kids for couple of hours covering some basic punjabi lessons and some sikh history related material and possibly have harmonium tabla with you to have them started on learning keertan. YOu can start with one subject at a time while you get bigger no. of kids to deal with. I teach Punjabi at our local gurughar that I go to. We have around 60 kids coming there every sunday for learning punjabi, sikh history and keertan. Its going pretty good. I have a thought going on in my mind to someday go to another gurughar in the area and have it started there as well. I know some families from that area and I know they used to have school before but it didn't work. For past few weeks I have been wanting to talk to managment of that gurughar and see what they think about it. They do have space issue, so I wouldn't be able to do it on Sunday while regular sunday program is going on. I would have to do it on friday/sat eve. Last year, I kept the school going even in summer with only little kids (I used to get about 10 kids in class in summer only and then in sept. regular khalsa school started anyways) at the local gurughar I go to and teach punjabi. And when eventually you make your mind and couple of people volunteer to help you out, then do ardas and BABA ji will keep things rolling for you. IF sikh has good intentions in mind then babaji always helps and let things go without vighan/interruption (its my belief).
  4. when I had lot of free time in past, no kids, no job, no man to boss me around :-)) no house to clean, and I used to sit with my head in my books with loose hair on sundays, I used to split whole hair in two holding from bottom. Now, since took amrit, my hair are always tied on the back in jooRa form. even when I wash them, I am busy feeding the family. So never even paid attention that I even have any split ends. Even if I do, why we need to get bothered by split ends, when we can exercise on some treadmill and build up some muscle strength with some weight lifting in that time or pick up Gutka sahib and do some naam dee kamaai. Don't you think?? I mean, there are better things in life to worry about than finding a magic formula to stop the split ends.
  5. Veerji, the sookhasham ego gets pumped up by these comments, so help to shut it up, don't give it room to grow, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease. The only thing which scares me most is Ego (haumai), it looks for ways to enter into a person in billion ways.
  6. Chhuddo Veerji, Sudoku can make your brain few years younger, but SIMRAN is doing much much more than any type of memory games could ever do.
  7. No, we stop after a while, after we said what had to be said :-)) we move on to new topics, new questions to be answered etc. etc. You sit back and do all that giyan collection stuff. But have a thing in your mind that God exists and SIKHI would help you see it. You know how I satisfy my doubts. If ever I doubt anything in gurbani, I ask my self "Am I more learned than GURU SAHIB?" And answer always comes from within me " NO WAY". Thats it, thats all I need to know.
  8. Hanji Veerji, First of all, I have couple of problems with your thinking or atleast the way your are expressing. Can you prove piyar (love)?? Can you prove anger? Can you prove hatred? or basically all the feelings we get, can you show those to me. You cann't put on a plate and show that here it is the anger. The way you feel is by the actions you take when you are in love, or angry or hating someone. Isn't it? So similarly, when you have faith in Vaheguru, and you believe there is GOD, you take actions. Those actions are that, your behaviour towards the life, the universe, the happenings in your life changes. you just live totally different than you lived so far. And now whats SIKHI?? SIKHI is a way of life. SGGSji shows us how to live. Gurus and their millions devotees lived SIKHI. As above poster said, don't try to find sikhi in politicians. They are leaders only. have you ever heard, JEEVAN or KAMAI words?? politicians don't have it, so you won't find them as good role models. You wanna have a role model then read more and more about Gurus' jeevans. Listen to some kathas. Listen to katha on Nitnem banis or even better start listening katha of whole Guru Granth Sahib jee (I yet have to start that). Go to Gurughar every sunday or even everyday if possible for you. Listen the whole keertan carefully. Note down the shabads ragi singh read and ang no. for hukamnama that day. Come home, go to sikhitothemax.com and read meanings. Somethings won't be clear from that either. That's why listening to katha helps. More and more you listen katha, more understanding of Gurbani automatically starts to come to you. The SANTS are sent on this earth to clear up our doubts. For person like you and me, we don't understand Gurbani that easily. The meanings of a single word in Gurbani says so much that just simply reading one word explanation of one Gurbani word is not enough for us. Thats why I find it very useful to listen to good Kathakars. Just to hint you in some direction, I am listening to Sant Varyam Singh jee and Bhai Pinderpal Singh jee in these days. There are lot of sites to get kathas downloaded from. gurmatveechar.com, sikhee.com, gurbaniupdesh.com to name a few. Rightly said above, stop looking for sikhi in other people. Become the example of SIKHI yourself. If you dedicate some time everyday to just learn meanings of even one ang of SGGSji, you will know whole Sri Guru Granth Sahib jee in 1430 days. You will come back here and teaching us, what SIKHI is. So don't loose hope and don't get frustrated yourself. As kid has to learn him/herself how to suck milk from mother to satify his/her stomach hunger, similarly, we have to do efforts ourselves to satisfy the hunger of our soul. baba jee kirpa karn. Gur Fateh.
  9. tuhanu nahi jaroorat. Dimaag tarak paida karda, Gursikhan nu tarak vich jaan dee jaroorat nahi hundi. Tusin taan bas sharda de sahare bhavjal paar kar jaonge :-)) aapn koi dimaaga.n de bheR thoRo shuru karne aa. I am being more and more forgetfull, thats why I do it. And I amnot so good at it either. still getting my hands on easy ones. chardi kala chon raho, khush raho. babe daa naam japde raho, tusin kee laiNa sudoku ton.
  10. NO way :-)) Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhheguruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu :-)) that tested fefre pretty well too. waise tuhade fefre checking suggestion ajmauN layee tuhanu koi hor forum nahi labhiyaa?? Sikhsangat is supposed to be talking about SIKHI and sikhi related issues. I don't see the relavance here. so piyare nikke veerjeeo(becasue I don't expect some one older than me, giving this suggestion). Koi naam dee kamai karlo, kise nu koi waheguru japva lavo, koi Chaupai sahib de path karwa lao. koi "jao tao prem khelaN ka chao" shabad nu poore joran shoran naal read karva lao. socho thoRa jiha. time pass nahi ho riha, then there are plenty of sites to kill time on, or if believe in any learning then plenty of good books or forums there are, or if nothing interests you, then SUDOku game hee khed layo, ghoto ghut thoRa dimaag dee exercise hee ho jaaoo :-)) over and out.
  11. So in these days, I am listening to katha by Sant Variyam Singh jee, got mp3 cd from somewhere. So playing in car during my average hour drive here and there daily. It will take me a while to finish listening it, but thats all right. Slow dose of wisdom is probably better than nothing or overload :-)) So Sant jee is talking about the Gurbani tuk that if you meditate on waheguru for just a second from your heart fully concentrated on vaheguru, you could get the giyan even if you are Chandal (I guess whose business is to kill people, whose earnings come from that, seems pretty much to me, like jalaad). So this chandal somehow ends up in the sangat of Sadh. And Sadh says you could have giyaan if you focus on Waheguru even for a second. And chandal wonders even if he killed people his whole life. And then I went thinking that there are tons of us, who think/say, why not wait to do meditation/bhagti of God/picking up of Gutka/reciting some banis/going to Gurughar until we retire and have nothing to do. Why waste time sitting now to do path, while we can be enjoy parties, clubbing, shopping, watching movies and tons of other stuff that average person like to do?? We can do all that now and towards the old age, meditate on GOD and we will be all good to go to Dharam Rai's court, or may be won't even have to go there, as we will be able to meditate on waheguru towards the end. So all our gunah, paap will be forgiven. Think about it. So then I think little more and reached to conclusion that why run around for finding happiness in those shopping, watching movies, etc. etc. while I can achieve real happiness from within. That real happiness can come from meditating on GOD now, by establishing that connection between my soul and vaheguru within me now. Why wait to get it until I am old retired buDhi :-)) what insaan/human wants in life anyways?? HAPPINESS, isn't it? Satisfaction which gives us happiness? contentment? avashtha of being in bliss? properties, kids, degrees, health all for our eshoaram, to keep us happy?? day night, we worry about properties, kids, degrees, health, status etc. but if we meditate on waheguru, establish that connection between us and waheguru jee within us, that bhatkana will end. So my conclusion came (Which Gurbani says over and over) that we need to stay attuned with waheguru 24/7 (I know, very hard), all our worries, problems etc. will get taken care of. Leave it upto the waheguru, have 100% faith. and all of a sudden we will feel that we are weightless, can just float, with time. Now talking about time, something else came in mind that I was discussing with my 9 year old. we were talking about not wasting the resources, water, paper etc. and point came out that everything can be created again if lost once, and water actuall circulates too. But there is something else, which if lost, never comes back. You probably guessed it right. Its TIME. And we lost so much of it in worrying, running around, supposedly having fun while doing variety of stupid things (which actually fire back at us and give us dukh instead of sukh). So lets not waste it, and start establishing the connection with the waheguru within us. Makes sense??
  12. I would have said what you asked for, to show you dam in my fefRe, if you would have asked to say "Vahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeguru"""""""""
  13. Exactly. I was listening to Bhai Pinderpal singh's katha on Gursikh kee hai's first part yesterday (you can download or listen from Gurmatveechar under katha section). he is quoting bhai Gurdas jee's vaar This Shabad is by Bhai Gurdaas Ji in Vaars Bhai Gurdaas on Pannaa 28 DrqI pYrW hyiT hY DrqI hyiT vsMdw pwxI] dhharathee pairaa(n) haet(h) hai dhharathee haet(h) vasa(n)dhaa paanee|| The earth is under our fee but under the earth is water. pwxI clY nIvwx no inrmlu sIqlu suDu prwxI] paanee chalai neevaan no niramal seethal sudhh paraanee|| Water flows downward and makes others cool and clean. The above lines show nimrata/greebee/humility of the water. He explained it like this that earth/ground is below all of us (the sky/mountains/flowers/trees/animals/human etc.). But there is someone even more humble, thats water, who is below earth and not only that, water will flow down from whichever surface you put it at. Thats the kind of Nimrata, a Gursikh needs. He is further saying that if you meet humble people, become even more humble. Even if you meet high ego people, still stay humble. There he quoted Bhagat Fareed jee This Shabad is by Bhagat Sheikh Fareed Ji in Salok Fareed Jee on Pannaa 1378 PrIdw jo qY mwrin mukIAW iqn@w n mwry GuMim ] fareedhaa jo thai maaran mukeeaaa(n) thinhaa n maarae ghu(n)m || Fareed, do not turn around and strike those who strike you with their fists.AwpnVY Gir jweIAY pYr iqn@w dy cuMim ]7] aapanarrai ghar jaaeeai pair thinhaa dhae chu(n)m ||7|| Kiss their feet, and return to your own home. ||7|| NIMRTA, very hard to get. We loose temper on little things. And he also talked about Guru Ram Das jee advising Guru Arjun Dev jee (before he got the light of being Guru), that Nimrata de ghar vich aa jao. You can fight off your biggest enemies by keeping Nimrata. It is so true. But we kalyugi jeev are so much not putting it in practice. The greatness lies in being humble, greebRa, kookar of waheguru. Thats where guru Sahib wants to see us. And Gurbani says, that gareebRa jiha can feel the connection with that Vaheguru living within us, which we ego-filled people cann't feel it even though waheguru is within all of us.
  14. Let me clarify to you, she said "you might be shocked" and I answered yes, I am shocked, because I was assuming from the first of her post that it was some boy writing. So I answered my first post keeping that in mind. Don't you ever get shocked when you assume situation in a certain way and it turns out to be totally different. And I have not suggested her anything wrong. To put my answer in simple terms, I have just said that if you do have 100% faith in the guru you bow to, the Guru whose amrit you have taken, then please do ardas to Guru Sahib from your heart, and Guru Sahib paar langhaunge. I don't think I am not being considerate here. I do keep in mind when I write here that I am responsible for my actions and I do know that some youngesters read this forum and in no way, I want to encourage youngsters that keep up with your monkey mind winning the race over your Guru's command to you. I am going to tell you that your GURU says something else to you. LISTEN to GURU's commands and try to shut up your monkey mind as much as possible. As you know and everybody knows, when we follow our mind, we are following manmat and are labeled as manmukh by GURBANI. And when we follow GURU sahib's pavitar BANI, only then we are considered as GURMUKH. And how hard that is, I know that as well as I am an average grihsti person myself living through the bhathi (oven) of these panj chor that you are and GURBANI are talking about. I have gone through different kind of situation, but you could label it under the kaam umbrella. The only difference is that I realized it was kaam who is trying to enter in a disguised way and I put my efforts to fight it off. it frustrated me for few weeks. But whatever happened, it was not started by me. I realized it at each moment whats happening. And I kept trying to fight it off, and that created frustration. Eventually I was over with it, and I still thank God that "Thank you for putting me through this fire of situation of kaam, as I realized how in different ways it tries to enter and distract me from SIKHI path. And you know, what I kept reminding myself. It was Bhai Joga jee's situation. Guru jee stood there as a guard to protect him. And similarly, I had Guru jee standing there to protect me while Kaam was trying to attack in a ways that I never got attacked before. I know I am creating lot of mystery here. I have to, as I do not want to create a made up username and spell my story. I rather keep it btween me and my GURU. GURU knows everything. So in nutshell, I do not live in a perfect world and do not expect perfectness from everybody and am not perfect myself in anyway either. Not trying to offend you or anybody in anyways. Thats never my intention. But just trying to clarify what I meant. And wouldn't want to be labeled as inconsiderate at all. Thanks for understanding.
  15. I may be wrong (correctu me if I am), most of you above posters seem from UK. That kind of tells me that majority in UK is not guided properly in their young age. Lot of kids are being ignored by their own parents (while they are busy earning pounds and attending parties, visiting india again and agian for shopping, Atleast thats the part I know about vailatiye, sorry about generalizing, if you don't see truth in my statement, it may not be applying on you). I am sure it has been discussed before at different forums, but the youth that got ignored by their parents, need to stand up themselves and do efforts to bring yourself and others closer to your SIKH values. There is lot of suffering in life until you find the direction in life. Getting to know about kurbanis that our sikh Gurus and other sikhi related sidkee singh made should show the youth path/direction in life. Life is a shaking boat, filled with ups and downs all the way through, we need to learn how to keep ourselves stable throught this shaking. As above posters said, (after reading OP's problem, before I read the responses, I was thinking SANGAT, SANGAT), you need to change the sangat man. Volunteer at Gurughar. Become a assistant teacher for some punjabi/sikh history etc teacher. Do dishwashing sewa, Start reading Guru Granth Sahib jee from beginning and learn meaning.
  16. Yes you do shock me girl. I cann't believe that. I hope you do have faith in the Guru that you offered head to. Can you do ardas to Guruji to give you enough strength to cope with this problem. I am sure if you do ardas from your heart and have enough faith in Guruji, your prayers would be heard. Guru ang sang.
  17. Course you can answer... You make it sound as this is only a problem for guys, surely women are affected too aren't they? As far as I know, I don't think to the extreme men are :-) just day before yesterday, I saw someone at work looking at pictures of girls doing exercises and he kept saying I don't have that flexibility to do this or that exercise, then I finally commented "why r you looking at girls doing these muscle strength exercises, why don't you look at men?" His answer was "Because I like looking at women". So I had to just laugh off and walk away. More I get to know men (friends or relatives or coworkers), I find out that side of them and in some its pretty strong. I have heard very few women talking about it. Mostly women are crazy about shopping, eating, how they enjoyed their vacation trip or women worry about things that don't even matter much, or they gossip about other people etc. But I can comment only based on what I deal with. of course, there may be a brand of women that I am not in touch with, that you are talking about :-)). May be being man, you do feel that side of the women as well, and me being woman, don't.
  18. Sorry for answering for being a woman. But I think I have solution for your problem. Here is what you do. You fool your mind. have some Guru's times related videos on your favorites/Bookmarks. There is great one about Guru arjun dev ji's shaheede, or Gur Teg bahadur jee dee sahadat or million other videos. So when your kaami mind wants to see the stuff it wants to see, fool it and actually turn on one of those from your favorites (Something sikhi related) that will change your thoughts as it will make you think about Kurbanis our Gurus or Guru piyare made. I have to say again ( I have said it million times before), eventually its Man jeete jag jeet. So take over your monkey minds' desires. You solved your own problem while you thought about Guru Sahib (Tuhade time da dasvandh vee poora ho giya, if u usually do that for a while in a day). PM me to get my address to send my fee for the advice :-))
  19. You know this question gets posed in many different ways. Till today I didn't understand why periods is considered to be keeping you away from Gurbani, guru or any gurmat activity. The periods are designed by GOD, and are natural part of being woman. Nothing should ever stop just because you are going through that period of the month. Yes, if you havn't taken shower today, which means, you didn't clean your body and if you didn't do your nitnem today, then I would say to not do some activities as you havn't washed your tan and man.
  20. boys/girls (I guess mainly boys), who are against marriage, have you ever thought that if your dad didn't marry your mom, you were not going to be born and then one soul (yours) were going to be moving around to be getting chance to born in a sikh family and get chance at uniting with GOD by doing naam simran. I married, and I think thats the best thing to do in life. I married, and now according to Guru Sahib's will, I have 2 kids which are born after I had anand karaj according to Guru's mariyada. Those 2 kids are souls. And Guru Sahib chose them to be born in our house so that we can raise them according to sikhi values and bring them closer at uniting with almighty. is marriage or having kids (responsibilites associated with) are stopping me from doing my banis. No. If thats how salvation was attained, Guru Nanak Dev jee didn't have to come back after his udasies and could have just meditated in some jungle. BUT no he came back, had wedding, had kids, worked in farms. Do NOT take it the wrong way that marriage is in the way of uniting with GOD. Yes, i would agree that Kaam is in the way of uniting with GOD, which you can have to its peak, even if you don't marry. Grihsit jeevan is best to teach you in life. What you learn from staying in jungles anyways. By not marrying and hence not having kids, you are not going according to the karmic life cycle GOD has created. Universe is a life cycle. THink, if all the sikhs became selfish and focused only on being focused on themselves, are they giving other souls chance to be born?? Aren't other souls going to get pushed to be born in slums etc then. How are you helping the life cycle. I rather be out there and helping the community doing sewa, teaching kids, raising my own kids the sikh values while other kids treating as my own kids as well. I rather take on more responsibilities and help the society to get more towards getting out of life cycle than only myself. my views, you don't have to agree.
  21. I don't think I can answer that question. I would be judging and commenting without any knowledge of who is or not close to Guruji. I can only tell you that YOU can experience the closeness once you are there. The day your questions disappear and answers start to come by reading more and more gurbani and living according to rehat Guruji gave you, you will feel the closeness. If you are filled with questions/doubts now, you need to start walking towards the Guru. And how do u walk towards the Guru?? That is a good question to ask. The answer I have found so far, is that you start following what Guru Says. And thats where the majority of us lacks. we read, understand what SGGSji says (if we even read it ever), but we don't follow. To most of us, it seems good shabad, good kan ras, good meaning, but when it comes to apply in real life, asin vista de keere, moorakh, fer vista khaN vich lage rahinde aa. asin zindgee dee moh maya, rasaan vich galtan haan. And thats exactly what we need to stop doing. if you reach to that in this life time, then you achieved something. And now about having Amrit or not. Amrit has power. You want Amrit, because it gives you that power, it makes you committed, gives you disciplne. You have guru standing on your side. you are a dog with Guru's leash around your neck. Without it, you are street dog, eating from here and there. running around without knowing where to. Amrit shows you the purpose of life. I think I should stop. I don't wanna say anything wrong, as I am moorakh as well and may say it by an accident.
  22. First of all, we shouldn't be judging others ( I know we all fall in this category of judging others time to time). To me SIKHI is inside yatra. So I don't need to see what others do. What others do now, I was doing before. Do I like better "me now" or "me then in their shoes". This is the real question "I was better sikh then (when I was like others) or I am better now". So pose questions to you about yourself not about others. Every single individual on this earth has their own jouney to travel. Don't worry about others. Just travel yours. While doing that, encourage others +vely, not by showing them mirror where you look down upon them, but by setting yourself as a better role model. Let people see you following your Guru's command. Everyone has their own pace to get moving towards Guruji. Bhai Gurdas jee likhde hun crn srin gur eyk pYfw jwie cl charan saran gur eaek paiddaa jaae chala siq gur koit pYfw Awgy hoie lyq hY ] sath gur kott paiddaa aagae hoe laeth hai || Tusin apnee yatra te chalo, rest leave upto Guruji. Duniya dee vaali fikar naa kariya karo. duniya kise ton roti khoh taan sakdee aa, par dindi nahi. Sikhi kise ton khoh taan sakdee aa, par dindee nahi. So why even worry about who does what.
  23. You are reminding me something. A girl in USA, about 15 years ago asked me that "is nailpolish allowed in Sikhism". I said no ( I was putting it on sometimes as well). She said, if she doesn't then her nails, hands look ugly. At that time, I had answered that don't do it for few weeks months, the same hands wouldn't feel any good after putting nailpolish. The situation would reverse. Eh saari mind dee gall aa, bhenji. Man nu jo auj changa lagda, kal nu ohee changa nahi lagda. More you get drawn to real sikhi, more you won't enjoy these dikhava stuff of the materilistic world. when you start having rus from Gurbani, you loose the taste for other rus in life. Eh sare rus han. Imagine Guru Gobind Singh jee standing right next to you, watching you what you doing, next time you pick up scissors to cut any body hair. Tuhadi himmat nahi paiNee ke tusin ik vee vaal kat diyo. SIKH dee yatra apne inside val hai, not to the outside world. Outside world is a karm bhoomi. so outside world nu kiyon impress keeta jaave. If Ever you feeel that somebody will think that you look weird with your hair, just ask this question "is that person not creation of GOD, do that person not come under the command of God, whom you are so worried about thinking weird about you or your hair or any other weird appearance you may have while trying to keep the sikhi saroop. Believe me this world is so entagled in their own affairs, that they don't really have time for others. After taking amrit, I appeared at work first time with my head covered then people whom I worked with for 10 years, gave me looks. I felt weird. I talked to my american friend. You know what she said. She said "Amarjit, give people one week, they will get used to be seeing new you". And that was such a beautiful advice from an american friend. I remember it always when I face the crowds. IF i go somewhere for once, I don't really care what those people think, as I am not going to see them again. And where I go more often, they will get used to be seeing me the way I am. So I have nothing to worry. While i am writing this, I mean to say not only about me covering my head, but also the facial hair. I weigh it out this way. I ask myself question "is it more important for me, what people think or to follow my Guru's hukam??" the asnwer always comes Following hukam is more important. So thats my driving force. And as veerji said above, the rules for Sahejdhari and amritdhari are not different. The only differece between them is taking khande dee pahul or not.
  24. To the original poster, try this with your mom. tell her that you met some Sant/Baba/Gurmukh piyara and he said that you and your closest family do the Sahej path together. "And mom, we can do it together, and if that doesn't change the stars for me, than I will go to the pooja (not that I really want you to do that, but I do believe that first of all your mother won't agree to do Sahej Path with you, but if somehow she does agree, than Guru Sahib does have stregth that she won't want to get into pandits chakkarview any more after reciting 1/2 or more of Sri Guru Granth Sahib jee. So in nutshell, before she makes you fall in her pooja trap, you make her fall in yours or make her give up on hers if she doesn't agree on yours. My Mom just told me that on hola mohala, one is supposed to make something sweet and make it go round and round around kids head and feed the birds and that way kids won't get chickenpox. First time, I put it through one ear and let out the other. But when she said the second time, I said mom, I can make something sweet, but won't make it go round and round around kids head to make kaali ma happy. My Vaheguru is takiing care of my kids well and I don't have to make kaali ma happy, she is not anymore powerful than my vaheguru. And what happened, that I even forgot to make something sweet that day. I think I made the apple pie one day before and we still havn't finished it. And I do have faith in Vaheguru jee, so nothing to worry. So as other people suggested, keep working on your resume and skills and networking (very important in job market and other fields as well) and keep faith in vaheguruji. Don't forget the dasvandh of your time towards remembering GOD through simran, reciting banis, listening to katha keertan etc.
  25. Veerji/Bhenji, I have been attending NYC parade for last 13-14 years or so. The one thing that I really feel needs more planning is "the lines for food stalls". Parade feels great until everybody reaches to the final location and all of a sudden everybody seems to rush for food. It becomes mess over there, pushing people to get through to get a plate of food while trying to avoid being spilled by that cup of tea in somebody's hand or curry in their food plate. There must be a way. My suggestion would be to have ropes tied going around to keep everbody in order. Put a sign in the entrace point to that one particular location what is being served there. Sometimes people are pushing each other to food server without even knowing what is being served there. I understand its a big event and there is crowd of 7-8 states. I heard it gets close to 30000 people attending the parade plus onlookers who are either tourists there or just live around.
