Personally what I understand In regards to this Shabad is the Sugar refers to the Atma contained in the body. In the last Tuk I think Guru Ji is saying " The other people residing in Dharam Rais court whos punishments will also be recieved have come to see how the Atma has been stamped. I think the word pattreeahe means letter, stamp, envelope, etc. In Japji Sahib there is mentions ndrI krim pvY nIswxu ] nadharee karam pavai neesaan || They receive the Mark of Grace from the Merciful Lord. kc pkweI EQY pwie ] kach pakaaee outhhai paae || The ripe and the unripe, the good and the bad, shall there be judged. 2. I think SImran refers to doing simran with each swas. For this to happen it takes alot of hard work. One must wake up early ( amrit vela) and do Naam Abhyiaas. Eventually by doing early Naam Simran; Naam Simran becomes natural. WHen sitting and standing Naam SImran becomes automatic since the Gurmantar becomes part of the subconscience thus the naam simran goes on automotically. WHen doing worldly affiairs, talking to the others, etc the naam simran continues to flow autmoically. To get to this stage though it takes hard work. AMirt Vela naam SImran is critical, and doing Naam Simran before going to sleep is also important. The reason why Naam does not become automatic for most of us is that we are too indulged in wordly things. First thing we do when we wake up is think about wordly matters. THis worries, anxiets, hopes become part of our subconscious, when walking and standing these desires still influence the mind. If we woke up and thought about Waaheguru eventually the Gurmantar will becomes part of our conscience. The more naam simran we do sitting down with concentration the less desires/worries we will have that plague the mind and prevent it from doing 24/7 naam simran.

  4. I heard they are making a movie about Operation Blue star in which they make notorious Thug KPS GIll ( played by bollywood superstar Sanjay Dutt) look like a hero. AMita Bachan also plays a " good" cop against "sikh terrorist". http://www.panthic.org/news/131/ARTICLE/5080/2009-07-03.html
  5. Because one cant have relations with their suppose unless they are AmritChhak. There is a rehatnama that states this. I cant find it but it does exist. If someone is already married and their spouse does not exist then thats difficult especially if the couple has children. A person needs to live up to their responsibility to raise the children. It is possible to be married, and raise children without having relations with your spouse. Who knows eventually the person might change if they are exposed to Sikhi in the household.
  6. If the wider panth accepts a certain date and decide to celebrate on that day whats wrong with that. Many people say Pehli Paatshahs birthday was originally in APril but HIndus try to change it to November is there was a special hindu holiday on this month. While the wider Panth celebrates in November and this celebration has nothing to do with Hindu rituals I have no problem celebrating with the rest of the Panth in November. We need to learn to stop being so stubborn put away our differences on small matters and learn to do things together as a panth. I agree with you that everyday should be celebrated as a Gurpurab, small differences should prevent Gursikhs from preventing together as the Panth. This is what the RSS try to do during the 300 Gurgaddi anniversary so people wouldnt celebrate together.
  7. Once a Maratha saint, Samarth Ramdas During his rambles in Northern India, Samarth Ramdas met Guru Hargobind at Srinagar in about 1634. Fully armed and riding a horse, the Guru had just returned from an excursion. "I had heard that you occupied the Gaddi of Guru Nanak", said Swami Ramdas. "Guru Nanak was a Tyagi sadhu - a saint who had renounced the world. You are wearing arms and keeping an army and horses. You allow yourself to be addressed as Sacha Patshah, the True King. What sort of a sadhu are you?" asked the Maratha saint. Guru Hargobind replied, "Internally a hermit, and externally a prince. Arms mean protection to the poor and destruction of the tyrant. Baba Nanak had not renounced the world but had renounced Maya, i.e. self and ego: "batan faquiri, zahir amiri shastar garib ki rakhya, jarwan ki bhakhiya Baba Nanak sansar nahi tyagya, Maya tyagi thi." These words of Guru Hargobind found a ready response in the heart of Samartha Swami Ramdas who, as quoted in Pothi Panjak Sakhian, spontaneously said, "this appealeth to my mind - Yeh hamare man bhavti hai". gurmuiK mylw sc dw sic imlY sicAwr sMjogI] guramukh maelaa sach dhaa sach milai sachiaar sa(n)jogee|| Gurmukh longs for the glimpse of Truth and the Truth is obtained only by providentially meeting an adopter of the Truth. 8. The topic is about holidays, now you are talking about pilgrimage veerji. We have to make every effort to visit Guru Asthans, no matter what. But when it comes to holidays, the purpose is to relax and enjoy. Pilgrimage (hate to use that word as it has no significance in Sikhi) or visiting itihasik Gurughars is different. I never intended to change the direction of this thread. I always considered pilgramage and vacation to mean the same thing. I mean how many people come from distance countries ( England, UK , Canada. India) to visit during Smagams. This is a vacation and which they relax and enjoy time with the Sadh Sangat. I mean what can be more relaxing/peaceful then Seva. siqguru syvih qw suKu pwvih nwih q jwihgw jnmu gvwie ] rhwau ] sathigur saevehi thaa sukh paavehi naahi th jaahigaa janam gavaae || rehaao || If you serve the True Guru, you shall find peace; otherwise, you shall depart, after wasting away your life in vain. ||Pause|| I think when we do Ardas I dont think we are asking Guru Ji for darshan of Nankana Sahib for pilgrmage/historical reasons. We are asking GUru Ji to let us spend our time in serving in his house. Honestly, If I was married and I was going on vacation besides Anandpur Sahib I couldnt imagine any other place to visit and do seva where it is needed. THis would be a major blessing from Guru JI. Actually I hear Vancouver is better then Toronto  . BUt then again if you are in North American you might as well come to California since it is better then Toronto and Vancouver.
  9. Personally I dont think we should be scaring people from Pakistan. We say in Ardas everyday for Guru Ji to bless us with Darshan of Nankana Sahib to do seva. How will Guru Ji fullfill our Ardas if we are afraid to go to such places?
  10. When did you visit last? :D I have never visited  , but Im thinking it would be nice place to visit as its the birthplace to visit . I hope to visit one day. I have heard many great things about Pakistan. People say Sikhs get alot of respect overthere. Oh yes, just like we did in 1947, or recently in Swat and Khyber  It's disheartening that some of our most important shrines and Gurdwaras are located in what has become the most God-foresaken country on Earth. With a Taliban take-over in the pipeline, it can only get worse. :o Im not speaking from Bollywood films, I am speaking about what people have told me. everyperson I have met who has been to Pakistan say good things. The only people who hate Pakistan and try to prevent people from going there are people who are Pro-Indian. People like the cowardly SGPC who didnt go when Pakistani Sikhs were in desperate need. Every country has its fanatics. Pakistan has the Taliban, and India has the BJP/RSS. How come no one mentioned India being a fanatical democraticless country.

  13. If a person is wearing a Kara out of respect for Sikhi then I see no harm in it hopefully this respect for Sikhi would lead to self respect. But if they have no self respect and are just doing it out of mere custom like those people who place Khandas in their car and listen to Bhangara then that just plain shameful. Thus people wearing Karas should not be smoking, drinking, or doing anything else shameful.
  14. Pakistan would probably be a nice place. I have heard Singapore is real nice. My parents went their last year and they said many good things about it. Singapore has alot of tolerance for freedom of religion. If a person talks down on another religion in Singapore they are fined. I have also heard Hawaii is a very nice place with great scenery. My family have visited Hawaii numerous times and they all seem to really enjoy it. Harmandir Sahib would also be an ideal place to visit. You and your wife can go there and do seva together.
  15. For ordinary people there is no such thing as rehat they do as their mind tells them. They have no direction or guide they are lost and confused. For the Panth rehat is one size fits all. The main rehat for the panth is Sri GUru Granth Sahib Ji, any Rehat that contradicts Gurmat cannot be considered rehat. Any rehat that supports Gurmat could be considered valid. For example one rehatnama says pRQm rihq Xih jwn KMfy kI pwhul Cky ] soeI isMG pRDwn Avr n pwhul jo ley ] prathham rehith yehi jaan kha(n)ddae kee paahul shhakae ||asoee si(n)gh pradhhaan avar n paahul jo leae || To drink the Ambrosial Nectar of the Khanda (Amrit) is the primary instruction for the Sikh. 16. Yes this advice appears to be true. Whenever I try to do nitnem without doing Naam Simran in the morning and the night before my mind seems to be distracted and clogged. Im guessing this is from all the dirt of this life and previous lifes. But when I do Naam Simran the night before my mind seems to be focused and more attached to the bani internally.
  17. Singh ji, why can't they be in that state at all times? I have heard of non-Sikh (Hindu) ascetics to be in samadhi for months, yet from outside they appear to be awake and normal, but from within their avastha is in samadhi. To the world they appear like ordinary but they are not in their sensual "senses" as they are ikk-mikk with Vaheguru. If non-Sikhs can achieve that, I am more than sure Gurmukhs can as well. Bhai Sahib Bhai Rama Singh ji and Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Bhindranwale visited Sachkhand several times even before leaving their mortal bodies. Sachkhand is where Vaheguru resides, and Vaheguru is inside us. We need to "go inside" to get Sachkhand. That is how I understand it. One has to reach Sachkhand while being alive. That is what takes one there after physical death. Please correct me if I am wrong. There will always be a never-ending debate on this matter which won't have any conclusion. In regards to Rag mala , the person who posted this thing is just trying to start an Anti-Akj thread. Everybody knows who was the strongest opponent of Rag Mala. i was not trying to start an anti akj thread. i already got in trouble 4 that before. what i am saying is that i dont see bhai randir singh ji to be a brahmgiani as he did not accept Guru Granth Sahib Ji as complete. BUT BUT BUT, this is not to say that he did not become brahmgiani after learning that Raagmala is baani. i am not starting anything against akj or a raagamal debate. Lol you and Khalistan Zindabad are hilarious. I dont care to waste anytime about discussing Rag Mala, I have no opinions on this issue. But just to clear things up Bhai Randhir Singh was strong against Rag Mala. Singhs like Bhai Jivan Singh who had sangat and were very close to Bhai Sahib are also against Rag Mala. First people are making stuff up about Baba Nand SIngh Ji, now they are making stuff up about Bhai Randhir Singh Ji. They are trying to turn Sikhi and Sikhs into some sort of cheap cartoon.
  18. Thats great news! You can listen to Banis on Audio but its best for you to recite them yourself. This way you can concentrate on the Banis at your own pace. If you cannot read Gurmukhi then you should learn, and at the same time try to memorzie as much as the Banis when listening to them on Audio. In regards to Amrit Vela. Amrit Vela is a great opportunity to seek Guru Jis blessings. Unfortunately, there are many Gursikhs who do not take this special time to wake up and seek Gurus blessing. Younger people do genereally have a harder time waking up for Amrit Vela. But you can try waking up as early as possible even if this means 7 am, and then slowly by slowly wake up 15 minutes more eariler each month. Eventually you will adjust to the early time and have a good Amrit Vela.
  19. I never said a word against keski as rehit. I wasnt reply to you about Keski, I was mainly referring to Agian. Khalistan Zindabad- I dont understand your random statement? I understand the intention, but I dont understand what you are saying.
  20. I think that Singh is from Wolverhampton, Im sure if you ask him he will help you tie one.
  21. Regarding Dasam Granth Bani stand, we cannot go and force people to accept it without giving them chance or time to understand this issue more deeply. I know about akj.org sewadars stance on this topic and i have no hate against them even though i am very much involved in the positive approach to spread the message of Dasam Patshah da granth di bani. If you see or meet other person with opposing viewpoint then you should not loose the ground and start attacking that person politically, instead arrange a private low profile meeting with the scholars such as G.S. Lamba or Gurinder Maan (uk) or others. Anyway, point is that one can do the positive work without using the force tactic (such as banning them from performing kirtan). If California AKJ are so strict then why they accepted the award last sunday from Fremont Gurdwara management when its president Harjot Singh K. denied us flatly to hold Dasam Seminar in their Gurughar last year. Why not buycott them as well? Again I dont want to get into these long and meaningless debates. I just want to clear things up so people do not get the wrong impression about California Sangat. This is not about discrimination against any person or group. Taksali Singhs are encouraged to kirtan at Rainsubaaes at California programs as long as their views on Sri Dasam Granth are not perverse. If people from other parts of the world do not want to take a stance in respecting Sri Dasam Granth Bani and propagating the Bani with Kirtanis who believe in it then thats their fault they will have to answer to Guru Ji eventually. Bhai Sahib, In regards to Sri Dasam Granth Seminar, it was the previous comittee that did not allow the seminar to take place for whatever reasons. But this does not mean that the current commitee or Fremont Sangat is ANti- Dasam Granth. If they were then why would they allow Sri Dasam Granth Bani kirtan in the Darbar Sahib at Fremont Gurdwara. Over the last year or two I have not been to a Fremont Rainsubaee in which bani from Sri Dasam Granth was not sung. To compare the previous committee with Singhs whose anti Dasam Granth views are blasphemous is just plain wrong and misleading. Certain Singhs have been banned from doing Kirtan because they quesion Guru Jis bani. Rainsubaees are not for the comittee they are for the sangat to take laha. If a group of politicians dont like Dasmi Paatshahs bani then thats their choice. They dont own the Gurdwara. Gurdwara belongs to Guru Ji, and there should be no reason why sangat should be deprived from all nigh kirtan programs. But I can assure you that such politicians who have anti-Dasam Granth views will not be allowed to do kirtan seva. If people have anti Dasam Granth views they are more then likely to start their own Jathas and do kirtan where ever they please, but it doesnt make sense for them to do kirtan with Sangat who have strong Pro Dasam Granth beliefs. Again I dont want to keep going back and forth with these things I am fully aware that people have animosity towards California Sangat. As many Singhs from California/North America well not even attend the Cali Smagams out of spite, thus its pointless to debate with people who have a revengeful agenda and careless about kirtan/religion and care more about petty feuds. We need to understand that controversy over Sri Dasam Granth is nothing new. What did you think the Hindus were thinking when Guru Sahib wrote this granth. They try to cause confusion and doubt about this Granth because they believed it was attack on their beliefs. Similarly people are still tryting to confuse confusionand doubt about this granth, they are trying to mislead the sangat. Thus they should not be allowed to do kirtan. It has nothing to do with force, its about principles . People like Darhan Sinhh are even questioning Amrit Sanchar Banis, do you think people like that should be allowed to do kirtan in Gurus Ghar?

  23. slander is when you say something untrue about someone.........which i didnt do. and lol, nice try at being a psychiatrist. shame it isnt true though, otherwise i might have thought you had some intelligence behind your logic and conclusions. oh well. toodle-do sweetheart! what!?! so now your saying Guru ji doesnt like tractors and wants us to use our hands?!?!?! dont tell the pendus or we'll have more riots in the punjab. God also gave us hands so we can make machines to make our work easier, thus giving us more free time to do Bhagti.
  24. Singh ji, why can't they be in that state at all times? I have heard of non-Sikh (Hindu) ascetics to be in samadhi for months, yet from outside they appear to be awake and normal, but from within their avastha is in samadhi. That is what takes one there after physical death. Please correct me if I am wrong. There will always be a never-ending debate on this matter which won't have any conclusion. Veer Ji you could be write maybe it is possible for a person like Baba Nand Singh Ji to be residing in Sach Khand, but I still believe for the body to maintain and function it needs food. When the atma completely renounces the body and resides permantently in Sach Khand then there is no need for feed and sleep. Again Im not a Brahmgiani and I have not experienced these things. All I know is that Brahmgianis like Sant Isher SIngh Ji Rara Sahib, Bhai Randhir Singh Ji, Sant Harnam Singh jI ( rampurKhera) did eat food, so I cant understand why they wouldnt need food either. In regards to Rag mala , the person who posted this thing is just trying to start an Anti-Akj thread. Everybody knows who was the strongest opponent of Rag Mala. In regads to Keski, I will always propagate Keski/DAstar as rehat. I didnt know you have to be AKJ to do that. Sant Attar SIngh Ji ( Mastuna) encouraged Dastar amongst both genders , all the Singnis from Giani Gurbachan SIngh Jis family wore Dastars does that mean they are AKJ as well? Could you please stop using stereotypes. There is enough strong evidence that illustrates covering head with dastar is mandatory. Bhai Nand Lals rehat mentions this , and rehat applies equally to both genders. If people want to deny this rehat then thats their choice. I will no longer waste my time trying to convince people who are not willing to accept rehatnamas of Bhai Nand Lal Singh Ji.
