Sat Sri Akal to all my friends here. Well I am very much confused regarding the rituals of shradhs and navratras which are performed by majority of people belonging to hindu culture (includes sihs as well). At my home as well, my family is verty much engaged in these rituals. They stop me from doing various things during shradhs like buying something, going through any bussiness or general transaction, even stopped me to go through a minor surgery on my eye as they believe that during shradhs it may go wrong or wont provide desired results. Further, they say there sshould not be any non vegetarian item consumed during navratras and they even held "kanjakans"... at our place...they opted for fasts for one or two days...! My sincere question to my friends here "IS there any benefit of performing above tasks...like not consuming non-veg during navratas and free to consume after that, not purchasing anything in sgradhs or going through any medical treatment during navratras for fear of it being going wrong"...I am confused liuke anything. I used to live abroad and never used to indulge in these things. Now I am back at my place I see lot of such stuff going around me and when I say something I ve got so many people around me whom I cant authorise as they are all elders. Kindly help me and if You can provide me quotes from Gurbani...

i agree with you brother that most of the bolywood movies with sikh charactr in it make fun of sikh's image...however there are few movies where truth has been shown in somewhat genuine way...take a look freinds...!

as far as i could get. he didnt say anything against sikhs or sikhism...he was actually criticising some muslim who on indian soil went against some muslims and sikhs as well due to taliban like extremist views of him...today taliban is doin the same in pakistan what that muslim man did in indian some time back...!

well even gandhi, patel, trivedi were considered bahmanwadi leader, because they were anti sikh or rather anti minority. they were intolerable towards the interests of sikhs and muslims. Bahmanwaad is not hindutva since these leaders were not preachers. But it actually represents anti sikh thinking of our ex leaders. Bahmanwaad is the name given by sikhs to the thinking of nehru and other leaders. They were not religious people of hindu fraternity but common hindus who think that Pakistan is carved out of India and rest of india belongs to them and all other religions as hindu sects. this is called bahmanwaad. These leaders used to consider that there are only two fronts in India viz. hindu and muslim.

well there's is nothing like tuesday or thursday phobi in sikhism...either stop eating it permanently or stop worrying about days...i used to live with friends (hindu) who used to avoid eating during navratras and used to observe fast and eat special kind of rotis only made from kuttu atta...never used to eat anything else during 9 days...!!! but 10th day they used to hold barbeques with every variety of meat being served in it...whats the use of such pakhands...its all superstition...!

if reyat is inocent of everything then why did he buy the bomb material used to bomb air india, and why did he go to jail and confess to buying the material that was used to make the bomb but he has memory loss apparantly as to who he gave that material to m not saying that reyat and all were not involved...they may have committed the crime...but what i am lookin for is whether these 3-4 sikhs themselves planned the activity or were backed by any indian intelligence agency...as such a large scale activity cannot be resulted without external support of some officials of higher order...! they got used by indian govt, hence why parmar got killed thats genuine now...killing of parmar do points towards the involvement of somebody from Indian intelligence...any other such hint...?

sad but true. We need to expose anyone that does drugs by taking from them and burying it or wasting it somehow(making it unusable) Alcohol needs to be poured on the ground(as american prohibition did) but Khalistan would be a religious country or state so it would not need any alcohol sales or tax revenue (so all the liquor store owners wouldnt be able to make any money in that fashion) Corrupt people ned to be boycotted and flushed out the system. Basically we need a true neighborhood watch system which insures the betterment of all people. drunks and drug addicts can move to another state or country so they can do their drugs or drink their alcohol and not complain about it. Corruption would be banned in Khalistan, and those who are exposed as corrupt would serve the tankhiya stated in the constitution about corruption (so leaders would think twice before running for office and would be held accountable for any misdeeds they did whther it be in public or behind closed doors) nice suggestions dear...but who will handle these things if khalistan would be there...our leaders...who drink half in the morning and quarter in the evening...as i said earlier we dont have solid leadership to handle such things otherwise there wouldn't have been problems like these... we need somebody who would be strict on corruption, development of the state as a whole not just his/her pind or village, good administrator, good thinker, impartial and non-communal...he/she must give equal proportion of interest to people from all faiths, cultures and religions...unfortunately Punjab has stopped producing such sons and daughter now...qnd if there' any he/she has no access to political matters of the state...!

praying to God is one aspect and doing karam is another aspect...God would provide you with senses and brains to generate ideas to eradicate the problem...but If you consider that things would be allright by praying alone and neglecting the aspect of karam...it wont be fruitfull buddy...!

Fateh jee, interesting question jee. ok then, a nail is embedded into my foot. If I was in pain then I would take it out, other wise what use is there for me to take something out which is full of love. What use is their taking thorns out of my foot if it's thorns of love, thorns of pyaar, nails of vaheguru, nails of dhan dhan dhan mahaaaj guru granth sahib jee. tell me??? I'm eagar to know. pleaseee tell me Bhaji does this mean you doubt gurbani jee????? this is not the practical aspect buddy, you have to pull the nail out of your foot yourself...there will be no divine lightning in the sky to pull it out...Waheguru has given you two hands and understanding that thorns embedded on foot should be removed by hand slowly...you have to move yourself for that...! Regarding thorns of love and pyaar, well drug problems are painfull thorns not the so called "thorns of love and pyaar"...so face the reality dear...!

rules mustbe reframed for the use of sukke nashe like bhukki, afeem, injections, doddey, smack etc etc...let their be no bail for drug sellers if caught...let there be anti drug wing or specialised narcotics department in every tehsil, district of Punjab which looks after these matters as punjab police is too busy with stupid matters like lookin for girl who ran with her uncle or boy who ran with her aunt etc etc...! I may also like to add that these steps are practically impossible in current Punjab as long as we dont stop voting for idiots in the elections...captains Govt. has looted the Punjab to the core, while Badals are not trying anything to provide influx of cash to the Punjab...the state of Punjab which had highest per capita income india even after a hell lot of troubles for more than a decade...is now cash strapped...amongst the poor states...! some people wud say that if this state wud have been part of khalistan...the situation wudn't have been so bad...i ask you guys...do we really have leadership to handle a country...since our leaders are not able to handle a small state of Punjab...!

any development which affects the society or state must start from within an individual...we should make sure that we ourselves are not using drugs in our family...make your children aware...the way we teach them to speak, to walk...let the drug awareness be also a part of agenda while bringing up our children...! Further, state Govt. should stop issuing liquor licences to the vendors...no more theke and daaru dee hatti in Punjab...for this badal legacy is required to be broken...even captain is not a good choice...we should try to find a nice leader...probably a female leader...but like bhattal or bibi jagir kaur...parneet kaur would be fine...though she is wife of captain...but seems to be an educated lady...! Another choice would be Mr. Simranjit Singh Mann...seems to be quite concerned person in context of Punjab state..! it is impossible to stop alcohol in a state of Punjab...or anywhere in India...but yes we can reduce the amount of alcohol consumption by stop providing licences to fresh applicants...no alcohol served late night, sy after 12...and we need strict administration to apply these rules...again badals are not gud choice for this...!

well what i could find so far is people in this forum are making their personal grudges a base to accuse reyat and all...somehow not ablr to provide concrete information regarding the same...just because one has an affair with somebody in Khalsa school or is a bad person in social circle...doesnt mean he has done as heinous crime as bombing a plane...this acts doesnt proove that reyat and all are guilty...Further, there are few points to be considered which states that all these people at one instance or another were involved to some extent...but can we really rule out the involvement of indian intelligence...? also these people (reyat and all) live as per sikh code of conduct...but that doesnt prove that they are true sikh...having unshorn hair and turban alone doesnt make you a sikh...there are numerous other aspects as well...there were many black cat commandos in Gobind Ram SSP's force who killed Amritdhari sikhs during 80's...were they sikhs as well...? they were paid employee's who were given sikhi bana for a purpose...!
