Jag Chaanan Hoa - the world has been illuminated. Mitiya andhera - darkness has been dispelled. Chand Charya - the moon has risen. This is a reference to Dhan Dhan Guroo Nanak Dev Sahib Jee. The whole having a bath in Sarovar is physical cleansing... even the leper that was cured at Dukh Bhanjnee Beri, i.e. Bibi Rajni Jee's husband, was cured physically, but only because, as H4RPAL stated, the state of mind was one of complete devotion and faith. The true mental ishnaan is more important, and can be carried out in the Sarovar of Raam de Daas, as explained in the Shabad above. Raam = God Daas = Person Thus whilst the Shabad may make us think literally of ishnaan in the physical sense, in Sarovar founded by Guroo Raam Daas Jee, it is more importantly, a reference to Sangat, cleansing oneself internally in the presence of God's people. However people that are 'serious' and 'depressed looking' I think are trying, like K 51NGH bhaajee said, to contain themselves and preventing themselves from being taken in by the vices..... but containing oneself from the vices alone does not take away the desires from the mind... i think one has to be amongst maya yet truly 'thiaag' the desires and thus one can ultimately be freed from the temptations....
