  1. Get the names of the decision makers behind this policy or get the names of people in charge of security and ask them in writing why they are not searching underwear, large hair, limbs for prosthetics with storage, etc. Write a second letter saying that you have not received a reply to the first. If they don't reply, write a third letter asking them if they care that the public feels safe or whether they are safe. etc. etc. Publish all replies or lack of replies. http://aidwatchers.com/2009/12/underwear-bomber-illustrates-limit-of-%E2%80%9Cdo-something%E2%80%9D-approach-to-public-policy-with-aid-application/
  2. A kirpan is for the person wishing to give his/her head, not for a person looking to save his/her a**. If you are concerned about your safety and are intent on carrying something, and without commenting on the legality or wisdom in such an approach, you can can carry a hammer, a bat, a tire iron, a large screw driver, plastic gun (keep it hidden if the other guy has a real one) etc. You sure a bicep tattoo won't suffice? You can also get a job, or a more shifts etc. and move to a better neighborhood. If all 5ks are equal, then it follows for a sehajdhari that every kakkar requires equal respect and consideration as to your purpose in making it part of you. Kudos to you for coming as far as you have. In sum, you deserve to develop a better relationship with the kirpan than what you propose.
  3. Great post for it's blunt truth. I am not white. However, I totally relate to your frustration about the racism amongst indians including so called sikhs. I do disagree with respect to crap from the white community. The white community remains very racist, much of that racism is rather sophisticated and refined. Nonetheless, i am appalled and disgusted at how racist and insular punjabi's can be. Thank you for being honest.
  4. Here is a reason to be concerned about a person like this regardless of any other views she holds. It is a link to a youtube video put out by her. She is willing to go down in history as the 2010 version of the Ku Klux Klan to get political advantage. She is not stupid and knows exactly what she is doing....disgusting and shameful!! Listen to her comments at the beginning and end about her efforts to bring in legislation that entirely matches that of Arizona! How can she look herself in the mirror? Face her parents or her children? Any personal issue with identity aside, her draconian endorsement of racial discrimination is alarming. Now more than ever we need intelligent people around the world to be active in their communities and governments.
  5. Sikhs should keep a distance from the above type of conclusion which is traditionally associated with Hinduism, but which some of us continue to adopt. One of the requirements of Sikhi is to think a bit deeper than above; that thinking has nothing to do with intelligence, but everything to do with the humility to savor your Guru's message. Sikh sovereignty and dignity does not keep a distance, it claims itself sovereign, yet shows love and offers a hand to all.
  6. Does he also think they should have had a Black Guru, a Guru in a wheelchair, a Jewish Guru? Does he also believe that if God was good, there would be no pain? Tell him that his is an asinine statement and rather than making statements disguised as questions, he should sincerely ask questions and he will obtain answers. You don't need to prove "otherwise" as neither statement resembles anything close to intelligent logic, let alone proof.

    Need Advice

Tell her privately, but it need not be ‘confrontational’. Do it from a position of peace and strength. You are assisting her by telling her. The tone you use should reflect that. Admit to her that it is not a question of whether you lack humour or she lacks sensitivity, but simply that the communication is detrimental to a friendship you value. Be prepared to gently give her specific examples. Do it over ice cream or dessert.
  8. To the penji's posting. WE need YOUR help. Please report to the police or take up the PM offers here to move forward.
  9. Rathan, what a great way to promote love! Join and make it clear in your first post that you hate everyone on the forum for being a crybaby and their lack of love. newsflash…people here have drastically different views and we do respect one another. We also can be blunt where we do not respect a view. We might also rein people in who cross a line. We challenge one another, disagree and agree, and we co-exist on this forum. The forum has a culture and maybe you can contribute and shape it, but nobody is forcing you to be here. With respect to Cry Babies…. The difference between a baby expressing a need and an adult expressing a need is that the adult makes an intelligible point and the baby cries, leaving one to guess what the baby is trying to communicate. I am left guessing what you are trying to communicate rathan.
  10. So there we have it, irrefutable proof of dusanjh celebrating the bombing of parliament and killing of a police officer. Given his hysterical stance, will this utter hypocrisy be the end of his credibility and political career? http://www.voiceonline.com/voice/070929/newsroundup.php A link was posted here, but here is Dave Hayer’s hypocrisy about his hysteria. He sees that youth will be inspired by this person that bombed parliament and killed a police officer. 'Game over' political career? #7. GOVERNMENT STATEMENT ON BIRTH CENTENARY OF BHAGAT SINGH Dave S. Hayer, Parliamentary Secretary for Multiculturalism and Immigration and MLA for Surrey-Tynehead, on behalf of the provincial government of British Columbia, made the following statement in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Shaheed Bhagat Singh this week: Bhagat Singh grew up in a patriotic atmosphere at a time when the struggle for India's freedom was all around him. From a young age he wondered why so many Indians could not achieve freedom from foreign occupation, and dreamed of a free India. That dream led him to create a revolutionary movement destined to not only to make India an independent nation, but also to conceive a country free of discrimination and oppression. Since then, it is amazing at how far India has come in its 60 years of independence, and I can only imagine the thoughts of Bhagat Singh if he lived today, to see what his martyrdom began in 1931. Bhagat Singh gave his life for the ideal of a free and better India, and that India he fought for is now flourishing. That success is a tribute to those responsible for pursuing an independent India, and I know that the contribution of Bhagat Singh will be remembered and will be for many, many years to come. The stories of his courage and patriotism were an inspiration for many young Indians at that time who wanted to see India independent. Even today Shaheed Bhagat Singh's memory continues to inspire our youth and many poems and songs have been written about his courage and undying patriotism. The South Asian community is an important part of the multicultural fabric of the province of British Columbia. We salute your contribution to this province and we are proud to celebrate this great time with the community. Please accept our best wishes as we all come together to honour the memory of a legendary hero of India.
  11. Again via a simple google search. Here is a sight in Vancouver that has several references to killing Sikhs. This is only the tip of the iceberg of recent. Is the media there making news of this? Is the police investigating? Is Ujjal concerned? http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rnr/ Sikhs and Kirpans/Polacks and Staplers (New Dehli/Delta/YVR) ________________________________________ Date: 2010-04-23, 3:58PM PDT Reply To This Post ________________________________________ With any luck, the sikhs will have one of their table vs. floor dog eatin scirmishes and the RCMP will show and clean out last years ammo supply on them. Hell, if a polish tourist with a stapler can send them into a kill frenzie, just think what a pack of crazed sikh terrorists armed with three foot swords will do.....oooowwww....I'm all giddy with goosebumps. • Location: New Dehli/Delta/YVR • it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests re: separate laws for sikhs and muslims (A Canadian) ________________________________________ Date: 2010-04-08, 4:11PM PDT Reply To This Post ________________________________________ I agree with you guys. These bastards come to OUR country and want to change the laws to suit them,or they try to bring in their laws from their home country Now if WE say anything against their <banned word filter activated>,they call us racist. If we tried this in their country,we would be deported if we were lucky. It is time for us to stand up like the Prime Minister of Australia, and tell these bastards if you don`t like our laws, then go back to were you came from. This is our country not yours. Why should Candains adapt to their culture and believes. They should adapt to ours.If one of the ragheads want to ride a motorcycle without a helment, let him.But if he does, and gets hurt,he can`t use our medical system. He is on his own.I thought when these bastards leave their own country, and come to Canada or anyother place, they would want to start a new life. They left their country for a reason. We need a government that has the guts to stop this crap and the <banned word filter activated> that comes with it.If ANYONE of these people cause problems, deport them back instantly. No if or buts.Your gone.Especially if you talk or try to promote terroism.I think that the best think to do is just kill the shitskins. • Location: A Canadian • it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests • re: RE: Seperate Laws For Sikhs? and Muslims (<banned word filter activated> RELIGION) • ________________________________________ • Date: 2010-04-08, 12:09PM PDT • Reply To This Post • ________________________________________ • • First it was the ceremonial dagger and then the turban and now it's the <banned word filter activated> burkas. When will these fuckers <banned word filter activated> off and die? SOOO tired of listening to them whining about how it's THEIR religion. <banned word filter activated> RELIGION!!! Now the popes can be pedophiles because it's THEIR RELIGION TO <banned word filter activated> LITTLE BOYS too? Quit using religion as a pathetic excuse to <banned word filter activated> with our laws and ways of life. If the cocksucking turban heads want to ride without a helmet, let them. Just hope that when you hit one of them, you hit 'em HARD and kill them on the spot so our medical system doesn't get all tied up with paying their medical expenses. How many thousands upon thousands of these types of postings go unnoticed on the net? Is that not promoting violence? Shame on Canadian media, politicians and those politicians knowingly maligning Sikhs based on some anonymous facebook comment.
  12. I agree that any threats, even stupid ones from kids, should be condemned. However, in addition, any politician using the public and police to knowingly exaggerate and misrepresent the level of a threat from punks saying stupid things on facebook should be condemned. It should be also be investigated by the police as public mischief, and obstruction of justice. Will the Canadian police and media explore the following? Will Ujjal lead the charge? This is found in seconds using google!!! -On a Canadian premier on this site: http://www.izicams.com/2009-10-08-10.ar nightowl: im going to kill dalton mcguinty nightowl: well not really rocks: why 44 lady titania: are you really sky? nightowl: cuz id get life for that sara2000: hey ladyblue nightowl: but ill think about it! -Here is reference to an entire group that chanted to kill another Canadian premier. Are they terrorists? Were they arrested? Did it make national news? http://www.pointsincase.com/columns/emmanuel/10-6-02.htm -Here’s a person on forums speaking about killing the prime minister of Canada and blowing up various media outlets. http://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?t=435393&page=2 -Here is an existing picture on flickr. I think these are all disgusting and shameful comments. But where was the police on media on these? Why are the Sikhs special? Who is misleading who? What are the agendas? Shame on Canadian people, politicians and media towing the line on the current absolute garbage headlines. Generations before you both minority and white majority Canadians were deep thinkers and worked to sow the seeds for a harmonious advanced society. You are turning a nation that was given a chance to lead the world, into a toilet bowl that caters to foreign interference and local jokers and racists.
  13. these are observations in the public realm. they are not mine alone. please feel free to post wherever you wish. there is no copyright or credit. The additional observation is that when Bhagat Singh was recognized and celebrated in parliament/legislature by dave hayer, was Gordon Campbell present? Was he not the leader of the party? So does Gordon Campbell now support bombing parliament and killing a police officer? Or do those assumptions only apply to any turbaned photos on floats in Canada.
  14. Gordon Campbell, Dianne Watts, Ujjal Dosanjh and Dave Hayer Demand Flour be removed as offensive to Canadian values & sensitivities.
  15. Louis Riel was charged on Canadian soil and executed by the Canadian government. He is considered to be both a hero by some, and yet a murderer others. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_Riel But does Louis Riel’s poster appear on a float in Canada once a year? No, rather Louis Riel has his very own Louis Riel day!! Moreover, you can visit and celebrate him every single day of the year at these prominent statutes and hundreds of other public depictions across the nation. If Dianne Watts, Gordon Campbell, Ujal Dosanjh, Dave Hayer are such true patriot politicians with true concern for Canadian harmony, maybe they need to start with reading a bit of Canadian history rather than jumping behind mahatma inspired edicts in Canada.
  16. There is a Shaheed Bhai Mewa Singh who shot and killed a racist immigration officer on Canadian soil. He turned himself in and was sentenced to death under Canadian laws. http://mewasingh.com/ Bhai Mewa Singhs pictures hang in a Gurudwara Langar Hall in Vancouver. This is a gurdwara now run by self-proclaimed "moderates". Perhaps someone can confirm if in fact the langar hall is also name Bhai Mewa Singh Langar Hall. Ujjal Dosanjh was at that organizations nagar kirtan as was the mayor of Vancouver and the premier of British Columbia, dosanjh and hayer. They did not have a problem with this. Someone ask Hayer, Dosanjh, and Campbell about this? Shaheed Bhagat Singh bombed parliament and killed a police officer. He was sentenced to death as well. Here is what Dave Hayer has to say about Bhagat Singh. – See story #7 http://www.voiceonline.com/voice/070929/newsroundup.php Have Ujjal Dosanjh and Dianne Watts not both campaigned at Dasmesh Darbar where there are pictures of shaheeds and khalistan slogans? What does Ujjal Dosanjh say about Shaheed Bhagat Singh? Is tossing a bomb in parliament and ripping a bullet into a police officer not slightly threatening or violent….or is violence limited to someone suggesting that you arrange for your own security.
  17. Politicians raise their voices as politicians suggesting they wish to end the politicization of the nagar kirtan.
  18. May be its time to acknowledge rather than living in denial that we got our own idiotic/amritdhari mob bunch just like any other communities have there. No point passing a buck and creating conspiracy theories.. we can create them afterwards and ponder up on it. But at this time, we need Canadian Sikh body to condemn this action and we must also condemn it. If we kept silence and live in denial, khalsa ji time is not very far where these goons will hijack our dharam and kill each other just like sunni and shia kill each other and our temples would be shut and our youths would be either atheist and sullah getting sunnat by some mullah. You are absolutely right that at this time the action needs to be condemned with a unified voice. It is really that simple for now. I am aware that we have our own idiotic mobs who present as Sikhs and in many cases that is the simple sad fact. Even where they don't behave as mobs, their value system, principles and ethics concerns me. However, conspiracy against Sikhs is not a theory, it is a fact also. It is practiced so blatantly at times that it can hardly be called conspiracy, rather often it takes the form of a bald faced smear campaign. No denial, but no naivety either.
  19. It seems very odd that after all the negative attention toward all Sikhs from the incident a short time ago, anyone with an interest in Sikhi would actually plan for a fight by bringing weapons. Can someone reconcile how it is possible for Sikhs to do this? Something is missing from the story.
  20. Bains could have been wiser in his choice of words, but it it is a non-story. My guess is that something else was prepared and ready to go to press as a negative controversy. Bains said this and it was a better concoction than whatever they had ready to go. 1. Bains has been identified as an “organizer” of a nagar kirtan. So what? What is the significance of that capacity in relation to representing an entire community? He is one of so many people volunteering to put together a nagar kirtan…it does not make him president and representative of anyone. 2. Why has what Bains said, as unwise as it is, clearly and repeatedly mistranslated and taken way out of proportion? 3. The MP and MLA are clearly biased in not attending as politicians this nagar kirtan for years on end. They are clearly longstanding political opponents of the gurudwaras behind this nagar kirtan. Did they disclose their longstanding personal bias and personal interest to the police when they decided to make complaints? Do they not have a duty to their office as members of parliament and member of legislature to disclose that so they are not abusing their office? Did the MP not state that he does not fear for his safety? The MP and MLA have enormous political interest here and are using their positions and complaints to the police to advance their politics. I would think there is a stronger investigation of criminal influence peddling against the MP and MLA than the strength of a threatening case against Bains.
  21. Do the teenager google search and start reading the headlines. We come up with the patterned and obviously constructed "controversy" headlines for this one nagar kirtan year after year. Look at the links below and you will find stories on this one nagar kirtan make it across the Canadian nation and the globe blown way out of proportion. Some one at the "malign the sikhs" campaign office is getting very lazy. They need new creative talent. Come up with something fresh. Sure it's a mean thing to make up stories, but I guess you weed out the week, making the remaining Sikhs a lean mean laughing at you machine. 2010-many references Google it 2009-many references-here is one http://www.vancouversun.com/Entertainment/Gallery+2009+Vaisakhi+parade/1488685/story.html 2008-many references-here is one http://www.canada.com/vancouversun/news/story.html?id=fbcbf0b7-9157-4743-845a-340be07650a4 2007-many references-here is one http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/sikh-politics-canada/index.html

    Want To Die

how old are you and where are you located?
  23. Sp You are asking…why do Sikhs irrationally judge this group when in your opinion they should irrationally judge another group? Go back to the drawing board. Irrational hatred toward Hindus and Pakistanis or any one else for that matter is..................wait for it........................irrational hatred. So before saying "no i am a sikh", learn what a "sikh" is.

    Gay Brother

To the OP If you were to do a survey of all the families that have “skeletons in the closet”… it would be the majority of them. Some are easier to hide, some remain in the closet, but anyone with an ounce of maturity would tell you that it might be more the norm to have a family that defies ‘pleasantville’. Ask people who have some life experience and they will likely confirm this. Also if you were to ask people with some life experience, it is likely that a relationship with your brother and you and his family will return. It will not be the same relationship, but it never is even without such disclosures. Relationships with friends, family change over time. The past can never be recaptured, gay or not. In your case the relationship may be altered even more, but there will likely be some equilibrium where you can have mutual respect for one another. A Sikh is constructed, not from blood, but by conscience. Clan and caste is not part of sikhi. Humanity is your brother and sister. It is the person you lean on or who leans on you that day. That could be your neighbor, co-worker, or a stranger. And Khalsa is always your confidant. Is your brother caring and honest? Many caring and honest people have brothers who are 'straight', racist, dishonest and willing to hurt people. They are perhaps able to hide their brother easier, but which is really a better brother? Regardless of what one’s views are toward homosexuality, the fact is that group of people are absolutely unfairly discriminated against for reasons that have nothing to do with any intelligent views. The reasons for discrimination have more to do with narrow mindedness rather than intelligent thought on any controversy. I don’t support or advocate homosexuality per se, but because a group is oppressed, I have empathy for their struggle to be respected as humans. Letting a potential future partner know will likely result in you being able to screen for a more mature, more compatible, more intelligent future partner.
  25. The lie was immature and wrong. However, is it possible that now that you know one another your wife truly cares for you, which is why she could not live with the guilt of carrying on the lie. In addition being part of a person's discipline, virginity is also comprised of one's mind and heart. Get marriage counseling, otherwise this may be a long lasting issue.
