Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Last sunday, i found a document heavily criticizing Dasam Patshah's bani, by taking lines out of context in a sort of poster format, It also criticized Akal Takth Sahib, Damdami Taksal and nihang Jathebandi's. The publisher was some "Sikh-e-forum" I at once could not bear the disrespect of Dasam Bani's and took it to the Pradhan, who is an Amritdhari Singh often speaking on stage about gurmat, and translates the Hukumnama of Guruji at the end of Sunday samagams. I questioned him: "Do you think this is right". his reply was "Sukhjeevan some people object to some of the content in Dasam Granth this is giving information" I attempted to explain to him with my little knowledge the difference between information and opinion. I tried to explain that the same Akal Takth Sahib's Hukumnama's that the committee accepted on issues of non sikhs marrying sikhs and displayed on the notice board was being challenged in this. He asked me to do the arths of the tuks given correctly, i explained to him that taking any tuk out of context and tinging it with your own manmat can cause major problems, i said you sing: Andu krhu imil suMdr nwrI ] anadh karahu mil sundhar naaree | Take that out of context and translate it for me? I then questioned whether he didnt read Jaap Sahib and Chaupai Sahib, and that Chaupai Sahib had tome from the end of th Charitro Pakhyan,unable to answer this: he then went on to defend his stance, even though he did not make it clear who actually put the poster here i have my suspicions as in his defence he claimed that it had been distributed at Derby Gurdwara, and Such a big Khalsitani Gurdwara was distruibuting so it was fine to bring these here. I attempted to explain once again that are we to follow the manmat of commitiees or Gurmat? He agreed to withdraw this poster, but i am disatisfied and i will raise this issue on sunday to the Sangat in accordance with Akal Takth Sahib's hukumnama that Panth Samarpit vidvaan (i am not a vidvaan, but no vidvaan can say he is a vidvaan with mere worldly qualifications but a vidvaan is he who has taken vidya to study gurbani) tackle this issue. Further more, i was again upset when after this discussion i searched around the table where i found this poster leaflet thing and i found a small paperback book "Pooranmashi Di asli Katha" , regardless of whether you agree on the significance of poornmashi, this contained various gurbani including the whole Aarti, it was left disrespectfully covered with dust under old newspapers, and stained with what looked like dal or a burn or something. When i questioned the commitee why a text with gurbani is being disrespected i was told to put it in the cupboard containing pothis in darbar sahib and "Kuujh hor?" (Anything Else) like i was constantly harrasing the commitee when actually i am just trying to help them sort their act out! any suggestions Khalsa Ji? This is the firsttime ever i have had to speak like this, and i attempted to mantain full nimrata but when a person sees their own fathers gurbani being tarnished and God-like Gurbani texts (poQI prmysr kw Qwnu ] Pothi Parmesar Ka Thaan. ) its is natural for bir ras bhavana to arise to tackle these dusht anti-gurmat prachariks. ... Waheguru ji Ki fateh from my little knowledge ive come to the conclusion a keski is a small (under) dastar. My question is this, would a patka qualify as a keski. I know we are not allowed to discuss whether keski as a kakkar or not but we all accept that it is important! could someone help me please? and this is probably been answered in other topics but haha:) how are we supposed to keep the keski on us during ishnaan? and can we sometimes (even for a short time) keep our head bear? and what is the protocol if we break this maryada? However even though I am prepared to give my full, undivided support for any genuine panthic task, I would like you to clarify a simple counter-argument to the issue you have raised. It makes sense that when asked about religion there should be a seperate tick box for Sikhs, but ethnicity is far different from religion. Sikhism, Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, Janism and Atheism would all be appropriate optios for a question relating to religion however ethicity is a different matter compeltely. I can be a Britsh Indian and a Christian or I could be a British Indian and a Sikh, what is the issue in ticking the British Indian box? I may be ignorant to some aspects which you are aware of, so I would answer ask you to answer this question before pursuing the lobby in Westminister. The important factor that I think is being missed is that Ethnicity and religion are completely different, I would hate for Sikh representatives to go to Westminister and be labeled as hyper sensitive, unneccesarily argumentative and unreasonable. Bhai Gurdas Ji's vaara were excepted by our Satgurus and the panth as an explanation to gurbani. Is this Kachi bani? Guru Gobind Singh Ji maharaj kept 52 poets at paunta sahib, Bhai Sahib Bhai Nand Lal ji being one of the most favourite's and blessed Gursikhs of Guru Maharaj. Was there bani Kachi? See what we fail to understand is that our kalyugi minds do not become attached to gurbani as easily, because our intellect is lacking and we do need a mediator or a bridge between us and gurbani, call it kachi bani but it can help us understand the meanings, the arths and the themes of Gurbani and for some it joins them to gursikhi and gurbani. Because ultimately whether a parcharak speaks about gurbani or sings about it theyre motive isnt to join us to themselves or theyre words but to gurbani. i get why you find this funny, not going to lie i had a cheeky smile too! but sant ji is right in a way. Theres clearly two sort of anti-pakhandis... the first who condemn all anti-gurmat, dehdhari gurus etc. and the second who do this but also unfairly include those sants and parcharaks who are genuinely doing a good panthic job.. The latter type of people unintentionally are acctually commiting the condemned deed of sant nindya! In regards to the babbu mann song, i liked it the first time except for the "dholki, chimte" bit which i thought was sort of slandering of some very gurmukh mahapurshs like sant isher singh ji rara sahib wale. and now i think the song writer maybe one of the people who can't differentiate between the wrong "sants" (the pakhandis) and the right Sants (the mahapurshs)

i know what you mean but i do think some elder people cant stay up even later. as in my family my mum sometimes goes to sleep straight after listening to kirtan sohila but i dont! id say if you want to stay up later then read it by yourself when you go to sleep but theres no harm in listening to kirtan sohila even if your not sleeping straight after, some people who would not listen to it/recite it or have even heard it are listening to it through the sikh channel so i do think it should continue to air. just an opinion bhul chuk maaf

Gurbilas Patshahi 6 is a part of Sikh heritage. Kale Afghanaiye dont belive in that. But they dont belive in anything else, so it doesnt matter. There is a lot that can be extracted and learnt from such collections of Sikh heritage and history. I am sure Darshan will be doing keertan in Delhi again this year. Its a shame, isnt it? sikh channel will get to me and i agree its not there fault but they should have a pre-katha procedure to verify the gurmat of the people doing the prachar. i agreed with some bits of bhai gurbachan singhs katha but i think it could be called "mischief" to disguise hidden elements under the kathas's theme of gender equality (which he adressed) as far as darshan singhs concerned..what can we do and even with this how can we stop people misleading the sikh sangat, any suggestion sikhsangat.com?

its quite worrying isnt it, next thing.. kala afgana, ragi darshan singh will be on the sikh channel. can someone please tell me about the auntencity of gurbilas patshahi 6 and confrm that i am right in believing the Mata Ganga-Baba Budha ji sakhi? i'm up for ringing sikh channel once i get 100% evidence that i am in the right because at one progam they have jathedar giani gurbachan singh ji akal takth sahib so must agee with the doctrine of the supremacy of Akal takth and at tothers they are having people who are clearly challenging the panthic maryada such as jagtar singh jachak jo and this thailandwala bhai sahib! he also said calling Granthi singhs Guru ke wazeer is wrong too.

Pracharak on Sikh Channel question Baba Buddha-Mata Ganga sakhi (baba Buddha ji blessing mata Ganga ji) and Gurbilas Patshahi 6 b saying it was written by brahmins. He seemed knowledgable and was on live today and it was written that he was someone (cant remember who) thailandwale...can someone please clarify if he is lying because the sakhi is an integral part of sikh history as far as i know[ and Gurbilas patshahi 6 has the approval of sgpc (not maing it 100% undoubtable) but it from my knowledge is a panth approved text/size]

right i dont mean to be hyper-paranoid, but sant ranjit singh mentioned a bibi from United Sikhs suggesting we made a "kakkar fund" to secure our rights in keeping our kakkars on us at all times, even schools and work etc. at the time i was like i'm sure its only a few minor incidents.. but the comments have got me thinking of the future and maybe we do need to start forwad thinking!

HAHA that was pretty good! and thanks again..i'm liking all the encouragement.. i'm one of those over anxious kids..im currently trying to calculate my average kesh "drying time" and see if my kesh dry by the time i leave for school. Khalsa ji may guru sahib bless you on this path, there are alot of knowledgable (if thats how you spell it lol) gursikhs on this site so please don't hesitate to ask them any questions. With regard to shakking amrit, humble benti is to- when your ready just take it from any punj pyare, gursikha it doesn't matter if they belong to x y z jatha lets not underestimate the power of Guru's Roop, when your going to take it just say maharaj I want to give my head to you now it don't care where it is just find me punj pyare!
